I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

What a gorgeous park, even in the winter time…read more Since it's winter when I visited, I can't review all of the incredible summer time water sports but I know this park can get busy then. Winter was in incredible time to visit, easy parking, a chance to chat with the staff at the visitor center, and walk around. The lake is beautiful. I've heard that this area did get some hurricane/ storm damage but everything needed to drive around is up and running! Make a plan to visit next time you're nearby. It's about 1 hour drive from downtown Asheville.

This park had an impressive visitor center and restrooms were open even after it closed, though neighboring water fountains were not functioning on a hot summer day. The trail I selected was rugged and had occasional waterside views, most notably on a footbridge that offered a mountain vista. Cell service was not great for me, and while I'd hoped to do a zoom meeting on the run I had to return to more urban areas. But if you actually want to get unplugged, the people on boats here appeared to be having a good time.

Also, as we continued past the falls to finish the loop, there was a marker which we followed and basically had to crawl up the side of the mountain (which obviously wasn't the right way but it did have a path so we kept pushing forward). That being said, it still has a small, well-kept parking area where you can park if you are looking to hike up to Mt Mitchell. My partner and I did this recently one Saturday. She treated me horribly, accused me of playing games with her after I even agreed to pay extra for any inconveniences. The inconvenience for her was me coming into the office and asking if they had any spots open this week due to cancellations and the friend I had purchased the area for was still there after 11am. She made fun of my friend and threatened to call the law on her. It is a shame this "owner" treats people like they are subhuman. I paid well over $115 for only 3 nights stay. All you get is a plug to hook up phone and a water spigot for that much money. It is a lovely campground but with ownership like that and the price, it's not worth it. I don't understand why people have become so cruel that simply being kind is out of their ability. And especially anyone that is in the business of serving the public, they should always choose empathy and kindness because you never know what anyone is going through. This place doesn't even deserve two stars.

The owner is great and the host (Mike) is beyond amazing! We've been camping there for 8 years and love it more each time we go. The camper spots are very spacious and C1-C3 are completely shaded. C3 is the best by far! But you have to book early because C3 is very popular! Some things to know before you go! They do not have water hookups at the sites - you fill your camper tank with water at the office area. They have spots with electric hookups. They have a dump station where you can empty your tanks on your way out. This is a simple & beautiful campground. There are trails to walk/hike, mountain view to see, bathhouse with 3 bathroom/showers, and one with just a bathroom. This is by far the cleanest bathhouse I have ever seen. They show great attention to this campground and make sure all their campers are happy. You can also purchase wood at the office. There are a few t-shirts for sale at the office, as well. If you haven't checked it out, you are truly missing out! This is a great place with great people!

Enter River Pointe RV Park & Campground - A brand new midsize RV park currently boasting 55 level, roomy lots, designed by dedicated owners who are devoted to this gem of a park; The park is easy to get to in a scenic area near historic Morganton. The owners are very accommodating and I just can't say enough about what wonderful people they are. They've created a very nice, quiet park surrounded by untouched forest on 3 sides, above a scenic river. A laundry/bathhouse is at one end and it's almost up and running...with more conveniences on the way! Getting inspections, permits and construction completed to open this new park wasn't easy in the midst of the pandemic, but they were committed to their dream; After many frustrating delays, the full hookup campground is now a reality for us all to enjoy. Make plans soon - they're pretty popular already and as we know, the good places book up fast and far in advance! Thank you Kathy and Pat. All RV parks should operate like yours.

I highly recommend trying the pickle cider, but if you aren't feeling adventurous, then their Johnny Appleseed is delicious too. Everything on their cider flight were exceptional. I truly believe this was the highlight of my trip out west!!
