The vet is uncaring about the animals. Is almost never in the office. It's a shame we have to go to Orland to get good vet care.

June 4, 2026. Shiloh has developed a tumor under her front…read moreleg and is now in continual pain. Dr. Bettencourt gave her some pain meds and we entered the Hospice phase of her life. Less than a week later we realized that it was time. We called CCAH and set up an appointment. They got us in that day. We entered the room and there were some nice candles and music playing. The staff were all fantastic. Dr. Bettencourt took our girl back to get an IV in and to sedate her. He came back carrying her in his arms and gently laid her down on the table. She was in no pain. They gave us all the time we needed and then injected her. She went quietly and quickly. We were given all the time we needed after she was gone and then we left. We were given the options of what to do with her body and made our choice. So sad for us but she is not in pain now. (This time was in stark contrast to another time with another vet that didn't us sedation. Our dog ran around until she died. Not a pretty sight.) Thank you Chico Creek Animal Hospital and Dr. Bettencourt and his aids for your compassion.

It was 8:30am on a Tuesday ~ my dog was refusing food & water and appeared to be in pain. I was told that there were no available appointments & I should check the internet to find someone to see her today or tomorrow. I found a great new vet ~ my 10yo dog had pancreatitis! Thank heavens I didn't consider holding off another day. 5 years, thousands of dollars, and I'm told to look on the internet when my dog was in crisis. This is NOT okay

My cat Finley was having some very concerning symptoms that warranted an emergency vet visit, and…read morehonestly based on the reviews for VCA valley I was hesitant.... but he was in no shape to wait for any kind of drive to a further veterinarian so VCA valley it was. Despite my apprehensions we had such a lovely experience from start to finish. One of the main critiques of VCA is the price, and yes it was expensive, but honestly for the convenience it really wasn't bad. $350 deposit to be seen immediately, but after that all of the medical personnel were very friendly and accommodating to our budget, they didn't attempt to push tests and were very apparent about costs. They even gave us tips to save money (ie buying Pepcid from the pharmacy instead of buying directly from them) Overall a positive experience, and my baby boy is home happy which is all that matters

I had to bring my cat Zack in on a Saturday night before Easter after finding him covered in blood…read moreand urine. Every other clinic was closed, and VCA Valley Oak told me to come in right away. That decision saved his life. Zack has some unique medical challenges, and I knew going in this might not be straightforward. Dr. Wilson took the time to fully assess him, consulted with UC Davis, and came back with a clear, workable plan while still giving me options. I never felt rushed or pushed in one direction. The entire team was incredible. They encouraged me to visit, kept me updated morning and night, and I always knew how Zack was doing. I could tell he was being cared for not just medically, but emotionally. He's a very social cat, and it meant a lot to know he wasn't alone back there. What stood out most to me was how much everyone genuinely cared about him. One of the staff at the front desk told me she wished she could just go back and cuddle him all day, and when I spoke with one of the doctors later, she mentioned that people had been asking about him and wanted to know how he was doing. That meant more to me than I can say. Emergency vet care is expensive and stressful, and I know that's where a lot of negative reviews come from. But in my experience, this team was compassionate, skilled, and deeply invested in my cat's outcome. Zack is home now, recovering and very much himself again. I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Wilson and the entire team.

I bought a cat from Barbra . She neglected to tell me he was extremely ill. I thought that the low…read moreprice was because he was unsocialized. When I got him home I noticed that he couldn't jump very high and walked funny. I called her and she told me that it was his breed and not to worry. A month later after I had completely fallen in love with my cat, he was unable to walk and he had to be taken to the vet to have enemas . He didn't have the strength to poop on his own and his back legs were paralyzed. Barbra also refused to take my calls. I spent a small fortune on vet visits and tests. When I finally got Barbra on the phone ( by blocking my number) she said that when the cat dies I can have another for free! The cat is still alive and I taught him to walk with his front paws and he uses his stomach muscles to move his very weak back legs . I would have still taken him even though he is disabled. She really should have told me about his health problems. She really shouldn't charge money for a sick cat .

I've never felt uncomfortable about her cattery or kittens and I've been to her place several times. I have 4 of her babies who are healthy and extremely friendly. In the instance that one 'may' have been ill, I was mailed a bottle of antibiotics (which I ended up not having to use as the kitten was not sick). Barbara went above and beyond to ensure our little one was healthy, and I can't say that for other breeders. I will always return to her for kittens, and if I need advice. She genuinely loves exotic breeds and cares about her customers.
