A crazy lady back then who made our stay super bad and awkward; she was screaming and was acting super rude while the house was delightful. She kept on saying in front of my boyfriend - while this was a treat for his birthday - " you paid for the cheapest and smallest room; you paid for the cheapest and smallest room". Absolutely horrendous experience, which is a shame because the house is lovely. By the way I emailed the hotel asking for the owner to contact me, or a superviser. She responded "No". Poorest customer service in my life.

As I went in and then looked at all the real people reviews: That's where Patti & Gary come in. As nice as the other inn's and B&B's appeared online, nothing came across as loudly as the reviews of Patti & Gary's Cumberland Falls B&B. So we booked it and couldn't of been any happier about it! A reviewer commented on them being the nicest. people. ever. She was right. The house is exquisite, we arrived late on a Sunday and they left us a note and instructions, as well as twilight goodies, for tea and cookie hour! (Patti bakes something delicious daily for all her guests in the early evening.) Scrumptious! So we went about exploring the house, taking photos, and just as the sun was setting my boyfriend was bringing in the bags, thinking to himself "that Gary sure does think of everything, but he could use a light back...here" and the motion sensor kicked on and all was illuminated. Every morning Gary's breakfast would be a treat to the senses, baked goods, fruit (poached pear with Chantilly cream anyone?), and delicious entrees, fresh coffee, tea, and plenty of help on anything you could possibly need or think to need in Asheville. Amazing! You will not feel more at ease, relaxed or at home, then you will here with Patti & Gary.

The Main House accommodations are good but it is kinda nostalgic in the cabins. We had one of the Front Deak Staff - Joe - really help us out. We were no able to stay on our first reservation because of a sleet storm. Joe was very helpful in getting us set back up for a new reservation. I had several calls and emails from him about special events - one was an art and craft event. Joe was very welcoming when we arrived and was able to give us wedding ceremony info for our Son's upcoming wedding vows. Thanks for all the help Joe. This property also has an adjacent restaurant - Season's which is fabulous. Lots of stuff to do on property and within a short drive to Flat Rock and Hendersonville

It was such a great experience that I would recommend traveling to Hendersonville just to stay at the Elizabeth Leigh and eat at the restaurants on Main St. It's a very relaxing and classy small town. Main St. is a short 10 minute walk from the inn. When I walked into the inn, I was blown away by the elegant antique decor. The pictures online just don't do it justice. I stayed in the Blue Room. It had a large comfortable bed, two chairs, loveseat, wardrobe, and a few other various decor items. All the colors and patterns went together flawlessly. The bathroom was incredible. It had gold and white accents, but still went really well with the blue theme. There were plenty of fresh high quality thick white towels neatly rolled in a basket. The shower had an adjustable head. Water stayed warm the whole time despite showering at the same time as other guests. Breakfast was southern, filling, elegantly served, and tasted amazing. The first breakfast was eggs, bacon, and thick French toast. The next was a cream cheese, berries, and French toast casserole or 'hot dish' depending on where you're from. There was complimentary bottled water, wine, ice cream, homemade white chocolate macadamia cookies, homemade pound cake (which was wonderful), and beer. Now possibly the most enjoyable part, the rest of the property. The inn has a wraparound porch with big white rocking chairs that overlook the yard and the little street in front of the house. The backyard has a fountain, swing in front of a little waterfall pond, and corner area with seating. There are multiple places to have private conversations with your loved one(s). If you get the opportunity, getting to know the owner Cindy and her husband Mike will be the best part of your stay. The inn is an expression of Cindy and her dream to give guests a relaxing, but high quality environment to experience genuine southern hospitality in the gorgeous mountains of western North Carolina.

I could actually see the flag flying when the sun was shining through. Downtown chimney rock is walking distance and a cute town. Lots to do: shopping, eating, mini golf, a brewery and winery! The house itself has so much character and was very clean. Huge house with at least 6 bedrooms. The rooms are decorated amazing, lots of vintage furniture and art. It feels so homey and comfortable. There's a gas fireplace and a big patio to watch the river and enjoy meals.

