We booked in advance over the phone. Check in and out were both super easy. The office has movies and books (even for kids) that you can borrow. They also have coffee, water, and ice available at all times. The room was very small-- two beds, bathroom, mini fridge, desk, and tv-- but that was okay since we didn't really spend any time other than sleeping and showering there. Someone came and emptied our trash, made our beds, and gave us fresh towels every day. Everything seemed nice and clean, zero complaints. Outside they have other little cabins and a fire pit with multiple chairs and maybe one picnic table. Really cute, well kept area! There were also several benches outside of the rooms where guest can sit and enjoy the weather, talk to each other, play music, etc. We frequently saw a lady outside her cabin painting the garden scenery. Blowing Rock seems to gather an older crowd, so being in our 20s and heavily tattooed, you get some looks. However, the staff at the inn was very friendly and enjoyed talking to our infant daughter. Not sure when we'd be back to visit, but I'd stay here again!

We paid $400 A NIGHT to have a jacuzzi tub I wouldn't step foot in. Coffee maker? Yes. Coffee provided? No. Refrigerator was barely even cool. Don't waste your money.

With a really charming garden area, as well as a little patio/gazebo-type area with firepit, the aesthetics of the place really draw you in. Various shrubbery and window boxes are situated along each room as well. When you walk into your room itself, the wooden panels and rustic-feel provide a sense of comfort. The rooms are generally comfortable, though might be missing an amenity or two. Rooms have Keurigs, for example, but don't include microwaves. The pillows aren't great either. That said, any issues are very minimal. The Azalea Garden Inn is a truly lovely place to stay - so if you're looking for something comforting and rustic? Don't miss out on this gem.

It was walkable from the…read moreextensive shopping area on Main Street and the website seemed to present a good place to stay. We booked through Expedia and paid through them also. The Inn itself had about 62 rooms but could use a bit of upgrades, not in the rooms which were furnished nicely with the standard being two queen beds. Added to that was a desk as well as two comfortable chairs, close to the window. Nothing at all was in the slightest wrong with the furnishings of the room. The problem I had was that the Wi-Fi never, ever was usable other than one time about 3:30 in the morning when I happened to wake up and read on my Kindle at that outrageous hour. I communicated with the front desk a number of times, probably three times for the 3 days when we stayed there. When I checked out I told the General Manager who was running the front desk that they needed some extenders or something regarding their Wi-Fi but she informed me that they had them at either ends of the hallway on the second floor (where all rooms are located) and in the middle. I thought perhaps our room 204 being at the end of the hall that was the problem but obviously it was not. Also advertised on its website was that they had a bar in the lower level but it was not open or usable with the explanation being that they did not have enough people using it to keep it open other than for the special events which were booked at the Inn. The parking area had 4 spaces close to the front door, but the rest were on higher ground, requiring a bit of exercise to reach the Registration desk. The Wi-Fi and the not open bar are the reason for the deduction of one star, almost exclusively due to the Wi-Fi. In addition to the rooms, other good attributes was a large indoor swimming pool and a sumptuous breakfast, served buffet style from 7:30 AM to 10 AM. The breakfast dining area had outdoor seating which we used on one cooly comfortable morning. Added to the metal tables and chairs with a covering umbrella was the joy of a dozen ducks. TIP: Ask at the desk for bags of seeds to feed the ducks, adding to the joy of the exterior, raised patio above a smaller water feature.

When we stayed at the Meadowbrook Inn the visit was marred by the fact that two main elevators were out of service, making it quite difficult to move about the buildings. We were not made aware of the malfunctioning elevators before we arrived. Apparently, the elevator repair crew was two weeks late in arriving to repair the elevators that were out of service. We received no allowance in our rates charged during our visit or at check out I am handicapped and found this problem aggravating since there was no nearby parking for the handicapped guests.

I'm glad we read reviews across a few sites because we knew what to expect: an old hotel that is short on modern conveniences but long on charm. It's like staying at an old European 3-star hotel. The rooms don't smell "new construction fresh" but they're nice and clean and big! Ours had a great balcony. We also got a great made-to-order breakfast, included, which they delivered to our room.

