    "Redrum" Where's the twins?

Dropped into the hotel for a couple of nights to go to Wrigley Field. The hotel has a great staff! They're friendly and professional. The hotel is old. The stair creek the elevator is slow and scary. However, it's an old building, it's expected. My room was clean but old. The bed was comfortable. The heat worked without a problem. There was multiple heating units throughout the room. I would figure they would remove the old ones when they put the new ones in the rooms. For the price and location it's a nice hotel. Parking is an issue in the area but it's north Chicago. The lot recommended was down the alley. It seemed safe making the tract to the lot but not perfect for women at night. The area has plenty of restaurants nearby and food delivery is always an option. I'm not sure if I would stay again but it's not the worse you can do in Chicago.

    BED BUG BITES

Quaint hotel with a lot of personality and BED BUGS. I stayed there for one night at the end of June and came home with BED BUGS. I checked with my doctor to see what the bites were, and he confirmed that if they're in a line like mine were - they're BED BUGS. Plus, I haven't been anywhere else that I could have gotten them. And when I asked the hotel about it? They said they wouldn't/couldn't do anything about it. So basically - "it sucks to be you, please come again" I would NEVER stay here again. Ick! BED BUGS!!!!!

Such an adorable little boutique hotel with an instaworthy lobby. The hotel is historic, I think it was built in the 20s so there are super old times heaters in each room that sometimes hiss... but it's funny. I like the location because it's near a Stans donuts to grab coffee and donuts in the morning. I like the decor, the art, it's worth checking out. Comfy beds and larger rooms. The staff was wonderful and super friendly & they have refreshments, just ask receptionist if they're not out.

Horrible on every level, in fact GROSS. Do not stay here ! I arrived and the whole lobby was a building site. A pipe had burst apparently, ok I get these things happen but there is no excuse for the state of the rooms and the unprofessional staff. The hot water was minimal. When I mentioned it at the desk their response was" oh you should have said earlier, some of the rooms don't really have much hot water". ?!!!!! The heat did not come on in the morning and it was cold in the room. The TV did not work, I called down and the front desk said they would bring me a new remote - yet they did not, The wallpaper was stained and peeling off the walls and the whole room and walls were dirty, the carpet was disgusting and old and there were cracks and damp water marks around the windows. The room did not look anything like the photos on the website and was so far off the look of a boutique hotel, the website feels like a lie. I was expecting something nice for the price I paid and was hugely disappointed. When I left I asked for the manager who apparently was "on holiday" The staff on duty said they would send an email to the manager requesting that I received a partial refund. Surprise surprise, I did not hear from them. 3 weeks later, I called up and the same staff member answered saying that the manager was not there and I could not have their email of phone number, he then became confrontational and rude when I mentioned I was following up on the partial discount we talked about and actually put the phone down on me ! I have travelled worldwide and this is hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. GROSS and horrible on every level.

"Eek! Methinks not" sums this place up well. When I first arrived at this hotel, I was "high" on being fresh off the banana boat in Chicago and the lobby is the best maintained space in the hotel (as far as I could tell). Once I checked in, I made my way up the dank/smelly stairwell to my room, which was just above the lobby. Now in the room (and happy to be in a room with a bed given that mine hadn't arrived yet) and overlooking the dirty windows/screens, dim/outdating lighting, and generally rundown appearance and musty smell, I was still thinking "it's just got character: 3 stars." In a nutshell? WRONG. The carpeting is dirty enough to leave dirt imprints on my feet and socks. The sheets/pillowcases were stained. The wallpaper is peeling in multiple places, the dirty bathroom is the size of a postage stamp (the door hits the toilet, tub size would challenge a child, very little usable space to place toiletries, there's mold/staining in multiple corners inside and outside of the bathroom, there are stains on the walls/ceilings, the tub had a slow drain--and I was in ankle deep water before I finished: EWWW), the pen broke when I attempted to write with it (and was never replaced during my 2 night stay), most of the power outlets are in poor locations for use (two were even partially hanging from the wall), the TV is maybe 20" and received no premium channels, etc, etc, etc. SOME of these inexcusable things could be at least partially minimized by exceptional service, but even that's in short supply here. After check-in neither of my scanned room cards worked, when I placed my "clean the room" placard--and followed up in person at the desk on the way out--my room STILL hadn't been cleaned over 7 hours later upon my return, the hygiene of a couple of staff members--including a particular front desk staff member--is very off-putting (e.g. visually unclean, including visibly dirty/soiled clothing), etc. There were a handful of pleasant moments, but those aren't worth mentioning--and had no meaningful impact--given the above. (see 9 included photos that were taken in the room's "natural" lighting) BOTTOM LINE: Yes, the location is good, but so is a mattress on any given curb. It's all contextual! Until this establishment renovates these rooms? I'd avoid it like the plague.

