Stressful and careless resort We love visiting Appalachian Mnt all four seasons. We have used ABnB, private renting, and Marriott as well in the past. We really liked to rent from moms/pops and the cabin setting more so we decided to try Willow Valley when I saw the listing from Interval International. As much as I was expecting cozy and relaxing time with my family for 6 days, it turned out to be a very stressful and quite a shock how careless the management here. Checked in to a Cabin and thought it was cute and cozy but quite concerned the fact that we had informed the reservation we have disabled veteran but the entry to in-cabin stairs were very steep, especially in the cabin. Next thing my son is screaming "there's rat poop on the bed!!" and sure enough- mouse feces all over the bed and the floor. To ruin the evening we had positive attitude trying to understand and be optimistic. We started stripping the blanket, and pillow covers to wash it then ALL the pillows had brownish-yellow stains. We brought only one 3 oz of laundry detergent not expecting we would do blanket and linen laundry on our first day there. When we turn on the shower to wash off our travels- the water was brown- coming out of the shower head. We had to run it for a while to clear out. This is truly something we did not want to do driving 5 hours in the rain. The next day it was snowing. It was freezing in the cabin and the heater would not get high enough to keep us warm. We were directed to get log for the fire place so we accepted that was what needed to be done. Then the dish washer leaked and flooded the whole floor. We asked to be moved to another room but no room were available. Asked some assistance to the manager and we were told the GM is not there. When we asked what can be done, the front desk lady raised her voice and started yelling. I was very much dumbfounded by her behavior. Actually felt helpless with our family stuck in the cabin that is wet - cold - and rat infested. We cut the our trip in half and just left. We asked the front desk staff requesting a call regarding Thai incident. Never heard from him. read more

Old, dated, poorly maintained. Had to ask for kitchen, bathroom to be cleaned. Old dried grease in kitchen. Management said, not grease, "just rust" like that was better. Flooring in bathroom detached from wall. Vines growing through wall in laundry room. Weeds/trash around. read more

I've been an owner here for over 30 years. I've only been there one time in that time. but I pay my dues and trade for other properties through RCI. I sent my maintenance fee for 2021, but they did not process. They claim to have attempted to contact me via mail and phone, but the address they used for this billing cycle is over 5-years old, although I've been receiving the newsletter and previous bills to my new address no problem. The GM was of no assistance in this and is charging a $300 penalty on a $600 bill. It is with a heavy heart that I will sell my unit. read more

Cabin was cozy had an enjoyable time, only thing that bugged me was that the front desk lady had her family take up the whole pool and hot tub area and would remind us every 5 minutes when the pool closed when we got there an hour before close and waited 10 till closing to finally get in the hot tub and enjoy our time. read more

We were absolutely pleased with this hidden gem. We read the mixed reviews on line and didn't really know what to expect. We knew we would be arriving way after the check-in (we arrived at 230a) and the instructions and key was available as planned. We arrived to our cabin with the porch light on and the heat. The cabin is "dated" but not outdated which added to the rustic feel and lifestyle of Boone. The cabin we stayed in was small yet met the needs for our family of four. Cabin 15 has a fireplace and washer and dryer (no AC if your trip is in the summer). We saw two deer grazing on the golf course which is closed for season. If you are considering this place through RCI, keep in mind, this is a cabin to rest after day activities perfect for family time not a resort that plans your stay for you. read more

I've stayed here on Boone trips with my parents since the '90's. It's an economy cabin rental community. It's not a luxury cabin with a hot tub and gourmet kitchen, but it's a cozy and quaint place to lay your head nestled on the side of a mountain. I like that it's a ways out from Boone. My favorite thing to do here is go out to the swingset area with some good music in my headphones and look at the stars. It's a phenomenal thinking spot. If you've got $80 to spend on Lodging and prefer a cabin to a hotel, check out Willow Valley. Like I said, if you're in need of a luxury party cabin, you might want to look elsewhere. These are pretty good though. read more

If I could save anyone from renting a condo here, then it's worth my time writing this review. We were vacationing nearby and visiting in Boone, so we decided to look at this place that we had booked for September. I can hardly believe any of the positive reviews, because we looked at 2 different 2 bedroom units, and it looked like our vacation was going to be in the projects. Dated would have been a good description, but it was just plain old, like the whole place had the original 50 year old furnishings, kitchen, and bathrooms. The laminate kitchen counter was updated with a contact paper covering, which was worn, and in sections were a goey peeling mess. There was not one picture on the wall, and the sofa and mattresses were sagging. The other unit reeked of mildew upon entering, so we didn't really do a thorough inspection, but it was just as weary and old as the first. Does that sound like a vacation destination? I cancelled and took the loss. read more

We stayed here as a timeshare exchange through RCI. The units look pretty nice on the RCI page however our unit was no where near as updated as those pictures. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets had to be 30 years old. There were all kinds of poorly done repairs starting with the frame of the front door. The wood furniture was all scratched up. The couch seats were so flat from wear you could barely get off the couch. The exteriors are beautiful but they must have run out of money to do the interiors! We stayed in a condo style unit. Maybe the cabins are nicer. I'm seriously amazed that these are in the RCI timeshare network. We've had better RCI accommodations in Mexico. Oh, the wifi only works in the building were you check in. It doesn't work anywhere else. read more

Great resort! They have an indoor swimming pool that's great for year round. They also have a variety of cabins and condos that range from studio to 4 bedroom. In addition, they have a playground/park area that's great for the kids. Nice resort snuggled in a valley in the beautiful high country! read more

Stayed here with my boyfriend and his family on a trip to NC. It was really cute and a lot of fun. We had two little condos right next door to each other which was nice because we could just walk in and out of each other's places. You get a nice view of the mountains and trees from your balcony and also have a full kitchen which was nice because we were able to eat some meals there. Overall a really cute, quaint place that their family has been coming for years and I enjoyed getting to see. I would recommend it! read more

Very nice resort, with year round indoor pool, cabins were cozy and comfortable. The fam hated to leave

I stayed in chalet 17 while at the horrible resort. So ill start off by saying that if zero stars was an option then i would have selected that. This place has f****** cockroaches. There are cobwebs all over. There is a giant patch of mold growing above the shower. The person sized window right next to our door was unable to close enough to lock. The agreement says they can enter your place at reasonable hours to inspect or make repairs but they do not notify you that they are doing so. I had to call the front desk to make sure i wasnt broken into cause i went back to my chalet and the tv equipment was all taken down and thrown into a corner by the dusty fireplace. So in summary, COCKROACHES!!!!!!!! As soon as the heat came on they came out. I had to check out early and only stayed 3 days out of the 7 i was supposed to cause the mold and dust made me sick. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. Your health is not worth it. Thank you to anyone who read this all the way through. read more
