Very clean, sufficient space between cabins for privacy, family friendly and private fire pits for cooking. Staff was so nice and helped us get settled. Direct access to the river for fishing or just enjoying. We can't wait to bring our family back, and highly recommend! read more

We had a great weekend! The cabin on the river was perfect for sleeping and cooling off from the heat. It's on the small size for visiting inside, but why would you when you have a smokeless fire pit outside with an amazing view of the river? The restroom was a hike, but they were clean with nice hot showers with great water pressure. One bathroom was running low on tp. I let management know and it was attended to immediately. After getting our reservation cancelled 4 days before our trip in Michigan (the Governor wouldn't allow them to open), we turned into panic mode. We looked in Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, literally everywhere we could potentially camp. Wilderness Cove was opening for their first weekend back and thankfully had some availability! We were the first to get there (after an 11hour drive)! And they were extremely accommodating. We ended up needing an extra camp site due to the number of people we had, but it all worked out. The campground itself is pretty quiet, I didn't see any rowdy people nor did we stay up all night due to excessive noise. They sell wood and ice, so make sure you pick some up before they sell out There's full service restrooms as well as a sink near the main office for washing dishes, which was a great added bonus!! Here's the winner though!! With everything going on with COVID, they were cleaning the bathrooms THREE TIMES A DAY! Morning, afternoon, and evening they were making sure the bathrooms were sparkling! Definitely helped when showering, too! The rapids are REAL rapids. We had 5 girls in our group, and 4 of the 5 weren't interested in going again. Of course the guys went while we stayed behind. Expect to potentially flip over and lose anything you may have brought. This isn't an average float, which is why alcohol isn't allowed. Highly recommend camping here, and will definitely be back if we're ever headed to NC! read more

The people staff were super-friendly and their operation is well-run. The launch spot is directly off their property, so you do not have to depend on a bus to take you anywhere and the transit times were convenient with an old school bus being used to pick you up after your choice of a 2-hour or 3-hour float. Their tubes are slightly smaller than that of tubing companies I have used on other rivers and lack headrests. Parking is easy - a gravel lot just off the road. The building where you pay has a small assortment of things such as snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and paddles for sale at reasonable prices. The river itself is a nice, calm river with occasional bits of rapids and has your choice of several small rope swings along the route. read more

I don't usually write bad reviews but we've been coming here for years to go tubing and have always had a great time and recommended it to people. Today however they were extremely busy and I do understand it gets a little hectic, but they're supposed to be open till 4 pm. We got there at 2 after making over a 2 hour drive. This little dude with a bun on top of his head with the sides shaved was in the parking lot being a dick to us and some other people. He said there isn't anymore tubes available so they're closing. I told him we have our own tubes they just need to be inflated, which there was still a guy filling the last of their tubes. He replied, "you don't want to wait in that line:...you need to go down to Green River Cove Tubing". I'll gladly go there from now on. You've lost some loyal customers and someone that has recommended your spot to quite a few people. Not anymore. I know the new owners have fixed it up but you get zero stars as far as I'm concerned for customer service today. read more

Well I tried to contact them about my complaints privately but never got a response. To start off nicely the staff was very nice and the location is pretty cool. We stayed the night in the deluxe cabin. It was absolutely filthy. Huge spider webs in every corner and dust on almost everything. Looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. There was also mold in the shower and just stank. The bed leg was broken and we slept on an incline. There was trash on the floor in the upper loft area. Door wouldn't lock so we could keep our stuff safe while we were out. They need new cleaning people. Prolly won't be there again. read more

My kid (12) and I had a great experience here: 2 nights in tents and 2 in a River Cottage. The tent camping is not quite "roughing it": there's pretty reliable WiFi and the bath house is air conditioned and kept very clean. Moving to the cottage was meant to be easier in my kid, but I didn't expect all the amenities: refrigerator, screened in porch, and very comfy beds. The drive down the mountain is a little nerve-wracking for a city boy, and my car's low clearance had me scraping my underside on some rocky bumps inside the property, but that's just a heads-up, not a complaint. I was there for the 1st annual Broken Chains JC Hope Dealer conference in Hendersonville NC. They have a separate tent camping facility that must open during busier times. I was at the main site which has many more options. My site was private with a small creek behind me and view through the canopy in front. The pad was the small gravel. I camp with backpacker gear and no pad. Slept great. The shower was clean, high pressure, plenty of hot water. I came off the rt. 26 Saluda exit. There are 17 numbered switchbacks or cotter pin extreme "curves" going down the mountain. Inexperienced riders or anyone pulling any trailer do your research and come in the other direction. The hosts were accommodating even meeting me and having me follow to an optional route to my site. 4wds just drive straight up the road to the site which has an optional loop road. There is a parking lot down the road right next to the river. I enjoyed the views and talking to a successful trout fisherman. Oh I forgot to mention the reasonable price. KOA in Kentucky wanted double on the way home. Thats without the great view, privacy, plus quiet. I ended up riding straight through from Hendersonville NC to home rather than give KOA money even after they knocked 10 bucks off still 20 more. read more

