I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

What a nice surprise! We planned a weekend at Mountain stream to finish a 10-day camping tour…read morethrough the region - started in GA, then in TN, finishing in NC... Stumbled on this park because it was located near the Blue Ridge Pkwy and some of the mountain ranges and waterfalls we wanted to explore. We arrived at Mountain Stream on a Thursday afternoon, and Gena was able to check us in quickly and gave us some great advice to getting our 40' long Toy Hauler fifth wheel into lot #3. (Pro-tip: when the owner gives you advice to get into a spot with a large RV, take it... She was spot on with the recommendation.) When we made the reservation several months ago, lot #3 was identified as creek front with no deck, but they recently built a new deck on the creek so that was an added bonus. We were able to set up with both our RV back patio and the spot's RV deck for what was described as a "double decker" by Kevin (also the owner of the RV park). It worked out great for us to be able to sit over the creek on our patio and to use the deck with picnic table for some of our meals. Nice quiet park, with a clean and well kept appearance. They really are putting a ton of work into making it a nice experience for their guest. The shower house bathrooms were clean. It's clear that they are continuing to improve on the park- adding 4 yurts which look like they'll be ready for occupancy soon, as well as a couple of "Imagine" travel trailers for rent. The social pavilion looks pretty recently built, with a large TV w/satellite service (Kevin mentioned the area is packed in football season), a nice fireplace, and plenty of tables. The dog play area is well fenced off and clean, and a good spot for the doggos to do their business. On Saturday, they host a BBQ social- Kevin starts preparing his special pulled pork butt on Thursday so by Saturday night it is so tender. Some of the best pulled pork we have ever experienced. Ever. Like, championship quality pulled pork. Bring your own sides to share with the other guests of the park and make some new friends! A couple of side notes: 1. The road coming up to Mountain Stream is a narrow switch-back type of road... Take your time, it gets treacherous with a large rig, and there are oncoming logging trucks that travel faster than they should 2. We use Verizon cell phones; Verizon has NO cell service within the park so if you need phone service you might want to prepare for people to communicate with you in other means. 3. The internet is pretty limited- the free wifi has enough to send/receive emails, Facebook scrolling (slow) and Facebook Messaging... There is a paid "upgrade" option available, but it's still pretty slow- not enough to stream video or do intensive uploads/downloads. We'll definitely be back!

We spent 2 nights here and loved our site, the deck over the rushing stream was a perfect place to sip coffee in the mornings and whiskey in the evenings. The dog park gave our pup the chance to run free, the clean bathhouses gave us a place to freshen up and the location gave us the ability to explore all Asheville had to offer, climb to the top of Mount Mitchell (the highest point East of the Mississippi) and just enjoy the surroundings. Our site had a full hook up, electric and water (even with temps in the low 20's at night), we had a fire ring (or square), a picnic table perched on the deck, cantilevered over the stream, and lovely (back-in) site with privacy and shade. We can't wait to come back.

Off a busy 2 lane road, Route 80, south of Micaville, east of Burnsville. Be careful when going south, the sign is visible but the arrow points slightly uphill. Do not take the paved driveway! Look directly to the left for the campground sign for Sites 1-3. Easy to make a reservation.

We did not camp here, but we visited to hike the 1 mile trail to see Crabtree Falls. It was magical…read moreand highly recommended! The trails were well manicured and the scenery along the way was absolutely beautiful. The falls were amazing! CRABTREE FALLS The falls are wide and about 70ft high. You can walk right up to the base of the falls on either side. The river at the bottom of the falls is not deep and not too dangerous. You can walk across the river at the base of the falls on the wet stones, but you will get your feet wet, as will as water spray on your clothes hair. Just be careful you don't slip on the wet rocks and fall! There is also a wooden bridge over the river which provides a safer crossing so the falls can be enjoyed from both sides. You MUST cross to other side to view the "money shot" of the falls...get your camera out and get busy with those selfies! THE TRAIL You park your car by the Crabtree Falls campground where the trail starts. It's a 1 mile walk to the falls. It's moderate level difficulty and not recommended for those that have difficulty walking on flat surfaces. The trail is NOT flat. T trail is manicured and supplied with many wooden walkways, and engineered stairs, but there are ample trip hazards, such as roots and slippery rocks. Part of the the path actual passes through some mountain streams that flow down to the river. They are a beautiful part of the walk but also wet and slippery. There is an amphitheater at the start of the walk which makes for a great photo opportunity. The trail appears to include lighting from the start to the amphitheater to support evening performances. I am sure they would be a magical experience. There are many beautiful nature views along the way, tree canopies and tree "tunnels" covering some of the path. There are stairs made from stone found in the area. It really is a nice walk. Once you reach the falls you can choose whether to continue on the same direction to loop back to the campground on a 1.7mile return, or to return back the way you came for a 1mile hike. The 1.7 mile return is categorized as strenuous on the signs. We didn't take it so can't comment, but be aware. The hike to the falls is downhill, although surprisingly not very noticeable until you walk back. You definitely sweat more on the return journey!

Also, as we continued past the falls to finish the loop, there was a marker which we followed and basically had to crawl up the side of the mountain (which obviously wasn't the right way but it did have a path so we kept pushing forward). Thankfully it connected to the trail and we were back in business We enjoyed the beautiful, cool weather as we made our way through a mossy, lush forest. The water fountain at the start/end of path wasn't working which was a bummer but we had more water in the car. Pack accordingly.

It was at the top of the road and an easy pull through. The park is quiet and friendly. It's under newer management and they seem to be very interested in doing things well. Met both the new owner and manager, both very nice people.
