In Mid August Jenni and I got the chance to stay at the lovely Lazy Bear Lodge in Valle Crucis, NC. The Lodge is nestled in the perfect spot, where you have a breath-taking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, specifically Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. It really is a view that will take your breath away every time you see it, which at the Lazy Bear Lodge is from every room. The day we arrived it was after 6pm and we were exhausted after a long day of travel. The warm greeting we received from Marsha was really appreciated. She checked us in, provided a quick tour, and then took us to our room- The Garden View. The room was perfect in every way. We had a great view of the front of the lodge and the lush garden. We were excited to settle in, but wanted to grab a quick meal before turning in. Marsha was quick to call a local restaurant- one of her favorites (Over Yonder)- and get us a reservation. Once we came back from our delicious dinner we settled in to our room. We had so much room to move around and relax. The shower was amazing- perfect temperature and water pressure. There was a large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but we did not use it. The bathroom was really large, which was great for getting ready and storing our luggage. The king bed was sheer perfection. It was so cozy that I slept peacefully every night we were there. Most of our travel is work related, so we were thrilled with the high speed internet. Being up in the mountains we were worried that we would have a difficult time connecting, but we never had a problem. Plus, there were so many wonderful places to work and feel relaxed at the same time. If I didn't have to work, I would have enjoyed reading a book on the back deck or even on the front porch. I personally could have just sat on the back deck and done nothing but soak in the gorgeous view. Every morning John and Marsha prepared a delicious breakfast. The first morning we enjoyed breakfast on the deck- which was absolutely wonderful. Then our next 2 mornings we enjoyed breakfast in the lovely dining room. I really enjoyed that you could have your own private table, where you could just sit and take your time. The Lazy Bear is located to several ski resorts, plus to Boone, NC. The Lazy Bear needs to be on your must visit list. It is perfect for business or pleasure.

Highly recommend Lazy Bear for those looking for a simple mountain getaway. Tucked away, it's the perfect place for a little romance or to visit with friends or family. The breakfast is so delicious! One morning was praline crushed French toast and the next was Nutella turnovers - YUM! The outside porch is so tranquil and we even spotted a few deer. Owners and service was on point. Will definitely come back!

The view coming down the stairs from out bedroom. Breathtaking.

Amazing location, amazing owners, amazing food, and overall amazing experience. We were welcomed by 2 of the nicest furry friends, Bella and Bo. Mrs. Anne was so welcoming from the minute we walked through the front door and was beyond helpful with finding things to do in the area. The decor is to die for and if you don't like the decor you have the beautiful view of the mountains and wildlife. We will most definitely be coming back.

On arrival 11/8 Hope and Sophie greeted us with an engaging tour of Lovill House Inn and it's history. My husband and I rented the on-site cabin with my sister and her spouse for 4 nights. The cabin was spacious and refreshingly clean and well appointed, including glass water bottles in bedrooms replenished as needed. We enjoyed the cabin's fireplace each evening. The breakfast offerings each morning were generous and delicious, presented beautifully. And that's an understatement. Shirred eggs, the best eggs I've ever eaten (recipes available). Any dietary requests were met quickly. The grounds are beautiful, with the newly renovated barn available for special occasions. A path to a nearby waterfall is on the grounds. The sustainable commitments made at he Lovill House Inn are impressive. This includes the solar panel installations with Tesla battery support; the no-plastics policy; commitment to healthful food options, with some flavourful ingredients grown on site. The staff managed so well by Allison (also and on-site chef) were thoughtful and knowledgeable providing a truly special experience for guests. I recommend Lovill House Inn as the finest in the area.

With that, my stay at The Perry House Bed and Breakfast shoots to the top of my list of memories! Make some tea--this will be long! I've never stayed at a BnB before. My daughter and I do an annual daddy/daughter trip and we tried this area before in a cabin rental. Fun, for sure but the Perry House took things to a different level. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by Robin and Mike and they're just so darn nice, I want them to be my North Carolina parents! Robin gave us the lay of the land and our rooms and it was time to settle in for 4 nights. The rooms are cozy and comfy with each having their own bathroom. The house itself is gorgeous, especially at Christmastime. There's a TV in the living room, kitchen in the back, and snacks around. You can explore the highlands, or just sit in your PJs watching TV or reading. Breakfast was served daily and did not disappoint! Sitting around family style with others was fantastic. Which, that is another fun aspect of a real BnB--we met 3 or 4 different couples and they were all the warmest people. Sharing stories, sharing our lives, sharing things to do--this is the real deal. I mentioned to my mom that this, at least the entrance, reminded me of Newhart, if you're old enough to remember. Our capstone was celebrating New Years 2023 with Robin, Mike, and the guests! It'll definitely be one for the memory book! The Perry House is mountain hospitality, Americana, beauty, and history all rolled into one. If you're visiting Banner Elk, you owe it to yourself to stay at least a night and make memories!

I love waking up to the cool mountain breeze and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and breakfasting on fresh eggs from Anne's happy chickens. I enjoy exploring the quaint mountains towns and seeing the panoramic views from the mountain top. I love having cocktails at dusk on Anne's tranquil patio and sleeping peacefully in a big, comfy bed. I highly recommend Carolina Mountains Lodge in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as a vacation destination.

This quaint B&B…read moreis only a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway (maybe 5-8 minutes driving) and about 15-20 minutes drive to the Stone Mountain park. It is out of the way down a long driveway, and most likely you'll be greeted by their super friendly dog, Hunter. Jim and Margaret are great hosts, providing freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and lemonade upon arrival. The check-in process is short and sweet and they are available when you need them, but the place is big enough to give enough privacy despite the community spaces. I surprised my bf for his birthday and we came up just for one night. We stayed in the Yosemite room and it was perfect. The king bed was super comfortable, and the room had a ceiling fan, flat screen tv, electric fireplace (for ambiance and/or for heat), and the bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi tub. It was right around the corner from the kitchen, so in terms of noise, you do hear the clinging and clanging of cooking and cabinets/drawers closing, but it wasn't a major issue for us. If you're sensitive to noise, then I would suggest getting a room on the second floor instead. Our room leads off to an external entrance to the back balcony/porch area so we could come and go from the back door instead of going through the house/common area which was nice. There is always access to coffee (fresh brewed in the morning or a Keurig for afternoon) and hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Upstairs, there is a small fridge that has complimentary can sodas and bottles of water for guests to have. I put our bottle of champagne there to chill. The highlight of the stay of course was the breakfast promptly served at 8:30a. We woke up to a beautiful spread and shared a nice breakfast with nice conversation with 12 other guests. It was family style, so we passed the food around and around until we were all miserably/happily stuffed. Margaret's famous cinnabuns were really delicious - super sweet and fresh. Overall - Everything was clean and just really done well with nice subtle touches throughout the B&B (ie. light music in the background of the common areas, fresh cut flowers in the bathroom and bedside, foaming bubble bath by the tub with a pillow, several candles in the room to assist with creating a romantic ambiance, super plush robes and Bath & Body Works shower products (soaps, shampoo, etc) to use... We definitely hope to come back and enjoy/relax again in the near future :)

On the second morning, we had shirred eggs with ham, waffles, Moravian sugar bread, fruit salad.