I return to Chicago, 8 years removed from the Chicago marathon I've done in 2009, but it was nice to be back. On this trip to the Windy City, I decided to book a night at the Willow Hotel. I found this cute, swank, boutique hotel on hotels.com and decided to book it. I usually don't book properties that were $100/night, but it was nice to splurge once in a while, especially while in Chicago of all places. This place is definitely in the city, with striking distance to downtown and a train ride to wherever you need to go. Luckily for me, the hotel was less than a mile from the Roosevelt station on the Orange train line. I flew into Chicago's Midway airport on Southwest Airlines, so it was awesome to have the train station there. I arrived on a brisk casual Thursday afternoon, but was told that the room wasn't ready yet (around 2pm). The hotel lobby was very swank and you can tell it had that upscale-ish touch to it, & that they know how to clean and do it well daily. Everything else was quite nice, although the room was a bit small, but I can't complain too much, as Chicago's quite cramped anyway. Still, doing it in style is one way to do things here. The overall experience here at the Willows Hotel was good, positive, and got a good night's sleep. Possibly the most important thing is the comfort of the bed itself and the quality of the sleep I've experienced and it was quite nice. I received room 403, with a king size bed. The room itself, as mentioned before, is very small. Makes me think of hotel properties I've stayed in Seattle and San Francisco previously. It was large enough to walk around and be comfortable, but small enough to be cramped, like in a private bedroom in a single family home. The Willows hotel is located at 777 Surf Street in the heart of Chicago, sort of near Logan's Square. Next door is a Walmart for your needs, as well as numerous restaurants nearby to satisfy your need for food and sustenance. Nightly prices here is over $120/night, taxes and fees are not included. Like all hotels in the industry, they accept major credit cards, so that's always a good thing, especially those of us who are traveling and don't carry cash most of the time and like to be paperless. Since I took the train here, I can't speak about parking. Although I can guess, paid street parking and paid parking garages are most likely the options you would have, if you had a car here in the urban corridor. They have free wifi here, but the wifi was kind of spotty. The television worked, as did the shower / tub. The check in process was nice and fast, although I wished that I could have checked in at 2pm. I should have asked the front desk lady to hold my bags somewhere safe while I go out drinking with a Chicago area friend. I was able to check in at 6pm later that evening. The complimentary continental breakfast was pretty good, yet simple. Breakfast pastries, coffee, and other simple foods to get your day started off to a roaring start. It was pretty cool to have breakfast at 8:30am on a Friday morning and not have anything really pressing to do at the moment. It was nice to sit there and enjoy not having to do anything. Vacation is awesome. 4.0 stars for the entire experience. While the price point certainly is not what budget friendly travelers look for in a hotel, it was nice to splurge. 4.0 stars for the service and comfort. Support local! B

This is the entire room from wall to wall! Tiniest room I've ever seen!

So we sat there watching dozens of people get metal detected before going to the rooftop. So we were LATE to where we needed to go. Ordered $100 of room service. It was LATE so I called to cancel. Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. Even with the shades closed. For as much as we spent, I would expect a lot more. Rooms were fine, but the service, in all aspects was not.

I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

The breakfast area is towards the back room. Checking in was very painless. I made it to my room on a higher floor. For a downtown Hampton Inn, the room was quite spacious. Although we grew up in the Chicago suburbs and know the city well, it was our first time staying at the Langham, and it left a strong impression. The most striking aspect was how spacious the room felt. We likely stayed in a Premier Room, which was quite large by city standards. The bed was massive, very comfortable, and just the right firmness. A detail that stands out is the space between the foot of the bed and the wall where the TV was mounted, which makes the room feel open and calm rather than cramped. The décor was elegant without feeling stuffy, highlighted by thoughtful touches like an espresso machine. The bathroom was another highlight: the frosted-glass window offered privacy while maintaining a sense of connection, and the rain shower had excellent water pressure and felt indulgent. The location is fantastic, convenient for work in the Loop, time in Grant Park, shopping on Michigan Avenue, or dining in River North or Fulton Market. During our trip, we ate nearby both nights, which made getting around easy and stress-free. The staff was warm and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was memorable, even if the details are a bit hazy now. The lobby is beautiful, and several family members who stayed with us also commented on how much they enjoyed the hotel. At the time, pricing felt mid-range for a luxury hotel in Chicago, offering excellent value. We were in town briefly for a wedding, and the JW Marriott was our hotel of choice. While not…read moreluxury, the hotel was very nice and comfortable, and the location was central to our wedding happenings. Everything was great until I checked out and discovered that I had been charged $88 per night for parking. That was quite unexpected. I had been in Chicago just a few months earlier and had paid $55 at the L7 Hotel. So I was shocked that the JW could charge so much. How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. Apparently the hospitality industry hasn't caught on to the current affordability crisis, or at least Marriott hasn't.

Check in is quick, rooms are fine (and clean), and the executive lounge is nice. I was warned about eating in the bar on the first floor, which I hadn't done in a few years, but it was getting late, and the weather stunk. I saw friends in the bar area, so I took root at the table nearby. Service was fine, and I enjoyed a few of the Amber bee on draft. The menu looked good, and I ended up with a steak fried rice bowl. The steak was gross. It didn't even look like steak that should be served. It was fatty and tasteless. I ate less than 1/2 the rice and 1/3 of the steak. I wasn't starving, so it wasn't a huge deal, but those who told me to avoid the bar area for food were right.

I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation…read more Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.

So, walking from the Blackbawks shop when it's 20° isn't an easy task. Also, I wasn't able to try the Tre Dita since I didn't book a reservation in advance. Hopefully, I can schedule a reservation in the future. Plus, since it was mid-December, the St Regis had their third annual 12 Days of Sabrage, which guests of honor perform the evening ritual of champagne sabrage, which celebrates the transition from day to night. They offered complimentary toast of champagne and a Vosges Haut-Chocolate truffle. The hotel encouraged everyone to bring a new or lightly used winter clothing for children in need.
