Peaceful lodging in Asheville. Om is the preferred place I look to stay when traveling to Asheville. Settled off the beaten path, it's quite the peaceful retreat. The rooms are well appointed and doesn't have the feel of a hotel but Luke that of an inn. They even use real keys to get into the rooms. As it is a non profit organization, the rates are quite reasonable. They also have spa treatments, a vegan breakfast buffet, classes, and even a one mile walking trail out back. I will continue to stay at OM when I'm in Asheville. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel for peace & quiet. No TV, no phones and no clocks in the room. Very friendly staff. Simple, free vegetarian breakfast provided. Nice garden and 1 mile forest hiking trail behind the hotel. Room was spacious and comforter on the bed was ultra soft. Yoga class offered in morning and late afternoon. I did need the front desk to remove several stink bugs from the room, but they did it quickly.

I'd like to visit this place in the spring when then garden is in full bloom. It was a nice spot to spend some quite time. FYI - TV free means there are no TVs in the room. They said some misinterpret that so I'm thinking the wording should change. The music makes the house sound haunted. It's not chimes like at at spa instead it's creepy monk music. I didn't try the Ti Gong?? But my friend really enjoyed it. Check Cindy did an excellent job with the breakfast. Teas are available anytime on the 2nd floor. Nice touch.

It was a last minute booking due to travel plans changing suddenly. If we'd have known the resort would've been so serene, we wouldn't stayed longer. They had a fire going during the day that was so nice and inviting. The pool was wonderful and walked out from the spa and near the fire. They had a nice bar set up by the pool, although we didn't have time to indulge before checking out. There was also a nice swing and play set for kids, and lots of space to run around. There are lots of trails to walk on the property too. The room was pet friendly, and looked out onto a beautiful forest! The bed was comfy and the room was fine for what we needed. Sunset and sunrise were breathtaking. BUT, the best part of the entire experience was the restaurant! Although our server seemed new, he was quick to ask the kitchen on things he didn't know, instead of giving us the wrong answer. We came in for breakfast as a family of four. White table cloths and a beautiful dining room made for the perfect ambiance! We were slightly worried about our kiddos not dressing super fancy and in ball hats, but it didn't matter and we felt very welcome. We ordered a couple typical breakfast items, which were delicious, but I got the shrimp and grits. They were made with a tomato broth instead of a cream, and the seasonings and ingredients tasted like New Orleans gumbo. It was perfection!! My son got blackened fish for breakfast, and he LOVED it! Even the coffee was dark and lovely. The best part, was that the chef came out to our table to greet us, ask us about the meal, as us where we're from and talk to my kids about sports and their team gear they were wearing. We couldn't give him enough compliments! Fun, don't walk to this place!

The retreat basically gives you a course in nutrition while providing a holistic cleanse of everything- you cleanse/reset your digestive system (fasting), your skin (mud packs and sauna), your nervous system (yoga, meditation and support). The staff was so caring - it definitely feels like a service they are providing rather than anything for profit (technically it's a non-profit I think). Also a friend who'd been before was laughing with me about how everyone there looks about twenty years younger than they are-- that was good marketing for us. If you are even slightly tempted to go, I doubt you will be disappointed.

I wanted to book them for tarot card as well, however I wasn't sure where to fit that into our schedule. We had Kristin as our hiking guide and she was so incredibly sweet! Kristin was also a wealth of knowledge and great to have small chat with on the hike up and down. We had Christian as our chef, we still talk about this meal a month later!!! He was so chill and his cooking style fit in perfectly with our group. His style is simple delicious flavors and very seasonal. Our group had a few dietary restrictions which was no issue. The day we went seemed to be short staffed, so things took longer than expected, but our experience overall was great. When they were ready for us, they guided us to the fitting rooms with showers. We were given shoes, robes, towels, and tote bags. There are no official lockers here, so you are welcome to take your tote with you into your private bath. The fitting room had everything you needed. When we were ready we had another long wait, but were invited to enjoy the sauna. They gave us refreshing mint iced washcloths for the sauna that I loved. They have a menu with a bunch of great add-ons, I decided to stick with the water, but my best friend got the coconut water. When our bath was ready, they showed us a map on how to get down to our soak. We walked down a beautiful hill path to our bath overlooking the forest. Even though we started late, they still gave us the full hour. The intercom system seems to be a bit older. There was an awkward moment where they tried to speak to us, but we couldn't hear them over the hot tub bubbles, when I went back to ask them what they said, they never replied. Besides that, we had a wonderful time. Be mindful that the drive up is a bit confusing, you'll want to do a mix of following their signs and your GPS. The experience is also a bit pricey for what it is, but I'm still glad I tried it with my best friend.

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.
