Checking in, I noticed that the room had a noise machine (a cool mechanical one). I wondered about this, until the first night. If you're on the highway side, it's going to be noisy, so use the machine. The other side is much quieter, so ask accordingly when you book. Even on the "noisy" side though, I would still stay here again in a heart beat.
The place is immaculate. Clean isn't a good enough word to describe it. Rooms are modern and well kept, the staff obviously takes pride in the common areas.
They have the in wall individual room heating/cooling units - but as a huge upgrade, the thermostat isn't on the unit, but rather the fall war, making for much more accurate temperature controls. If you've ever stayed in a hotel where the heater/AC cycles on and off every 5 minutes you know what I mean.
Breakfast was the Hampton standard - they always had hot oatmeal, make your own waffles, bagels, english muffins, danishes, a few cereals, juices, chocolate milk (regular milk was just a pitcher), some fresh cut fruit, bananas, oranges, apples, and a coffee service. There was a rotating hot station - the eggs were edible, but require hot sauce, the meat ranged in quality, but the biscuits they put out one day were incredible. It's free with the room for the whole family, so it was a great setup for us. They even have some seating outside with sun-umbrellas and a nice view of the mountains... and highway. We ate out there every day.
The pool was nice too. It was closed one day, and they had to add chlorine, so I'm guess party people made a mess - but it's a salt water pool so still nicer than most hotels. It even had an on deck shower for before/after swimming - a nice set up.
The best part though was the staff. They were informal, but professional. Nice, occasionally chatty, but I could see they were incredible efficient at keeping this place humming.
If I'm back in the Asheville area, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. read more