October 4-6, 2024 We…read morecame to this Inn as it is owned and operated by my friend and former work colleague Michael Gilligan and his lovely wife Jeanne. It was an easy as well as beautiful drive here from our home. Once we reached Downtown it was a block off the Main Street. Parking was free and located in the rear of the property. Luckily on the Friday evening we arrived we were able to get dinner at Harvey's which is onsite as well. The drinks and dinner was superb. Look for separate review on the Restaurant. After dinner we walked downtown to stretch our legs after being in the car as well as get an after dinner drink. Back at the Henderson as we got ready for bed hubby exclaimed how comfortable the bed was as well as everything about the Henderson. The next morning we went down to breakfast. Note it is included with your stay. We thought continental breakfast but this was a freshly prepared meal. Well I was still full from our dinner so I had some toast and tea. Hubby had the crepes and he loved them. After breakfast we enjoyed just taking in the place and sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch. Later we did leave and checked out the local sites Jump Off Rock with beautiful views and hiking trails. As well as miniature golf across from the high school. We did catch a nice nap before dinner as well as checked out the bees located on the roof on the second floor. Note you can buy the honey to take home with you. After another wonderful meal at Harvey's at the Henderson we were ready for bed. The next day a different menu for breakfast, we were sad to be going. It was a wonderful restful and peaceful stay. The inn immediately feels warm and inviting, with a cozy fireplace at the entrance and thoughtful nods to classic cinema with Alfred Hitchcock-inspired decor. Hollywood movies constantly played at the bar adding a nostalgic touch. The food we had was excellent and there is tea and refreshments on each floor. The inn is a Historic Building and be prepared that the rooms can be a bit chilly this time of year in the mountains, be sure to pack warm. We're so grateful for the kindness we experienced during such a difficult time and deeply appreciate all the generosity and care we received. Two years ago, my BF and I escaped here for a birthday weekend retreat! They had a nice $99/night…read moresummer special. Not sure if this rate is current, but I would still ask. The living room was cozy, but we never got a chance to hang out in it -- due to guests already lounging in the space. Be advised that Tom likes to hang out and play on the desktop computer at the foot of the stairs (solitaire is his favorite) -- so don't be surprised. Haha. The hallway fridge (opposite from the living room) was stocked with beer, wine, and soda -- an awesome gesture of hospitality for us tired folks after 6 hours of driving! We stayed in the Foxglove room. The walls were painted a dark, Christmas-tree green and the emergency map was drawn out in Sharpie -- it felt off and the fact that the map was drawn in marker was sketchy. The TV was mounted in the top corner of the room, with a DVD player that didn't work. There was also a bear stuffed animal sitting on the heater unit by the window -- cute, but a little creepy. Unfortunately, the wireless signal in the room wasn't great -- had to go downstairs to get access. One of my favorite aspects of our stay was the 7am coffee that Tom would bring up -- really warm-heartening. Tom stays in a room downstairs, back by the kitchen -- so it's nice to have someone always there. He has a gruff personality, but he's happiest in the kitchen, whipping up delicious food in his silly pants (with patterns such as multi-colored chili peppers). Michele wasn't too friendly and kept mostly to herself. I wish she had attempted to socialize more with us and our fellow house-mates. The dining room was lovely -- the morning light streaming in through the windows is enough to make you sigh happily as you sip on your steaming coffee. There's a little sticker or token on the surface of the glass door in the dining room. I asked Michele about it, and she said that they once had a visitor run into the door -- so this is why it's there. I really appreciated that there were some two additional tables besides the communal table. Tom was an AMAZING chef -- food was gourmet and plentiful! He also is more than happy to answer any questions about the food or cooking in general -- it is his passion. Best part of this B&B was the large porch with ample seating and the gorgeous grounds. Also, Downtown Asheville is not even a mile away -- so you won't have to travel far to grab some grub or a cold one. All and all, we really enjoyed the food and grounds, but we won't be back unless there are interior improvements (room furnishings, etc). ***Their site could also use some updating... If you're familiar with SEO, they're committing a big no-no with all the "invisible" word tags at the bottom of their website. I'm so glad we didn't get a run-of-the-mill hotel, because this inn made our time in Asheville so much more special. It's like staying at the home of a friend who has a great house in a great part of town. We met Tom only, who is the resident chef. His personality is a bit coarse at first - especially if you're expecting that average hotel hospitality fake smiles and whatnot. But know that he's actually very friendly and genuine. We are plant-based eaters and he made sure we had the full, personalized breakfast experience that everyone else had. Even the cookies left in the hallway all day were vegan (and delicious)! I would stay here again and again.

(4.5 stars) A boutique hotel/B&B hybrid in a 1920s building…read morelisted in the National Register of Historic Places, the Princess Anne Hotel is about as far away as you can get (literally and figuratively) from a just-off-the-highway hospitality chain. The location is close enough to downtown so that you can still find food in walking distance yet far enough removed from the noise to give you a bit of quiet. Unlike a downtown hotel, you also don't have to pay through the nose for parking. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. The porch and patio areas make for relaxing outdoor spaces. The Princess Anne is an old building and though generally well-maintained, isn't immune to the occasional odd creak. Our room was, overall, fairly spacious (it included a kitchenette and dining/TV area), the bed was comfortable, and everything worked as it should. That said, the bathroom was tiny, even with the sink located in a different room. If you can abide by its quirks, the Princess Anne offers character, comfort, and charm, all at a fairly good value.

My wife found the Princess Anne Hotel which dates to the early 1920's. One of the sayings on their website was "the luxury of a BnB with the privacy of a hotel". We went all out and reserved one of their 3-room "Master Suite". We ended up with THREE, VERY SPACIOUS and well appointed rooms. The bedroom included a king-size bed with a large flat screen TV attached bed; the kiving room included a sofa bed, upolstered chair and another large flat screen TV. The final room was dining area - complete with a dinig table, four dining chairs, two upholsted chairs and a kirchenette with a 2-burner stovee, a frg amd a microwave. The package my wife booked included an afternoon (5-6p) reception with a complimentary glass of wine or beer (addional glasses could be purchased) and a charcuterie board. You could enjoy your wine and charcuterie in their lounge area, on one of their porches (our choice) or back in your room. THe package also included breakfast which was served in the dining room. There was a breakfast "special of the day" or you could order from the menu. ALL of the staff - from the front desk personell to the servers in the dining room - was great. Great southern hospitality - always cheerful. This truly was a 5-STAR experience.
