This place is lovely, an idyllic setting, wonderful hosts, very clean facilities, and a great location to explore the area. We spent 2 nights here and loved our site, the deck over the rushing stream was a perfect place to sip coffee in the mornings and whiskey in the evenings. The dog park gave our pup the chance to run free, the clean bathhouses gave us a place to freshen up and the location gave us the ability to explore all Asheville had to offer, climb to the top of Mount Mitchell (the highest point East of the Mississippi) and just enjoy the surroundings. Our site had a full hook up, electric and water (even with temps in the low 20's at night), we had a fire ring (or square), a picnic table perched on the deck, cantilevered over the stream, and lovely (back-in) site with privacy and shade. This is the best RV park I ever stayed in -- 24k miles of travel! There is a rushing gurgling stream behind almost every spot. Very nice play area for the kids, nice bathroom facilities, a great group pavilion with a fireplace & TV, and a well equipped camp store. The park is near the Blue Ridge Parkway and several nice towns with craft galleries. Many of the guests told me they had been coming for YEARS. There is nice landscaping between spaces and several of the spaces had decks over the trout stream. This RV Park has added many acres next door and is expanding. I look forward to returning to some of the friendliest staff!! read more

This was our 4th camping trip here and we have never been disappointed. The campground is well maintained , lights in the trees at dark are magical and the staff are so friendly. Almost all sites are on the river and all are level. The drive up the mountain is curvy for the last 5 miles, but it is well worth it. Our camper is 33 ft and there were large class A's there. We also had to pick up my 87 year old Dad and move him to safety. The owners of this park would NOT let us reschedule our visit or refund our payment. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY!!! We're new to the camping world and this campground just happened to be our first one booked last May. To say it was a blast would be an understatement. All four of my kids stayed fishing in the creek for trout or adventuring around the entire time. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The only bad thing I can say say is now when searching for other campgrounds, nothing compares and I find myself wanting to come right back. As for the roads leading up, this was my husbands first time towing a 28ft camper and he was able to navigate the roads just fine. What a nice surprise! We planned a weekend at Mountain stream to finish a 10-day camping tour through the region - started in GA, then in TN, finishing in NC... Stumbled on this park because it was located near the Blue Ridge Pkwy and some of the mountain ranges and waterfalls we wanted to explore. We arrived at Mountain Stream on a Thursday afternoon, and Gena was able to check us in quickly and gave us some great advice to getting our 40' long Toy Hauler fifth wheel into lot #3. (Pro-tip: when the owner gives you advice to get into a spot with a large RV, take it... She was spot on with the recommendation.) When we made the reservation several months ago, lot #3 was identified as creek front with no deck, but they recently built a new deck on the creek so that was an added bonus. We were able to set up with both our RV back patio and the spot's RV deck for what was described as a "double decker" by Kevin (also the owner of the RV park). It worked out great for us to be able to sit over the creek on our patio and to use the deck with picnic table for some of our meals. Nice quiet park, with a clean and well kept appearance. They really are putting a ton of work into making it a nice experience for their guest. The shower house bathrooms were clean. It's clear that they are continuing to improve on the park- adding 4 yurts which look like they'll be ready for occupancy soon, as well as a couple of "Imagine" travel trailers for rent. The social pavilion looks pretty recently built, with a large TV w/satellite service (Kevin mentioned the area is packed in football season), a nice fireplace, and plenty of tables. The dog play area is well fenced off and clean, and a good spot for the doggos to do their business. On Saturday, they host a BBQ social- Kevin starts preparing his special pulled pork butt on Thursday so by Saturday night it is so tender. Some of the best pulled pork we have ever experienced. Ever. Like, championship quality pulled pork. Bring your own sides to share with the other guests of the park and make some new friends! A couple of side notes: 1. The road coming up to Mountain Stream is a narrow switch-back type of road... Take your time, it gets treacherous with a large rig, and there are oncoming logging trucks that travel faster than they should 2. We use Verizon cell phones; Verizon has NO cell service within the park so if you need phone service you might want to prepare for people to communicate with you in other means. 3. The internet is pretty limited- the free wifi has enough to send/receive emails, Facebook scrolling (slow) and Facebook Messaging... There is a paid "upgrade" option available, but it's still pretty slow- not enough to stream video or do intensive uploads/downloads. We'll definitely be back! read more

Review for Mountain Stream campground in Marion, NC. We reserved a space with them back in June for this coming October, paid a deposit fee and received a confirmation email. We drove through there this past weekend and decided the road getting to the campground was too hazardous for us with our new 5th wheel so I called to cancel. They didn't have us on their books! They had double booked our site for that weekend and now had another camper in our spot. I still have the confirmation email. They said they were confused as to what happened. I forwarded them back the confirmation email. I then asked for a refund of my deposit fee since really they were at fault here and had double booked out site. Can you imagine how bad it would have been if we had just shown up in October as planned?! After asking nicely, twice, for them to refund the deposit they are still refusing stating that their policy is not to refund deposits but we are free to use it at another time. Now why on earth would we trust them again? Not to mention that terrible road coming in. So we are now outta luck for $54. I just wanted to warn everyone and let everyone know how they are and what they did to us. read more

