Peaceful lodging in Asheville. Om is the preferred place I look to stay when traveling to Asheville. Settled off the beaten path, it's quite the peaceful retreat. The rooms are well appointed and doesn't have the feel of a hotel but Luke that of an inn. They even use real keys to get into the rooms. As it is a non profit organization, the rates are quite reasonable. They also have spa treatments, a vegan breakfast buffet, classes, and even a one mile walking trail out back. I will continue to stay at OM when I'm in Asheville. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel for peace & quiet. No TV, no phones and no clocks in the room. Very friendly staff. Simple, free vegetarian breakfast provided. Nice garden and 1 mile forest hiking trail behind the hotel. Room was spacious and comforter on the bed was ultra soft. Yoga class offered in morning and late afternoon. I did need the front desk to remove several stink bugs from the room, but they did it quickly.

I'd like to visit this place in the spring when then garden is in full bloom. It was a nice spot to spend some quite time. FYI - TV free means there are no TVs in the room. They said some misinterpret that so I'm thinking the wording should change. The music makes the house sound haunted. It's not chimes like at at spa instead it's creepy monk music. I didn't try the Ti Gong?? But my friend really enjoyed it. Check Cindy did an excellent job with the breakfast. Teas are available anytime on the 2nd floor. Nice touch.

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

Every place we've rented has been nice but never great enough to get us to come back for a repeat visit. Those days of bouncing around are over! Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. While the Inn will not guarantee your first choice of room when you make your reservation, we were able to choose from three rooms upon arrival, which included our top two choices. I would guess most B&Bers don't prefer rustic decor, which is why our first choice, the Appalachian Trail Room, was still available. (The others are more luxe, such as the Parisian room or the Moroccan themed room). We loved our room, which is set off from the main house and looks like a log cabin. Tom is a gregarious innkeeper and makes lovely and thoughtful breakfasts. Breakfast is taken in common areas of the inn, such as the solarium or the library, on trays. We took ours into the solarium, where we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden landscaping. I think people are put off by the complicated pricing structure (for instance, it is possible to book w/o spa treatments but it's hard to tell from the website) or the mystery surrounding the reservations process. It is true that some rooms do not have their showers (all have whirlpool tubs in-room) and that the shower for those rooms is located in a common area. However, I believe three of the rooms have a shower in-room as well; ours did.
