The rain on the roof was a nice part, if it had to be raining. Our second trip was in The Mill House because we brought our dog. This is the one pet friendly cabin they have. Our most recent trip was in Deer Run, because our big kid wanted the loft. The loft is very roomy! My mother was from Elkin, so I like to visit the area. Nice day trips to the parkway, Stone Mountain, Mt. Airy, or even Blowing Rock. Of course, downtown Elkin is nice, too! The staff has always been responsive of any issues during any of our stays. I hear the wine tours are great, but we haven't tried any ourselves.

We made this our overnight stop coming from OBX and heading back to Michigan. I am so glad we skipped the comfort inn for this luxurious upgrade that was nominal cost compared to the comfort and amenities. It's brand new! Insanely comfortable bed with extra large pillows, whisper quiet HVAC, beautiful facility and guest rooms. The lobby is a vibe. If I wasn't so tired, we hangout at the tap wall and play some chess in the lobby. Zane was very helpful to suggest a couple places for dinner that were in walking distance. This place is a gem of this neighborhood. We are just passing through but boy this is worth every penny.

This is a new Marriott Tribute series resort in the heart of Mayberry (Mount Airy) NC. It was an…read moreapparel factory many years ago that had sat dormant; however, it's been repurposed as part of the recent revitalization of the Main Street area. As of 8/2026, there are still more amenities to come, and I believe they will greatly add to the guest experience. Pros- The Balladeer's lobby interior is gorgeous! It is very unique, with a little shop, multiple sitting/lounging areas for an impromptu meeting if you're staying here, a reading and chess lounge (reminiscent of a B and B), and even a secret Board Room. There is a self service wine and beer station in the lobby as well, but there's a fee per ounce. Upstairs hallways appears new, fresh, and well furnished. I love a new, spotless hall carpet! Our room was industrial chic, very apropos. Brick walls and beautiful furnishings within. And VERY clean! Bathroom wasn't too tiny but the barn door doesn't shut tightly. Not a problem for a couple 30 years married, but if your with friends beware they may hear things. The bed was very firm, maybe a little too firm for me. Not the standard Marriott (again this isn't one). But i could tell it was quality. Not that cheap foam mattresses. Pillows for comfy. You have to request if you want housekeeping here. I love a professional freshly made bed and towel replenishment so I did request. Outside there is a place to walk dogs. Cons:So as of today the restaurant is not open. They offer a 10$ breakfast package but it's probably much better to walk up to Main Street for a fresh baked food or a homemade meal. There is no gym(sadly) and no pool (very sadly). For the amount you pay for a room, at least one of those are expected. My suggestion is for them to at least have a small weight room with a few cardio machines. And maybe a sauna/whirlpool. Staff was nice, but there aren't many of them as there aren't too many guests yet. Which is fine with me. We used Marriott points and we were satisfied. I'm not sure I would pay full price unless it was a full service hotel. We're not local, but this is home base to my hubby's family so we know this area very well. The Balladeer is clean and beautiful, and close to the action during Mayberry Days and the Autumn Leaves festival. So come check it out.

I mean, we didn't hear one squeak in any floorboard! Talkin' rustic and solid - a wonderful combination. This Inn has impeccable cleanliness and tasteful décor of every room. We came with another couple who are regular guests at B&B's all over the USA. They were decisively impressed. We came for the nearby Yadkin Valley wineries but found simply hanging out at A Mighty Oak to be quite pleasant. We sat on rocking chairs on the 2nd floor covered porch as we read or just talked as the stars emerged in the sky. Then we ascended to the 3rd floor for games (ping-pong, board games, TV sports) and reviewed the substantial bookcase. Of course, a huge facet of any B&B is the proprietor. We all recognize a passion for excellence when we experience one. It's there in spades with Todd, showing up in attentiveness to our needs and a pleasant, playful grace about him and his wife Lisa. And we saw his excellence in that 2nd "B" in B&B. We're talking as close to farm-to-table as it gets since the B&B's rear acreage is home to cows, chicken and plants. And, uh FYI, no smell in the air. Match freshness with culinary excellence and you've got an Rx for memorable breakfasts. I mean, I had never had a Scottish Egg and can't wait to see what Todd has up his sleeve next time! A passion for excellence shows up in every aspect of a business, but when it's a B&B, it can become quite special since they're sort of personal - I mean one actually lives there albeit for one or two nights. That said, this place and the host "Paps" are such a refreshing change from the usual B&B fare. The place is a well lived in 150 year old farm house and the host is a warm, personable person who also puts out an excellent breakfast. The location is about 10 minutes from downtown West J. We stayed in the President's suite and I would recommend it. It has everything needed including a large bathroom and a comfortable queen bed; not to mention the fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Soft drinks, lite snacks, and Kuerig pucks are included... Thanks Paps and Susan for the excellent accommodations and good local information.. We will be back when we visit the area..

The heater is a bit noisy when it turns on, but that would be the only thing I found even remotely unpleasant. What I love about this wonderful place is all the personal touches in the rooms. I felt so much at home with all the decorations, and loved the whimsy of those outside and on the porch. I love that each room has an old screen door, and yes, it will slam if you forget to hold onto it when you walk in and out of the room!! We couldn't be more pleased with our stay here! We look forward to returning soon!!

Only complaints: The cabins are tightly packed and access to the beds are is a little limited. Also getting to the place can sometimes be tricky if there's been a lot of rain and the driveway or access roads have been washed out. This is not a place to take your lowered Corvette! We've been back a few times, will be back again.
