    Lost Dreams ..

Great hotel! It's newly renovated and nice looking. Everything was clean. Good service from the front desk. Free breakfast was nice too. I recommend this hotel if you're traveling through this area.

If you're looking for a place to relax, this aint the spot. Terrible service. Terrible location. They're located behind taco bell which is extremely difficult to find. We booked this hotel & this suite specifically because the room had a jacuzzi. Well, definitely not in this hotel. According to the receptionist they haven't had them in 3 years but its still on their website and you can pay extra for a suite with a jacuzzi that doesn't exist. Pool is closed because of covid-19. Breakfast is supposed to be included but due to covid-19 there's no breakfast. Also all this information is on their website but you only get the info when you check in. So everything we thought we were gonna have, we don't. We spoke to the receptionist about all these issues and she told us we could check out on expedia.....RIDICULOUS. And, cherry on too of the cake, at exactly 7.30am they start fixing the roof and throwing stuff from the roof right into a van that's parked in front of our window. Super loud, we can't sleep & we're supposed to stay here all weekend. It's been 9 hours since they started with the roof noise.. unbelievable honestly. Super disappointed, definitely would not recommend. Waste of time & money.

Ohhhhh my. It took us 20 extra minutes to locate this joint. 2 cell phones and a garmin gps all took us to different locations besides the actual hotel. The lady at the desk said i should have called. She would have given me "taco bells address". The elevators are super slow. The lady then told us it is because there are a lot of "old people" that stay here and they cant handle quick moving elevators. Our bathroom counter wasnt wiped down. There was multiple areas that were covered with something. The full length mirror was mounted crooked. Pencil markings are on the walls from hanging pictures. There were multiple wall patch jobs gone bad. The bathroom vent cover was filthy. The TV remote only worked for power and volume not channel changing. We used the buttons the tv to change the channel. Ha, come to find out, there are only 2 channels. The lobby is waaaaay too small to accommodate the amount of people that could stay at the hotel I wouldn't spend the amount of money that i did to stay here again

The Reach is situated high up on the property, above all the other cottages. Each cottage is completely secluded with its own driveway, hot tub, and fireplace or wood burning stove. There are trails on the property, which we greatly enjoyed, and the stargazing at night is spectacular. Cathy and her family were absolutely wonderful hosts. We mentioned we were taking this trip shortly after our anniversary, and we arrived to find a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and roses waiting for us. Oh and they really do leave you farm fresh eggs, fresh baked bread, and plenty of chopped firewood as well! The kitchen has all the gadgets you'd need for basic meals, as well at a Keurig and a little stockpile of coffee and hot cocoa. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had, and I nearly cried when it was time to leave. We are already planning our trip back. Location is great too, not too far at all from Black Mountain and Asheville, and a short ride from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This place is worth every single penny, don't let the one or two negative reviews impact to your decision. Please stay here!

I have only seen 2 of the guest rooms so far but both are lovely! I am staying in the Bella which is the bridal suite. It is gorgeous & has an enclosed sleeping porch, now the sitting room. The furnishings are so cute and the bed is super comfy!! I slept like a baby last night which rarely happens if I am staying at a chain hotel. I love the claw foot bathtub, which also has a shower in case you don't have time for a nice relaxing bath. I also love the toiletries they stock in the bathroom. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lody lotion all smell fabulous! They also include other essentials like makeup remover wipes, shower cap, etc. They even have some bath salts that smell fabulous if you have time to enjoy a nice bath. Unfortunately this trip is for business so, I havent had much relaxation time. Also, my hubby could not join me this time due to his work, but we will definitely have to come back on a weekend to enjoy this wonderful place together. Since I had to be at my client site at 7:00 AM, I did not get to enjoy the full sit down breakfast this morning but Teresa & Craig packed me a nice go-to b-fast bag packed with all sorts of goodies including juice, bagel with cream cheese, a banana, and a delish Kind bar & even put a nice go-to coffee cup out for me so that I could take my coffee on the road. Also, I must say in this day & age I am very concerned about cleanliness at the big chain hotels and this place is immaculate! I have already booked some return trips as I am working on a project in the area for the next several weeks. I am sooo glad I found this place and would highly recommend it! Looking forward to my next stay! :-)

While making my way here I was a little worried but 10 seconds after meeting the innkeeper I was so glad I booked here. The inn is a beautiful, restored turn of the century home with huge magnolia trees on either side. The innkeepers take care of you and will accomodate any dietary or schedule needs you may have. If you are a light sleeper, use the provided earplugs to avoid getting woken up by the occasional train passing through at night. It didn't bother me at all. A comfortable room, a free upgrade, delicious breakfasts, and friendly, attentive service made for a very enjoyable stay. Looks like a nice spot for weddings and other events, too. Highly reccomended!

