We had such an odd & unfortunate experience here. My husband called the Parkview to reserve a cabin and was told the cabins were full but that the "suite" was available. He booked the "suite" for about $100 for one night. We arrived and were told by the nice lady at the desk that she was surprised to see us, as she "thought everyone was already checked in". We checked in, & as we drove to our room, we noticed that there were no other cars besides ours parked in the parking lot. It was EMPTY. We walked around to the back to see if the same was true of the cabins, and there were NO cars parked at the cabins either. Our first thought was, why are we the only ones here, and why were we told that the cabins were full? We walked into our "suite" via a broken glass door which led to another door to our room & we immediately noticed an odor of cigarette smoke & mildew. We saw that our door did not have a dead bolt - only a lock on the doorknob. The dark, drab feel of the place along with the very old furnishings were disappointing to say the least. I wouldn't call it quaint, I'd just call it completely outdated and dingy. The couch was very old and basically unusable (obviously broken), with the middle sunken in. The tv was small & ancient with no cable, and had pretty bad reception on the 3 channels. (I read a Yelp review from 2014 saying there was HBO & wifi but we had neither). The carpet was very dingy, old, and needed replaced. The kitchenette was sufficient, but just like the rest of the place, looked as though it hadn't been updated since the 1960's. Our bedroom was dark, drab, and the bedspread was so old & dingy, we were almost afraid to touch it to take it off the bed. The bathroom had cracked, pink tile, an old floor and a very small tiled (with stained grout) shower which was pretty disgusting, (I think someone had attempted to paint the shower floor but it was peeling away) and the towels were thin & very small. We had been on the road all day, so we decided to go get something to eat and come back and discuss whether or not we would stay the night. When we returned from dinner about 9 pm, we noticed that we were still the ONLY guests on the property. We were tired and decided to give the place a try, but we didn't feel secure since there were no deadbolt locks. Hubby propped chairs up against the front & back doors (there was a door off the kitchen leading to small deck) in an attempt to create a sense of security. Trying to be optimistic, we decided to try to overlook these issues & be grateful to have a roof over our heads, only to find that the mattress was very old & hard with an obvious dip in the middle, The pillows were old, flat as pancakes, & hard as bricks. We didn't sleep well (needless to say) & when morning came, we decided to get the heck out of there, forfeiting the continental breakfast that was included. Once again, we checked out the parking lot & the cabins, & saw NO other cars there. We wanted to start the day out on a positive note, so we decided not to complain & just left our key inside our door, knowing that we would voice our frustrations by leaving an honest review here on Yelp. Conclusion: It was definitely not worth $100... maybe $40? Since we didn't have the opportunity to see the cabins or the single rooms, we can only review the suite which is overpriced, dark, dingy, smelly & far from comfortable. We truly felt we were grossly misled by the owners and we would not consider staying here in the future, nor would we recommend it to anyone else. read more
