So I'm pretty sure most people don't look for Rotties on yelp. Especially Rotties from Biggs, CA…read more So we were looking to expand our family and I have loved Rotties since I was little. SheRa (my current dog) needs a much bigger brother to help her fend off the many turkeys, deer, fox and other critters that she often takes on in my yard. Anyways, after doing some research we found Carol Bartolomucci and WestStar Rotts. And to our surprise, she just bred one of her four females who might be pregnant! We called her and she seemed as nice as can be. We explained that we wanted a Rottie as a pet and to expand our family. She said that we were the first to call about her newest possible litter and we quickly made the $250 deposit to have the first pick male. Fast forward weeks of eager anticipation and on Sept 28 her pup whelped a litter of five (1 male, 4 females). My fiance and I fell in love with the male, who we named Oscar, and couldn't wait until he was six weeks old to meet him. We started preparing our home for a new puppy who would likely chew on anything he could get his teeth on. Then Carol went from nice to beeotch. She upped her price. Although that's shady after we already made an agreement and a deposit, we agreed. After saying that we wouldn't have to show him, she said that we would. Still, we were open to the idea. After sending us photos for five weeks and getting our hopes up, she said that the male would be going to a show home and not us! Ummm... do I need to define what deposit means?!? We are not only pissed off, but saddened that we will not have a new pup in the near future. We were supposed to pick him up next week.

I am now waiting to get the ashes back from my precious cat, Winchester. I loved that there was no hard sale. He showed me what they had to offer and when I said I had just had to get a new roof on my house and was having to rebuild my savings. He never said another word. Some people would just keep pushing for a sale, but Jason was very understanding he just nodded his head. When I was getting ready to leave, I had my cat covered because I couldn't look at him that way anymore, but I put my hand on the towel that had covered him and then a kiss. I told him I loved him. Jason then came over and gave me a hug and then I cried even more. That gesture met so much to me. And their prices were so much more reasonable than other places and I'm retired and on a fixed income, so this was also a big help. Now I just have to go back and pick up his ashes and that's going to be just as hard I think as leaving him there in the first place. I did decide to spend a little extra money and get his paw prints. He was a special boy and now I'm crying again as I write this. Thank you for taking such good care of me and I know my boy was handled with compassion and kindness.

Now I have to put my pet on ice until morning.

He was quick to contact me after an initial email when…read moreI was vetting trainers, took the time to call me and explain the programs he had available and carried himself with integrity during the duration of our time working together. What sets Sierra Canine apart from other services, is the commitment to what is best for you and your dog. All the other trainers I spoke with were pushing their board and train program, which is usually a big ticket item for trainers. Dennis was open, and agreed with us when we stated our desire to work with our dog individually. He wants to train YOU the owner, so you can have tools to build a strong bond with your dog. He is clearly experienced, tailoring our obedience lessons to the characteristics of our pup and offering insights into WHY our dog is behaving a certain way. This allows us to continue our training after we finished with Dennis, and problem solve on our own with great results. Dennis is extremely passionate, fair and supportive to you and your pup. He was always available for questions outside of our training sessions and took care to walk us through everything even if we were slow to get the hang of different skills. He focuses on positive reinforcement, but is also realistic when you need to provide a correction to undesirable behaviors. This balanced training approach has our cane corso puppy thriving, and provides us with peace of mind that we can keep him safe through verbal commands. Our pup is fully off leash trained, polite on a loose leash, and can maneuver in hectic environments via heels or stays. If you need guidance with your dog, please consider working with Dennis!