Brown Mountain Beach Resort's main attraction is centered around its coveted Rock Pavilion and the pavilion's speakeasy bar below. From the surrounding gardens and sprawling deck, guests have a view and access of the Resort's well-kept sand beach, providing onlookers a spectacular view upstream as couples exchange their vows against the rambling vista of the creek, old wood forest, and hazy mountains. The staff of Brown Mountain Beach Resort is reminiscent of your favorite relatives you don't often get to visit. The proprietor of the resort, Ron, is a genuine soul who wants nothing more than to share the majesty, that is his little slice of heaven, with those who find it. Ron's daughter, Kelsey, who has begun to take the operational reigns of the resort, mirrors her father's confidence, work ethic, and honest personality. Her and Ron's shared vision being evident in the continuing improvements to the resort, which were made in the year between our reservation being set and the wedding weekend itself. Friday, our guests began to arrive, as my wife and I decorated for the coming celebration. The check-in process was relatively laissez-faire and to each their own, as our guests trickled in throughout the day. That evening, BMBR prepared a delightful supper of wood-fired pizza, as our guests and ourselves all enjoyed one another's company. We were served beer and wine by the A+ staff of ____, hired out by BMBR. The revelry continued well into the evening as guests were able to come and go at their leisure. Saturday was filled with food and fun in the sun (and some nursing of hangovers) as our guests were left to their own devices. Some fished and kayaked while others went on hikes, some helped my wife and I tie together some final decorating details, while others enjoyed being outside, away from cell phone service with an endless supply of spirits. Our ceremony was everything we could have dreamt of and more, the weather cooperated for our outdoor ceremony on the beach, in the mountains (how spectacular is that?). Our vendors, who were primarily recommended by BMBR, all worked in perfect harmony, and the evening's festivities went off without a hitch. Our reception was held in the Rock Pavilion, followed by cocktails and live entertainment in the speakeasy. Our celebration carried well into the night, ending on the beach under the stars, sharing stories and smoking cigars. In summation, the weekend was absolute perfection, especially given this being a "destination wedding" for most of our guests, my heart hums with happiness just reflecting on it all. Sunday check out was late enough for a leisurely pace, following breakfast in the Rock Pavilion. Our guests, well-fed and thoroughly tuckered out after a weekend of matrimonial celebration, went along their merry way, and we followed right behind. All told, BMBR was the perfect location for our wedding, my wife even declared so in her vows. While the rural site is not the setting for everyone's tastes and vision for their wedding, BMBR knows what they have and shares it with pride and grace not found with corporate venues and larger establishments. Just as with any event which spans many days involving a multitude of people, hiccups happened, but where adeptly overcame and managed. My wife and I, while we are joyous to be done with the preparation and planning of the event, have exchanged a piece of our heart and soul with the McDaniel family, who so graciously share their little corner of the world with love and care. The kitchen is quaint, but well equipped if you like to do your own cooking. They thoughtfully provided coffee, tea, sweeteners, almond milk, yummy muffins, and chips to tide me over. The king bed is very comfortable, plenty of blankets and heaters to keep it warm. The bathroom has lots of towels and was well supplied too. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood. It was lovely to walk along the road to the nearby stream, enjoying the autumn foliage. There is a great country store just up the block with crafts, a bar, a cafe, and live music on the weekends- a fun, family friendly place to sit outside without having to drive! I also enjoyed visiting nearby Grandfather Mountain, the Linville Falls Winery, and Mountain Grounds Coffee shop. The Biltmore Estate (a two hour drive away) was also a worthwhile day trip.

Although, thanks to that we woke up every morning on time to eat the yummy food and get our day started. Also, due to the age of the place the water was brown in the tub, so we were unable to use it. Regardless of these few things, we'll be back and it's definitely worth 5 stars!

I was told that to have two beds (as advertised mind you), I would have had to contact them beforehand. Really? Do you have to contact a place that says there are two beds to make sure they have two beds? The breakfast was good and the koi pond was pretty but the guy was unreasonable and creepy. I do not recommend staying there. It is in a residential neighborhood so the area is weird and parking is limited. Stay away as they do not advertise as promised and have no desire to fix the problem.

Our 2 night stay at the Dry Ridge Inn made this one of our best vacations EVER. Everything was simply precious. The atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast both mornings was delicious, and, they were very accommodating to my vegetarian diet. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening and enjoying a glass of the red wine provided for guests. Location was also very convenient. We walked to downtown Weaverville for dinner and drinks both nights and were just a short drive to enjoy some hiking and time in Asheville. We definitely plan to stay again in the future.

We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.
