We had a great time. Craig and Teresa were excellent hosts. The place was astounding. The food was delicious. My wife doesn't eat eggs but the quiche was excellent. The train that goes by in the morning adds to the romance. Wine, food and friends is where this is at.

Everything in the Inn: linens, decor, food & complimentary products in the bath are first class! Best place in the South!

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

At first, I thought it would be like other B&Bs we've stayed at in times past: a Victorian house with many guests, packaged snacks and a packaged breakfast from a microwave. I. Was. Wrong. The owners, Patricia and Ralph, greeted us upon arrival ready to take our bags from the car. (We packed light, so there was no need). We were given an in-depth tour of the house along with the histor; it is an incredible story. The B&B is very spacious and cozy throughout the house. There is plenty of room for you to relax, stretch out, read a book in solitude or lounge. We stayed in the Hickory room which was very clean and comfortable. Sweet Tea B&B has a well stocked pantry if you have a craving for something. To end the visit, Ralph made homemade eclairs, blueberry muffins and French toast (bread was homemade too). This is as traditional as a B&B gets. Patricia and Ralph are incredible hosts. They take hosting to an unbeatable level with impeccable detail to every part of your stay. They keep the grounds in top condition so you can enjoy your stay in comfort. If you're traveling to/thru Catawba, try and get a night at Sweet Tea B&B

Rooms were very clean and bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was made to order with fresh vegetables and herbs from their garden, homemade muffins, eclairs and breads all very good. Complimentary local made goats milk soap for the bath, water bottles, sweets, fruits, drinks and many other snacks. We have been twice and  thoroughly enjoyed our stay both times.

But the major attraction is Emilie. She is a gem. Incredibly warm and welcoming, and could/should write a guidebook on Asheville. Every place we've rented has been nice but never great enough to get us to come back for a repeat visit. Those days of bouncing around are over! Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. She had lots of great suggestions on where to go and what to do and seemed to genuinely love the area. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Pat & Tom, the owners were personable and informative about the area and the B&B. Charming B&B that I would recommend if you want to stay in a home-style environment with personal attention, great conversation, snacks, drinks and above par b/fast to fill you up.
