We booked our 3-night stay to celebrate our anniversary on Airbnb. Search for the Fairy Tale Cottage in Alexander, NC and tell her Taryn and Ted sent ya! Every little detail of our stay was perfect! The owner, Brookes, is one of the most accommodating hosts I've ever met. She had a fire set for us upon arrival, fresh flowers in the cabin, electric blanket and space heater cranked every night (we got lucky with beautiful weather in the 60's during our visit in February) and the most amazing breakfast delivered to our bed every morning. It's hard to pick a favorite part of our stay, but if pressed, it would likely be the breakfasts. We had blueberry biscuits with maple bacon on day 1, shredded pork with lime crema and a poached egg on ciabatta day 2 and chocolate chip orange zest French toast with sausage on day 3. All with fresh fruit every day. We wanted for nothing during our stay. Seriously. Somehow Brookes has thought of literally everything you might need for a comfortable stay. We wanted to roast marshmallows over the fire. Guess what? She had extendable roasting sticks waiting for us. We didn't want to brave the outdoor shower after dark but needed to freshen up. Never fear! Lavender wipes in the room. I need coffee within 10 minutes of waking up or it's not pretty. We made a fresh pot of what I think was hazelnut coffee in the room with the cleanest mountain water you'll ever taste (from the sink on our porch) every morning. She even had mini moos and sugar to go with it. The cabins have power so there is a hair dryer for the slightly high maintenance. I.E., me. Ted hurt his back and needed some pain relievers. There were even ibuprofens in the room, people! See what I mean? She thought of everything! If looking for unique, peaceful accommodations "off the grid" but still close enough to Asheville to stay busy during the day, look no further than Outlander Glam Camp. This place is incredible…read more Located in Hendersonville, near Chimney Rock, the mountain views from the Inn are gorgeous, there is a swimming hole with a waterfall just down the hill, and there are tons of humming birds to watch all day. The Inn itself has a rustic vibe with wood everything, quilted blankets on beds, and rocking chairs on the porch. The basement is super fun with foosball, ping pong, pool table and a bowling lane. The home was exactly as described and came with more than enough of the basics. Everything was spotless, and all the appliances were in working order. The master bed and sheets were very comfortable, and we enjoyed the hot tub every day of our stay. The master bath also has a giant Jacuzzi tub, which was wonderful too. The home isn't near any other homes, so it feels like your own private escape. There's also an extra bedroom, but since it was just the two of us, we only walked through it to get to the hot tub. Ridgetop Hideaway is high up on a mountain, and you have to drive a one-lane gravel road to reach it. 4WD or AWD is a must, and this was clearly explained to us when we made the reservation. The drive is a little bumpy, and it can be worrisome if another car is coming from the opposite direction. When that happened to us, luckily the other driver was able to back up and let us pass. The beautiful views made the drive worth it, although my husband was the one driving haha. We didn't have any issues during our stay, and communication was easy from booking to checkout. I would definitely stay with Greybeard Rentals again!

It is Graybeard responsibility To maintain a clean, comfortable living space. This has not been provided. Rachel offered to have the house keeper come back. It would take her hours to clean this house. She also offered us $60 to replace most of our clothes that were ruined with the washing machine. There is a small pool available to guests. The accomodations of the "Daisy Double" were beyond the typical room rental: patio with private entrance; full kitchen; bath with shower; large sleeping area with queen bed, and sitting area with pullout sleeper sofa and a small TV. The furnishings were older and not quite the country decor. We were gone most of the evening and, when we returned, we discovered the power was out. There was no back-up generator or emergency lighting, which made returning to our room from the parking lot treacherous. The power was out all over town due to rain storms (?) and, around 2:00 a.m., the fire department dispatched an engine truck to announce to evacuate. We did not know what was going on, and there was no one to consult. We decided that we were high enough and that we were okay for the time being. We rested uneasily and awoke to a wet carpet and still no electricity. This also meant that the water/plumbing no longer worked. The power returned around 9:00, which was plenty of time before check out at 11:00. As we checked out, we inquired of the morning clerk if there might be concessions made for the night we experienced. The owner, Bill Curtis, offered us a full refund and invited us back for a better experience. We were pleasantly surprised; and, we will give Chimney Rock Inn another stay! (We later found out that the evacuation was for the campgrounds along the river.)

The rooms are small but cozy. Almost every thing you need except a hair dryer. We needed the heat for the morning but it's not evenly distributed thru the house. Front room stayed cool while the bedrooms were stifling. Hard to find some light switches since they don't all work and some are behind the doors. Overall I'm thrilled the town is trying to get back on its feet and I'm happy to support all the businesses.

The breakfasts were delightful, hot coffee, tea and juice are self service while you wait for your meal. The staff was very helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. In the afternoon complimentary cookies and tea are available and from 5-6 complimentary wine and snacks are also available. We found our stay just charming and I would absolutely visit again!

The manager, Christy, went out of her way to make certain that we had an extraordinary stay. The house itself is full of Victorian era furniture. It has three floors. The first day we stayed in a room on the second floor. The second night we stayed in the downstairs room called the A. Reese room. It has its own private entrance and two bathrooms. It was so wonderful. We had free breakfast both days that included bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, granola, and of course, coffee or tea. Use of a small refrigerator and microwave. We had the very best experience! We will definitely go back again!
