We called around and were referred to petsit.com which helps to find certified petsitters based on locations, needs, etc. We were desperate, it was the holiday weekend and there was only 2 options available to us. Fortunately All Creatures was one of those options and we made arrangements for them to watch our dogs the very next day from 7am to 5pm at a very reasonable cost for the 2 dogs. They are life savers, or at the very least trip savers. We were able to enjoy camping with the dogs and know that they were in good hands while we went river rafting. This should be a pet sitter all rafting companies recommend to their clients. They are located very near the pickup spot in N. Auburn and our dogs seemed tuckered out by the time we picked them up. Do not use this sitter!…read more A background... I have 2 dogs, 1 is 10 and the other 5 and they've both had great exposure to pet sitters and have always been given EXCELLENT reports. I have also been a certified & insured petsitter and was fooled by Dawn's experience. Play-by-play: I leave the dogs for a long weekend (one 7-8 am and one 8-9pm per day) and get a call at the first visit (a message), at 6:15 pm: "the dogs wont let me in, they're barking, they bent out the screen and I don't know what to do so I'm having my husband come over with tennis rackets so we can get in." This message is left while she is standing RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW (which is knee high), clearly antagonizing the dogs. I return the call within minutes and she answers while STILL STANDING right outside the window! Says, "I really feel bad for your neighbors, I'm not sure what to do but I wanted to tell you." I had told her when I met her that my lab has a big mouth so even though he's a sweetheart, he'll probably bark on every visit. She said, "it's just that I just came from a Germ Shep attack seminar so I know what he (my other dog) is capable of (all while still standing in front of the window). I tell that if she wants, she can get some food in the garage and throw it into the window and speak very nicely to the dogs and they'll calm done. She gets the food while I'm on the phone and doesn't speak to the dogs at all, throws the food in and says, "nope, that wont work, they're not interested". She then says she'll call me back. I'm in the process of cutting my dinner short and DRIVING BACK 9 hrs after I just arrived to my destination and she calls, "the dogs are fine, I just went in with a broom and yelled at them and they listened." I was as nice as I could be bc I wasn't returning for another 3 days but she assured me that the screen was fixed and all was good. Got a text on Sat, "did you forget to fill out the paperwork, or did you forget." Told her I filled it out but didn't leave it bc I forgot. Heard nothing back from her. Came back the screen VERY bent out of shape and all it took was (literally) 2 seconds for me to pop it back into place. (Yep, window was closed so it's not that they popped it out again). I am only writing this review because I was a petsitter and know how easy it is to be an excellent one. If someone is scared of barking dogs or German Shepherds, they should not take them as clients. A good petsitter should also know how to deal with people because they are who writes the check. I just moved to town so I will be researching for another sitter but she is the first one I've had that I wouldn't even consider hiring again. I do feel guilty writing this because this is someone's livelihood but I wouldn't want anyone to experience the worry I had all weekend and the dread (but willingness) to drive 9 hours away, only to possibly have to turn around 2 hrs later and do it again.

He had hip dysplasia and she knew that, he had been here before but we were not aware of the tub (it's hidden out back and we would never have let him participate in that portion if we knew about it) She didn't tell us he fell until we picked him up. She took the money for the haircut. He broke his femur and it would have been an $8,000 surgery to repair. He was 12 years old. She claimed to have insurance. It's been over two months and she has done nothing but blame us for the fact our dog is no longer with us and the insurance she claimed to have, she does not. She has dragged us through enough. I was hoping she would show some decency throughout any of this and she has not. DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR BUSINESS. Happy to provide more details for any interested upon request.

But when I got her back, she was wearing a prong collar -- one of those metal collars with sharp prongs. I was told to keep it on for a week and follow their training modules exactly. We followed their instructions. A week later, I discovered puncture wounds on her neck. They were bleeding and infected, so we rushed her to the emergency vet, where she was treated for several punctures and infection. The bill came to $1,400. When I contacted Benchmark, horrified, the trainer admitted she "had forgotten to mention" that the prong collar should only be used during training sessions and removed afterward. That information would have been critical and could have prevented the injury. The follow up email with instructions also did not mention it anywhere. I still don't know if she was already hurt before she came back home, or if the tight collar caused it during that week, but either way, it was a major oversight. The collar itself was clearly too tight. If they had added just one more link, it would have fit better and may have avoided the injury altogether. Instead, my dog suffered, and the recovery set her back weeks -- undoing much of the progress she had made. Benchmark's official response was that they "take no responsibility" for anything that happens outside of camp. After that, I never heard back from them. My program was supposed to include follow-up lessons, but once I reported the injury, it seems they cut off communication. Between the $3,600 program and the $1,400 vet bill, I lost $5,000 -- and ended up with a traumatized dog who couldn't even continue her training while she healed. They claim to care about animals, but they rely on harsh tools like prong collars and e-collars, fit them improperly, and fail to provide basic instructions on safe use. Then, when their methods cause real harm, they refuse to take accountability. I waited a few weeks to see if Benchmark Dog Training would reach back out to address what happened to my dog. They never did, so I'm sharing my experience here. I cannot recommend Benchmark Dog Training. If you love your pups, look elsewhere.

She taught us how to be firm with our spirited puppy while also balancing love and patience. She was great at answering questions we had with challenges. Guava is getting excellent care from Dr. Rich Jackson and the hospital staff. Guava sustained very serious injuries after being mauled by two dogs. We live 2+ hours away from Grass Valley. Guava was treated by other vets and hospitalized. Even before we knew just how severe the situation was, we wanted Dr. Jackson to take over Guava's care. Since being at Wolf Creek Veterinary Hospital, Guava has made good progress. We have received many daily updates from both Dr. Jackson and Eliza, which have been very helpful and uplifting. Both Dr. Jackson and Eliza take time explaining everything that was done in a thorough and easy to understand way, which we really appreciate. We are just so impressed with the compassion and care by everyone at Wolf Creek Veterinary Hospital, especially Dr. Rich Jackson.