Small park, very shady with little sun, the roads are narrow and there is not much room to manuever your RV. Very windy road to get here (you will not want to drive it with your RV): in fact it is posted "NO TRUCKS WITH 3+ AXLES. If you have to cancel or change your reservation they keep all your money. I have had horrible customer service with this RV Park. Our coach was several damaged during Hurricane Ian when a branch crashed through the roof and it was further damaged then when the next tropical storm blew off the protective tarp the repair facility had installed. Our coach was flooded with all of the rain. Due to this we were unable to keep our reservations at the Mountain Stream RV park. I explained all of this to them and also I explained the financial burden we are now under to pay for deductible, storage, finance fees etc. Despite all of that they would not refund us our deposit even though we told them of this situation over two months in advance of our stay. I would understand their position a little bit better if we cancelled the day or week before our arrival date but we gave them over two months notice. I have never had such rude and ridiculous treatment from an RV Park. They clearly don't have any courteous and decency for their patrons. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The campground is well maintained and almost all campsites back up to the beautiful stream. The sound of the water rushing down stream behind the campsite is very relaxing. We stayed in one of the super sites which had a good size yard for our son to play at the campsite. There's also a large grassy area behind the picnic shelter. There is no cell phone reception in the campground but they do have WiFi an emergency landline phone available 24 hours a day to guests. Campsites are level, have picnic tables, fire pits & full hookup along with cable TV. The owner Kevin smokes a delicious bbq on Saturday nights for campground guests. They also have RVs & yurts for rent if you do not own an RV. We will return in the future and had a great stay! read more

One of the nicest campgrounds we've been to. The park is kept in pristine condition, not a blade of grass out of place. The park is in a Forrest setting with a babbling creek running behind 2/3s of the sites, which lulls you to sleep at night. Grass strips with trees and flowering bushes planted in the separations between sites. Some sites are "super sites" which are twice (or more) larger then the regular sites. Some even have a patio/deck which extend out over the brook. Very serene and calming. It is 6.5 miles up the mountain side, a very scenic drive. The cable is almost as good as my HD at home. WiFi and cell service however is another story, if you have to stay "connected", stay home or be willing to drive down the mountain. I believe you will find like me, it is well worth the trade off. The owners are very nice and very accommodating. read more

I would not even give this business any type of positive rating. We booked a trip with friends when my mother in-law passed away not even a week before our trip after she had a major stroke. When my other half called the RV park and spoke to The HEARTLESS manager at the RV park explaining his mother had just passed away that Monday the manager stated she would not allow us to move our date , nor was she going to even refund any money back to us stating the policy says you have to cancel within 4 days, no exceptions. I called in right after and explained to her you cannot help when someone passes away suddenly , and asked to move dates or a refund. The manager stated to me we will refund you the amount of one day and abruptly hung up the phone one me. I would not recommend this place to anyone just because the manager, is so Heartless. You can run a business like this but you won't have anyone coming back and I will make sure I tell all my fellow campers, exactly what happened to us. read more

I witness a 71 year old trying to load a motorcycle in his truck. He was using a small grass hill. He fail off the bike and hurt his hip. I came and tried picking the bike up. The owner ran over and was a total prick. Worry about his grass ,Which was nothing wrong. The guy watches you like a hawk. Doesn't like cornhole boards. Watches people come and go from the bath houses with cameras . Just a total jerk to the older gentleman. If your not going to have your dentures soaking in a jar by six pm. And dont like pine sap on your unit . Then i would have to say , keep looking for a camp site. read more

Mountain Stream Campground is nestled in the shadow of Mt. Mitchell outside Marion, NC. As campgrounds go, Mountain Stream isn't huge, but you would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful campground. The owners are very hospitable and welcoming. The sites are level, wide, and beautifully landscaped. Make sure to reserve a creek side site and you'll be treated to the relaxing sounds of Buck Creek. There is a very clean bath-house with no shortage of hot water, a covered pavilion, and a well stocked general store. I would not hesitate to recommend this campground and look forward to coming back when the leaves begin to turn. read more

Loved Mountain Stream. It was clean, had a nice little dog park, and the surrounding area was just beautiful. Most sites have a little stream running behind. Some had decks. On the other hand, I only had two creative criticisms. First, sites are very narrow. We have a class A with 3 slide outs and just barely had room on one side. We really had to watch the larger slide out to make sure we didn't hit the neighbors awning. The other concern was WI-FI. Now I realize we are deep in the mountains but you have the option of paying for faster internet. That's where I have a problem. It's only moderately faster. Save your money. If your pulling a smaller RV and don't need WI-FI, this is the place for you. It's truly a beautiful RV park! read more

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Always well kept grounds and bath houses. The new owners Kevin and Gina are super nice and hospitable. This Campground is small and quiet. A beautiful stream runs along the one side and the other side does sit against the road. Since it's a mountain road and the Campground driveway has a downgrade a bit, the noise from the road is minimal. There are trees all around and it's such a solace place to unwind and relax. Park is immaculate and my son and I loved plaing some football on the nice grass center lawn with the football the park supplied. The campground is beautiful. However, after my experience this past Friday May 25th, 2018, I would never recommend this campground to anyone due to the rudeness and unprofessional attitude of owner Kevin. My wife and I arrived at 8:30 pm excited and awaiting a nice camping experience like we had 2 prior trips here. I was greeted by Kevin who was initially nice and respectful. His tone and demeanor changed after we started discussing the best route to my site, which I had paid for in advance due to requirement for holiday weekend. He became aggressive and rude and after I called him on it, he told me to leave and he would call the police. So I left. Needless to say, I will never return again. Customer service rule number one: Always treat your guests with respect! read more
