After a long day of searching for a campground that met our needs, we found it!…read more We are tent campers so finding a place where you are not on top of each other and don't have to hike a mile into the woods isn't easy. There are a few tent areas and ours was 4 spots, however, they could've put in about 20, so yes, they are huge! We were able to sprawl out and have all the space we could ever need. This campground is on 30 acres. It has a pool, bathhouse, beach volleyball, playground, sandbox, 2 pavilions, and a small farm. The farm has a bunny, 2 miniature horses, a full-sized horse, goats, and 2 pigs. The owners live on the property and are very accessible and friendly. We needed wood for our fire and they have it for sale. They even deliver it to your site. The price is right (compared to Walmart or Lowes where the bundles of wood are tiny and burn so quick that you run thru $100 in a night) Our $20 in wood lasted for 1.5 days, which is good since we like fire! The site was super quiet and it was like a little oasis. Where we were was right by the river, so you can hear the babbling, quite peaceful! We had a bunch of trees that kept the campsite cool during the day. There are some tent spots in the middle of the camper areas, but luckily they put us away from everything! There is another tent area that sits across the brook (cute little bridge to get to that side) and I couldn't count how many spots could go into that area, it's wide open! The owner is great and the host (Mike) is beyond amazing! We've been camping there for 8 years and love it more each time we go. The camper spots are very spacious and C1-C3 are completely shaded. C3 is the best by far! But you have to book early because C3 is very popular! Some things to know before you go! They do not have water hookups at the sites - you fill your camper tank with water at the office area. They have spots with electric hookups. They have a dump station where you can empty your tanks on your way out. This is a simple & beautiful campground. There are trails to walk/hike, mountain view to see, bathhouse with 3 bathroom/showers, and one with just a bathroom. This is by far the cleanest bathhouse I have ever seen. They show great attention to this campground and make sure all their campers are happy. You can also purchase wood at the office. There are a few t-shirts for sale at the office, as well. If you haven't checked it out, you are truly missing out! This is a great place with great people!

I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

We wanted to spend time hiking in Grayson Highlands & were late to the game on Labor Day weekend & all the camping was booked. After some digging we found this place & it was about 25 mins from the park & an easy drive. If you have ATT there is no service. We lost it about 30 mins before arrival. Our GPS still worked & it was nice to unplug but just a heads up. The important highlights: -Bathrooms are clean & well maintained. -Showers are hot & we never had to wait. -Must pay in cash -Dog friendly. My dog could be offleash & run around. No major roads around & very laidback. -The sights are right by the water so you can hear the creek & the views are nice -each site has a picnic table & firepit. The campsites are pretty close which was hard when 3 carloads with about 15 people showed up & made camp at the site next door. They weren't particularly cognizant of their noise levels & we couldn't sleep until around 11 when I finally went out to ask them to please keep it down. They only stayed one night & that's just par for the course sometimes with camping. The next night was much quieter & we slept great. All in all a great campground. An hourish from Boone & Blowing Rock. Bring supplies in as there aren't any major grocery stores around. Would stay there again if we were in the area.

This campground is old (circa 1970) but I rather call it nostalgic, it's an old school campground which means it's a little cramped and filled with a little bit of every kind of campers and full timers but I was able to navigate the steep entrance, small driveways and our tight site in my 41' Class A Diesel Rig without disconnecting my toad yes I have skills and a navigator in the seat next to me. The good far outweighs any negative comments I've read, this campground is nestled in a serene setting next to a mountain stream, there are lots of trees that filters the sun light most of the day. We stayed in site 77 a very level asphalt site that was long enough and wide enough to accommodate our Motorhome and our toad. Everyone here was extremely friendly and when the sun sets the sound of cracklin camp fires and the smell of burning hardwood fills the air. As far as ambient goes you'd be hard pressed to find a better setting it's only a few miles from town but a million miles from the distractions of the outside world. The not so good, yes every place has a few of them - the water pressure was horrible but fortunately my onboard water pump supplemented this so it wasn't that painful. The electrical supply was a shared distribution box and it was on the opposite side of the utility panel on my bus so you may want to bring an extension cord I had to route the cord under my RV fortunately my onboard 50 amp cord was just long enough. The sewer and water bibs may be located in closer proximity to your neighbor than to you and there were a few muddy spots around the site that we had to avoid and finally the most stressful part of our stay - exiting the campground back onto Hwy 105 it's like merging on to a super speedway with blind curves it can be a little intimidating. This is definitely a campground I'd book again, we loved the atmosphere and all our friendly neighbors and the staff was amazing too...

The men's bathroom had 3 showers, 3 stalls, 1 urinal and 4 sinks. There's a pavilion where I got to hear live music Saturday evening. The creek is amazing and I enjoyed seeing the wildlife at my site (chipmunk and salamander). I'm looking forward to returning in a few months!!

The Linneys stone grind corn meal, corn bread mix, grits, and they sell my favorite: buckwheat pancake mix. This is an authenic, operating water mill, and depending on when you visit, you can see the entire process, from the water wheel driven grind stone to the packaging and selling of the finished products. The Linney's campground adjoins the mill with campsites by the creek. Visiting the mill is like stepping way back in time. No credit cards accepted, and no cell phone signal here. These are good people, and this is an authentic experience.
