Each bedroom in the two story lodge has a feeling of privacy as well as a unique ambiance. Anne has gone to great lengths to make every room unusual and to make every guest feel special. One feels relaxed and at ease as soon as one enter the front door of the Lodge. This was my third trip to Carolina Mountain Lodge, and I look forward to many more. I love waking up to the cool mountain breeze and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and breakfasting on fresh eggs from Anne's happy chickens. I enjoy exploring the quaint mountains towns and seeing the panoramic views from the mountain top. I highly recommend visiting!! The site is a shell of a once bustling mill town. We were given a…read morehistory of the town, founders and insight into what life was like in the early 1900s by our guide Donovan. He was wonderfully knowledgable and made the little town come to life with his descriptions. The owner, Adam, also gave us great information as we peppered him with questions about the property. We learned about the prior residents (and met a former resident, Joe, who happened to meander by for some tea) and about plans to renovate the area. Sadly many of the buildings suffer from vandalism, but there is still enough to tour and learn here. We were allowed to self-explore after Donovan's guide and spend as much time as we wanted. I love that it was chosen for the Hunger Games film, but there is so much more history than just a location site still lingering here. Our hope is that Henry River Village continues to be preserved for the history and education it truly deserves. It was a wonderful experience and we plan to come back for some movie nights and future events.

At first, I thought it would be like other B&Bs we've stayed at in times past: a Victorian house with many guests, packaged snacks and a packaged breakfast from a microwave. I. Was. Wrong. The owners, Patricia and Ralph, greeted us upon arrival ready to take our bags from the car. (We packed light, so there was no need). We were given an in-depth tour of the house along with the histor; it is an incredible story. The B&B is very spacious and cozy throughout the house. There is plenty of room for you to relax, stretch out, read a book in solitude or lounge. We stayed in the Hickory room which was very clean and comfortable. Sweet Tea B&B has a well stocked pantry if you have a craving for something. To end the visit, Ralph made homemade eclairs, blueberry muffins and French toast (bread was homemade too). This is as traditional as a B&B gets. Patricia and Ralph are incredible hosts. They take hosting to an unbeatable level with impeccable detail to every part of your stay. Unlike other B&Bs, Scott and Loren's home offers a secluded and private setting where you can enjoy the grounds without having to tiptoe around other guests or wait for a good spot on the porch to open up. It offers a level of comfort and seclusion not easily found elsewhere. Their property is amazing with gardens throughout and a quietness you cannot find at other B&Bs. They are incredibly welcoming to their home and go out of their way to make you feel appreciated. While we were secluded from civilization, the home itself offered all of the amenities you could ever need. We especially enjoyed exploring the books on the shelves, sitting on the porch, looking at the many species of trees and plant life, and perhaps best of all Scott's French Toast breakfast. I cannot stress enough just how wonderful our stay was and how accommodating they were to our last-minute changes. We are deeply appreciative for their hospitality and every little touch they put in to make our stay a memorable one. We will definitely be back for future stays.
