We stayed in the Lodge at Jefferson Landing two nights for a wedding. First impressions of our room was a sort of musty/dusty smell. Kind of like a vacuum bag that hasn't been changed in a really long time. Upon closer inspection, the room turned out to be quite dirty. There was a thick layer of dust covering every seam and crease in the chairs in the room. Some sort of brown liquid has been splashed on the entry door and never cleaned up. The lamp shade was also really dusty. It seemed like nothing beyond a routine floor vacuuming was ever done.
We has quite a bit of trouble with lighting in the room. One of the bed side lamps didn't work. I tried tightening the bulb and it would only flicker briefly. A connection inside the lamp had apparently failed. Also, the only light in the shower went out our second afternoon there. We had to get ready for a wedding and the maintenance staff would not come after 5PM, so we had zero light in the shower or toilet for the rest of our stay.
Another issue was a worn out electrical outlet in the hall way. The plug contacts were worn out and anything we plugged in would literally fall out of the outlet.
Speaking of electrical issues, we had a funny issue with the TV. The sound would not work unless we reset the cable box every time we turned on the TV. The reset process takes about 3 minutes. Alone, this wouldn't have been a big deal, but we were getting really annoyed with our stay.
Finally, they overcharged us by $8 a night. I was able to get the $16 (for two nights) refunded, but they couldn't refund the tax we paid on that overcharge. read more