Growing up, our kids referred to it as the "Bridgey Mountains Cabin". Lois and Ron are wonderful hosts! It is uth Toe River built in the 1930's. It is located up hwy 80 about 30 minutes from both Spruce Pine to the right (on Hwy ) and Burnsville (on Hwy ). There are four waterfalls within a 45-minute drive. Asheville is only an hour away with the Grove Park Inn for an amazing romantic dinner, and you can visit the Biltmore Estate, Gardens & Vinyards (I highly recommend the Bistro). The cabin is located on one of the two only suspension swinging bridges in NC. The other swinging bridge is up river a few miles. We call this "Sunset Beach" because of the Vietnam veteran who stands on the bridge next to an American Flag every day at dusk and watches the sunset. We enjoy hearing his stories, and also inner-tubing, swimming, collecting mica and beautiful rocks, and fishing. Back at the cabin, just a short three minute walk from the house is the bridge used to cross the river. This is a beautiful place to enjoy wildlife, especially bird watching. Bring your binoculars. You might see the bald eagle nesting in the area. To the left of the bridge is a fantastic place young children to wade, explore, and collect rocks. To the right of the bridge, you can hop in and inner-tube down river. (Inner-tubes provided, life jackets a must! Strong currents, even for strong swimmers, bring your own). There's a grill, and if you ask nicely, John, Lois son might even build a bonfire so you can roast hot dogs and make smores! But, my husband and I both agree our favorite days are the rainy days reading on the porch listening to the rain fall on the tin roof, tree frogs, and the sound of the river. Nothing beats it. So, the next rainy weekend you dread because you think you have nothing to do, I have the perfect getaway for you, the Cabin at the Swinging Bridge!

Our 4 year old twins and 7 year old love playing in the river, albeit a bit brisk. We also go up the road 1.5 miles to the Carolina Hemlocks National Forest and picnic area and go swimming. There are also many local waterfalls which we recommend not missing.

This place brings both business names to shame. Very poorly kept place. Room carpet sticky, noisy rattling AC, dirty coffee pot, cable kept going out, no microwave in some rooms. I was told it was my fault because I didn't request a microwave, even though I was not offered one or informed that some rooms don't have them. So called breakfast was unappetizing, eating area was gross, dark, dirty, smelly, dead stink bug was in a container near the food, eating area stinks with mildew smell and big black wet stains on wall and floor. NO STAFF at front desk most of the time, especially in morning, even at check out! To check out I stood and continuously rang two different bells and still waited about 7 minutes before a man arrived with an I don't want to be here attitude and some latex gloves on that been I don't know where, that he never took off. I told him I was waiting to check out, he said ok, you just leave the keys and go. I asked him for an itemized room receipt and he said your credit card receipt is your only receipt. (The credit card receipt has Days Inns as business name, different amount charged and no details). I told him that I requested an itemized room receipt when I checked in and was told that my receipt would be waiting for me at check out. He said there is no receipt here that I can give you. I then asked for the name of the manager/owner. He reluctantly gave me a first name and I had to ask twice for a last name. I told him I would speak with the manager about them doing better there. He said he was the Day Manager and wanted to know what my comments were. As I was explaining a particular experience he cut me off and began yelling at me and said it was my fault. A few minutes into the yelling a female employee came to the front and attempted to calm him down and told him to go in the back and I turned to leave also. Then he yelled out the F*** word at me. Shortly after some other customers came to the front desk and heard the details of the commotion and said they agree with me about the place because they also were having a bad experience/dispute with them for accusing them of smoking in the room and they didn't. WORST experience ever! DO NOT Ruin your travels by staying at this NASTY PLACE with NASTY ATTITUDES!!!!
