It's a freeing feeling where you can just focus on those around you. Small radios are in each room and old radio stories on cd are available for your enjoyment during your stay. There's large clawfoot tubs large enough for two, and each item is delicately chosen to stay within the realm of an old farmhouse from long ago. There are treats and coffee available at all hours of the day and night, a delicious breakfast that is 2nd to none, and a social every day with meats, vegetables, and cheeses that is unlike anything you've had before. We decided to enjoy ours on the front porch in rocking chairs and I must say that it was one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole stay! The town around the Inn is stunningly charming. It feels like one should be walking or taking a wagon from the Inn, rather than driving, to the General Store or to Over Yonder restaurant which is just a short distance from the Inn. Parking was easy outside and no issues staying warm during the winter storm from our room. Only feedback that is important to note, the walls are thin so if you're a light sleeper it could be tough with noises from rooms adjacent or noise in the hall.

What we did not not like this visit is the Unit, itself is starting to show wear, I burned mysef on the fireplace control as the front panel is broken and flops around and got stuck in the fold up cover that hides the controls and of course while the fire was going. The walls need repainting. They say they will charge you if you do not clean the grill but when we got there it was filthy and we had to clean it to use it, then clean it again at check out. It had been snowing and there had been no attempt to clean or salt the stairs and landings. We had no gas to the unit and Eric, who is an old Navy Vet and very professional and friendly, got us hooked up so the fireplace I eventually burned myself on worked. I think if you plan on cooking, have a 4x4 vehicle, and don't want to do much other than cook and enjoy the views in your condo, this is a great choice. But we are active with our kids and it was a chore to get on and off the property.

She also showed us the butler's pantry, which was thoughtfully stocked with herbal teas and coffee. The 11:00 a.m. checkout time was another generous touch, as many inns require guests to leave by 10:00. We were also welcomed with two drink vouchers for the inn's beautiful bar and restaurant. A full-service breakfast was included, and it was truly five-star. Honestly, they served the best grits I have ever tasted! From the gracious service to every carefully planned detail of our stay, we were completely enchanted. My only recommendation is to make dinner reservations at the restaurant well in advance--it is very popular and truly a must during your stay. We cannot wait to return.

Her health was sketchy so I asked each place I called if I could cancel last minute and be refunded. After many attempts and not much positive headway, I called Hemlock Inn and spoke to Donna, one of the owners. She said "come on and we will make the stay great for her". It was great, she had a wonderful time and told everyone it was the best vacation ever, even though we were only just a couple of counties away. She lived in North Wilkesboro. Mama died a year or so later and I decided to stay in Blowing Rock and not Wilkesboro. I stayed there almost 10 times while I settled her estate. Each trip was perfect. It's not the flashiest place in Blowing Rock, but it is a great example of what you get in the NC mountains.

The owner told my wife no refund & that's OK I understand the cancelation policy but would not let us rebook for a later date. My wife has tried to contact the owner a couple of times & no response. The Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock, NC was our first time staying there. It was walkable from the…read moreextensive shopping area on Main Street and the website seemed to present a good place to stay. We booked through Expedia and paid through them also. The Inn itself had about 62 rooms but could use a bit of upgrades, not in the rooms which were furnished nicely with the standard being two queen beds. Added to that was a desk as well as two comfortable chairs, close to the window. Nothing at all was in the slightest wrong with the furnishings of the room. The problem I had was that the Wi-Fi never, ever was usable other than one time about 3:30 in the morning when I happened to wake up and read on my Kindle at that outrageous hour. I communicated with the front desk a number of times, probably three times for the 3 days when we stayed there. When I checked out I told the General Manager who was running the front desk that they needed some extenders or something regarding their Wi-Fi but she informed me that they had them at either ends of the hallway on the second floor (where all rooms are located) and in the middle. I thought perhaps our room 204 being at the end of the hall that was the problem but obviously it was not. Also advertised on its website was that they had a bar in the lower level but it was not open or usable with the explanation being that they did not have enough people using it to keep it open other than for the special events which were booked at the Inn. The parking area had 4 spaces close to the front door, but the rest were on higher ground, requiring a bit of exercise to reach the Registration desk. The Wi-Fi and the not open bar are the reason for the deduction of one star, almost exclusively due to the Wi-Fi. In addition to the rooms, other good attributes was a large indoor swimming pool and a sumptuous breakfast, served buffet style from 7:30 AM to 10 AM. The breakfast dining area had outdoor seating which we used on one cooly comfortable morning. Added to the metal tables and chairs with a covering umbrella was the joy of a dozen ducks. TIP: Ask at the desk for bags of seeds to feed the ducks, adding to the joy of the exterior, raised patio above a smaller water feature.

When we stayed at the Meadowbrook Inn the visit was marred by the fact that two main elevators were out of service, making it quite difficult to move about the buildings. We were not made aware of the malfunctioning elevators before we arrived. Apparently, the elevator repair crew was two weeks late in arriving to repair the elevators that were out of service. We received no allowance in our rates charged during our visit or at check out I am handicapped and found this problem aggravating since there was no nearby parking for the handicapped guests.
