My friend and I tried the New Release Tasting, and we both agreed all the wines were tasty and complex flavors and mixtures of dry and sweet. I enjoyed the Sauv Blanc so much that I got a bottle to go - $5 off too, since I purchased a flight prior! The guy behind the counter was friendly and always attentive, not leaving long gaps of time in between tastings! There are a few small tables inside, bar seating, and some seating outside on the patio where you can enjoy the sun. Parking is typical of Seattle, but since it's a little further from the main streets, there is some free 2hr parking if you get lucky and find a spot. read more

Great little tasting room in Ballard! Popped in here after a day of eating and shopping in the area and craving some good wine. They have several award winning wines and nice selection of snacks. Our server was knowledgeable and sweet, and when a totally creepy dude lingered around she handled him smoothly - appreciate when servers look out for their customers! Would love to come back. I hosted a Bridal Shower here in June of 2017. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Aluel! The staff - incredible. Samuel and Alex did such a great job coordinating our party. They were prompt, attentive, professional, and extremely friendly. They made hosting a party very easy. The wine - there were 24 ladies at the party and everyone loved the wine. Rose was a favorite of the evening as it was a hot summer day, but there was a variety of wine poured and zero complaints, only compliments on how delicious it was. The food - we ordered 3 charcuterie boards, each of which was different and amazing. The selection and variety was very impressive. Anyone wanting to stop by for a fantastic glass of wine and a snack, this is the place. It's great for small parties (25 would probably be the max that would be comfortable)! A couple friends and I stopped by Aluel Cellars This evening after work to try out this new wine spot and we loved it! We split a bottle of their own signature Chardonnay (Delicious!) and also snacked on the cheese board. Ken was very helpful and we enjoyed chatting with him while he served us. The owners Alex and Samuel are very nice and fun to chat with as well. You can tell they really love what they do! We will definitely be back again and again! Aluel is an awesome place to grab a glass of wine after work, or do a full on tasting on the weekend (or weekday I guess.... I don't judge). Offering some out of the ordinary bottles, it's a must visit if you want to taste up on your Washington wines. The long and short of it: 1. Wine. Aluel seems to specialize in South American style wines, Cabernet Francs, Malbecs and Carmeneres, which is unusual for a Washington winery but they do it well. I'd recommend trying any of the odd roses that they offer (rose of carmenere especially) even if you don't typically drink roses like myself. They don't drink like typical roses is an especially good way. After that their coat of arms series has been especially good for what I've tasted, and I look forward to tasting many many others. 2. Wine Club. I signed up as a member of their wine club on 1st visit based on the experience I had. The club offers the typical perks, 2 shipments per year at 10% discount and 10% off anything purchased in-store (20% on full case purchases), as well as access to members only tasting and events. I've received 1 shipment (which they were more than happy to modify to fit my tastes) and can't really complain about anything that went into the process. 3. Food. They offer cheese and chocolate pairing with their flights and wines which is a nice touch. Great for a rainy Seattle afternoon when you don't need to rush your wine sipping :) 4. Staff. Alex and Sam, the guys that run Aluel, could not be more warm and inviting people. They're more than happy to explain the history of the wines you'll be tasting and offer their personal opinions to help you choose and decide what you'll be tasting that day. They really escalate the experience to a new level with their involvement, and it's part of the reason I'm always excited to go back. 5. Atmosphere. Cozy and well lit, a great place to grab a few drinks with friends. It's small and can fill up so a Friday or Saturday night might not be the best time if you're hoping to have a quite conversation. They have an upstairs that can be rented out for private occasions as well. 6. Price. Nothing atypical, $20 - $40 per bottle or tasting flight. It can eat into your wallet if you plan on stopping by regularly but not bad for a way to start a weekend or spend a lazy afternoon. I don't get to stop into Aluel as much as I would like to, and I plan on changing that in the near future. Until that day comes I'm content with sipping on my delicious club shipment wines at home, and will be back to restock when those are out. Aluel is a great and quiet place to try out some wine. Some coworkers recommended the place, so my friend and I decided to try it out. We had a wine flight that featured both red and white. All of the wines were pretty good and the flight itself was reasonable for the price. I do wish that the server introduced/explained the wine more or interacted with use more because it would've been a more interesting experience. I also wished that we would've gotten new glasses for each wine or maybe a different glass for reds and whites. My husband and I stopped into Aluel Cellars yesterday as we were too lazy to drive to Woodinville and decided we would instead do "Wine on the Hill". Aluel was our first stop and was also our best stop. The space is industrial and was, simply put, our cuppa tea. We were greeted with smiles and holiday cheer by the owners, Alex and Samuel and a third chap who was in training. Alex and Samuel live locally on The Hill and it felt good to support their business. The guys are super friendly and service was wonderful - it's service how it should be and many other Seattle businesses should take note of how these guys have chosen to focus on service. We went with one of each of the tasting flights and Samuel walked us through each pour and guided us through the geeky tasting notes sheet. Over the years, I've not found myself to be a lover of Malbec (even as traveling in Argentina for 2.5 weeks drinking my body weight in wine), however, their Malbec was a bit more on the fruity side and super tasty. We shocked ourselves by purchasing a bottle and had we not been on foot and at the mercy of our biceps to carry said wine, we would have purchased more. Peter's favorite was also the Malbec but he also enjoyed the Regalia. Aluel has an offering unlike any other establishment in Capitol Hill. Their focus is on wine and wine only. It is a proper wine bar. They've got a nice nibbles menu (warm olives, yum!) and a Pinot Gris coming out next year (tick tock). They made a recent upgrade to their space by installing a custom bar stool height rail outside on the sidewalk. All that needs to be done now is to wait for the weather to warm, plop a couple of bar stools out there and get your wine on. read more

