Mty husband and I became customers of this establishment when I took our new puppy in for her initial check-up this past summer. Although the doctor and some of her staff seemed friendly, I think they were surprised to find me, an African-American woman, walking in their door. The demographics of this area, with lots of agriculture, is about 10 miles from our home, I believe is mostly White and Hispanic.
On various visits since (to get more vaccinations, have our puppy and kitten spayed and neutered), I was never greeted promptly; I always had to WAIT even if there was at least two people at the front desk. The front office staff would not even smile at me (this doesn't apply to all of the medical assistants, but most of them). Hundreds of dollars had been spend by this time, and I was starting to think that there was some racist behaviour going on--but it's funny, most of them smiled when I HAD TO PAY MY BILL!!!
On our last visit to pick up our puppy after a 5-day boarding, our dog contracted diarrhea and some of her hair was shaved (probably during the bathing process). My issue is not wth that, but with the fact that waited 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged. One assistant walked past me without any greeting whatsoever, and when she was "ready to help", asked 'are you picking up'??. What the hell--what did this girl think I was standing at the counter for?? They were aware that either my husband or I was to come in a pick up our pet at a certain time. I was equally upset with the veterinarian, who has seen me on a few occasions and did not take the time to speak, as they do with some of their regular customers. When the vet did acknowledge my being there, it was after I greeted my puppy and was told about the diarrhea and a growth spur (which I was already familiar with).
My complaint is not the actual services rendered for my pets, but the customer service that seems to be lacking by the staff. Some customers come in, and I will observe how they are spoken to and treated which always seems to be better than what I've received. I have read many other reviews about this place and the great care that they give animals, and my mother-in-law was the one who referred us to this place based on what she HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS ESTABLISHMENT.
Any customer, new or otherwise, should be welcomed with friendliness, because I am one of many people who are helping to keep their doors open. I'd rather not take my business elsewhere, but expect be treated with the utmost respect when I walk through those doors. If it is not received, then I will find someone else to assist me with my babies. read more