This is the best river to tube in the area. We drive in from Asheville. Wilderness Cove has never let us down. They have different tube size options, though they don't have tubes with headrests. They have great parking and showers onsite. They also have these cute little campsites you can stay in. There's also usually a food truck onsite. Go for the three hour float, it's amazing!!! Got to get there early enough, usually by 1pm is safe. Staff looks like a bunch of young kids, but it's run pretty well. The drivers who pick you up at the end of the river are really friendly, even at the end of the day. read more

Great tubing trip with Wilderness Cove! We made a reservation for their "Tube Trackers" and it was well worth it and super fun! This river is part lazy river and part rapids. It was lots of fun going down the rapids. There's not much built up along the river, so you really can enjoy the natural setting. We went on a weekday and hardly anyone else was on the river. Peaceful and fun! We opted for the longer 4 hour trip - you have the option to get out after 1 hour at their shop. We made the stop to get a drink and snack, and then got back on the river. The next take out was 2 hours further down the river. Half of our group departed here - the driver was waiting at the river's edge for us - we were the first group to leave for the day. The rest of the group went another hour to the final take-out. The best rapids were in this last section. The final take-out was well marked. We took the short path to the pick-up location, and the bus was there in less than 10 minutes. This is a family run business, and they were all super friendly and helpful. We were staying in Asheville. The drive was about 40 minutes, and well worth it! read more

My 20-something daughter and I decided to try WC tubing due to it's proximity to Hendersonville. I'm glad we went! For only $9 a tube, we got a great time going down class I & II rapids. Mix this with a shared 6pack of adult beverages, a passing lightning storm, and some slightly chilled water, the two hour trip was a blast! Not recommended for young children in my opinion - I could see my younger nieces and nephews definitely being freaked out by the rolling water and big rocks. I will definitely repeat this on my next visit to the area. read more

Very unprofessional. Half our group had tubes and the other half of us were trying to rent some of their tubes. They were rude and wanted all of those with us who already had tubes to pay 10$ a person just to get in at their spot. After refusing us business they came and kicked us off their property. I am a local and have been going there for years. After this experience i will be telling all local friends and family not to give them our business. Great river for a little bit of tubing excitement. I ran across a few reviews from people saying this river was too dangerous for tubing, but my guess is that they've never been on anything but a lazy river around a hotel. if you have very small Children who can't swim, it may be disconcerting, but the group of boys I took (10,11,13) loved having a few rapids and two rope swings. Great company. Nice people. Good area to picnic and change. Highly recommend WC. read more

I came up to Wilderness Cove to go river tubing. Now I know they cannot control the weather and when I was about five minutes away, it began to downpour. Lightening and thunder, the whole nine yards. My friends and I, scared from the storm, quickly got into the parking lot and wanted to pull into a parking space. Now, most of the lot was gravel and grass and when we pulled in, we saw multiple people pulling into grass. We parked between two large trucks and heard a loud bang. Our car was on top of a tremendous boulder, toppling into a ditch with the back wheels almost off the pavement. We quickly realized what had happened in their "supposed" parking space and ran in to ask for help. They were super sweet and tried to help us pull our car out. We did not get to river tube, but we did meet the staff and have our car be drove into a ditch. Parking Lot is a solid 2/10. read more

Had a large group of ten that ranges from age 12 to 43. Had a very good time. Some of the rapids were pretty rough lot of rocks. You'll for sure want water shoes. Getting in was easy, getting out was tough without them. read more

Let me preface this with saying that at the building where you buy tickets, proper social distance/mask measures are taken and the tubing was a lot of fun. The river has a great amount of slow water and also fast rapids. However, when you have to get on the bus at the end of the day, there are no precautions being taken whatsoever. My group of friends and I went to this place for tubing because we thought that there were proper COVID-19 measures being taken, but the bus completely negated all of the precautions being taken at the ticket stand. Every single row on the bus was full, and about 10 people were even standing in the back of the bus. Only 5 people on the entire bus had on masks, when there were probably around 30 people on the bus. Would it not make sense to fill in every other row on the bus, so that you don't have around 30 people physically touching on a bus during a pandemic? Why would you need to pack that many people on the bus? On the website, it clearly states that no overcrowding will occur on buses and people will have to wear masks. I just want everyone to know that this is not the case at all, and it is extremely unsafe to ride on the buses at this tubing company, especially if you are immunocompromised or around others who are. read more

Super helpful employees, my car had gotten stuck on a rock in the parking lot when the rain was down poring. One employee tried to help us get it unstuck, they let us use their cell phones to call to get help. Very nice, welcoming place. Didn't get to tube because of the weather and the car situation but I bet it would've been fun. read more

My husband and I took our 3 kids tubing at Wilderness Cove and had a wonderful family memory made there. The people that worked there were down to earth, helpful and friendly. You can tell that they genuinely care about their customers that come in there. We were provided with life jackets for our kids, which was great. They had a small store, which was great because we had forgotten our child's' water shoes and were able to buy some water and shoes there.We appreciated that there was a place to shower and change afterwards. We are definitely planning on taking our children back on a regular basis and making more solid family memories. It was great fun, for those who are into outdoor type activities. :) read more