Partners Alex and Samuel (hence the name AL-UEL Cellars) bring us some fabulous wines to a quaint tasting room on Capitol Hill--something the neighborhood has been short of for some time. The loft space is modern rustic with plenty of wood and metal, topped off with their logo of a crest gleaming from above. The upstairs has a gorgeous large table for a group, while the downstairs is perfect for couples or small groups tasting. Their wines are made by Bart (the winemaker and owner of Bartholomew Winery in SoDo; of which they sell too) but Samuel and Alex carefully blend, taste and include their own personal touch on how Aluel wines are made. Their primary goal is to incorporate new world fruit to make old-world style wines. All of their grapes are sourced from Eastern Washington. My all time favorite wine of theirs is 2014 Coat of Arms which is a Bordeaux-style red blend of Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon. This bold choice pairs perfectly with any meat or cheese you are serving--including their delicious charcuterie boards. They serve a killer charcuterie board made of three cheeses, two meats, crackers, nuts, jalapeño artichoke dip and fruit. Well now, I was introduced to this place from a Yelp event and I must say this is a fabulous space. Rustic scene, tasty wines, great owners. It is going to be one of my go-tos for unwinding. We got a chance to talk to Samuel and Alex. They have such an amazing story and background. Ask about the symbols on their crest! Both gentlemen were so fun to talk to, enthusiastic about their craft. I'm definitely keeping these guys in my hip pocket for events or meet ups. The loft space fits more than I expected. I've been here twice and loved it both times! I have been recommending Aluel to friends and family - those who are totally into wines (know the different varietals and grapes, etc.), as well as those who more casual wine drinkers. I tend to be on the more casual side myself, but learned a lot both times I've been. Snacks compliment the wine. All and all it's a great experience. This is definitely a winery and not a wine bar - I mean that in the best way. The wines are either under their own label or under their winemaker's label. As I understand, this has resulted in some unique (and tasty) wines. I would ask questions and let them know what you like (or don't like). For example, I happen to really like the Aluel Chardonnay which is done in the French style, however, if you tend to like CA Chardonnays you may want to have something else. read more

I tried one of their wine tastings, which included their 2015 Chardonnay, 2012 Malbec, 2013 Coat of Arms, and 2014 Coat of Arms. If I wasn't flying out the same night, I probably would have bought a bottle of each wine. The cheese plates were also delicious as well. It's a great gem in Capitol Hill. Wow, what a great tasting room in the heart of Cap Hill! I had several of their reds and whites, and each was delicious from this boutique cellar. The space is amazing, with high ceilings and an upstairs loft. With a minimum, you can even rent out the space -- min can be met with bottles too. They have a wine club, you buy six bottles two times a year to be in it. More than anything, this place has real local heart, the owners really care about their product, presentation and customers.
