Picnic included with our Seclusion Package...
    Latavia C.

Thank You! Thank You! Every little detail with love started when I booked our seclusion package stay at Pinecrest Bed and Breakfast. We were greeted before arrival with a lovely email staying thanks for with information about Asheville and the package we booked. Detail! So, we were definitely excited and couldn't wait felt like a kid waiting on Disney world. Finally we arrive to our 2 night stay and was welcomed with warm smiles and tour of the inn and what to expect during our stay. Details! Love this. Champagne, Snacks, Cheese Board and everything you could think of was in your room. Even sparkling water a must on vacation. Details! Next Day coffee at the door around 7ish then our request for breakfast in bed. Details! Dan & Diane was the best host everything that was included in our package we got plus more. I did not have to think are ask questions it was given. Now, that's service when you feel the love from it. My husband really enjoyed this getaway for his birthday. Thanks so much for everything. You must stay here. This even is for everyone even the locals.

Stayed there during my honeymoon trip. We had wonderful memories there. Janna is a very elegant lady, she definitely knows how to run a classic B&B! One word: beautiful. Two words: worth it. Three words: I highly recommend^_^

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. While the Inn will not guarantee your first choice of room when you make your reservation, we were able to choose from three rooms upon arrival, which included our top two choices. I would guess most B&Bers don't prefer rustic decor, which is why our first choice, the Appalachian Trail Room, was still available. (The others are more luxe, such as the Parisian room or the Moroccan themed room). We loved our room, which is set off from the main house and looks like a log cabin. Tom is a gregarious innkeeper and makes lovely and thoughtful breakfasts. Breakfast is taken in common areas of the inn, such as the solarium or the library, on trays. We took ours into the solarium, where we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden landscaping. I think people are put off by the complicated pricing structure (for instance, it is possible to book w/o spa treatments but it's hard to tell from the website) or the mystery surrounding the reservations process. It is true that some rooms do not have their showers (all have whirlpool tubs in-room) and that the shower for those rooms is located in a common area. However, I believe three of the rooms have a shower in-room as well; ours did.

We did not interact with any staff our entire stay until we were leaving and someone asked us where we left our key. I really liked our Vireo room, but do know the bed space is a bit cramped. We didn't mind because we did not stay long. I think I may have been allergic to the room's room spray because I kept sneezing. Besides this, I loved our room and all the creative spaces. The lounge room of our bedroom was cool too. The bathroom was quite spacious as well. It's a very trendy and intimate home. It was about a 15-20 minute walk into downtown and a quick drive to West Asheville and other popular neighborhoods. To make it more magical, it snowed the night we stayed. (As out-of-towners from California, it was a treat for us to experience this.) We stayed in the Cúrate room, and boy, it did not disappoint! We were blown away by the beautiful and quaint furnishings and layout of the room. Everything was perfectly placed to make our stay as relaxing as can be. In the words of the mister, "I had the best sleep I've ever had away from home." While enjoying a quick breakfast in the pantry room, we got to chat with one of the hostesses, Erica, who was very pleasant to talk to. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer. It really was a short and sweet stay, but we know it won't be our last time at Blind Tiger Asheville. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town. However, the biggest issue is that the property does not currently reflect the photos shown online. When we arrived around 1pm, there was no one available to check us in and no answer when we called. We ended up leaving and returning a couple of hours later after finally hearing back. While waiting on the porch, we noticed several items left out--loose baseboard trim, a broom, a bag of cement, and a detached flexible downspout in the walkway--which immediately gave the impression that the property wasn't being actively maintained. The outdoor areas continued that theme. The side yard and fire pit area looked like they hadn't been used or maintained in some time, with weeds growing through the pebble ground, empty or dead plant pots, and older or broken furniture visible around the property. Inside, there are some pieces that reflect the historic character of the home, but the overall decor felt inconsistent. Some furnishings fit the period, while others felt more like standard, dated pieces that didn't contribute to the charm the property is marketed on. For the price, we expected a more polished and cohesive experience--especially when compared to nearby properties like The Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast, which appeared noticeably well maintained. Overall, we left feeling that the listing photos--many of which appear to be from prior ownership--don't accurately represent the current condition. With attention to upkeep and updated photos, this could be a much stronger experience.

Our room was spacious, pretty, quiet, and relaxing. My sister had an adjoining smaller room and it was fun in the evenings to keep the door open before we went to sleep. Sitting on the inn porch in the evenings was delightful. We chose to stay in Montford instead of right downtown at the suggestion of a local friend. While you can't walk outside and immediately have a dozen restaurants around within a few blocks, there are a couple of good restaurants within a few minutes walk and downtown starts 10 or 15 minutes walk away. In return, you get a quieter leafy neighborhood with lovely architecture that's nice for a morning stroll. Plus we got restaurant delivery a couple of times and ate on the inn porch! Note that rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and there are stairs up to the main entrance.
