This hotel looks a little tired and run down from the outside, the parking lot is potholed, has…read morefaded lines, and the small swimming pool at the back is covered and has obviously not been in use for a long time. The hotel smells, the hallways more so than the rooms. That said, our room (ground floor, at the back of hotel next to the disused swimming pool) was obviously recently refurbished and pretty nice. The room had a coffee maker, Roku TV, hair dryer and refrigerator, but unfortunately, no net curtain for daytime privacy, no microwave oven, and no box of tissues. The mattress was clean and comfortable with no bed bugs. I think it's currently overpriced, but they are working to improve the place and there are not many options for hotels in Elizabethton. It's either this place, the Travellers Inn (nope) or something in Johnson City.

I can't describe it, it's everywhere, hallways and rooms. Part of the smell is urine, can smell that in the hallways. But the rest is a mystery. 2nd... Was told at check-in there is no maid service, if I needed clean towels, sheets or some TP, I would have to go the the front desk and get it myself. Then make my own bed. 3rd... The web site said "free hot breakfast" Only thing they had was hot coffee and it was nasty, could probably peel paint off the walls. Maybe that's where the smell was coming from? Probably the only good thing I could say about this place.. no bed bugs.. pest control could also contribute to that smell? If you are coming to Elizabethton and are staying more than one night I strongly suggest you stay in Johnson City.

When you walk in, it's like you have walked back to the 80's or 90's. The lobby is dingy although the employees were very nice. The room was almost suite like in size, bed was comfortable enough. It had the standard fridge, coffee maker, blow dryer, etc. However, the shower head is about 6" above the floor of the tub, so I had to duck under it to wash my head (I am bald, so now shampoo). There were many stains on the ceiling in both the shower and room, could use some cleaning and paint. The toilet paper holder and soap dispenser were about to fall out of the wall. The pool area was nice enough, but with a few ball tournaments going on, way too crowded. There is no breakfast included, and the restaurant had a buffet with the same stuff you find in the free breakfasts, but it turned out to be $15 a person. Although as a diamond member, it was included. Overall, would probably stay again due to its location. But, I would go in knowing it wasn't the typical Hilton quality I have grown to expect.

I would expect the extent of these conditions at a Motel 6, EconoLodge, or Super 8 for a third of the price, but Hampton Inn is usually a middle of the road chain and we paid $175/night for this dump. I expected somewhat higher standards. The problems: tv did not work. window blind did not work. furniture surfaces and lamps dusty. coffee maker filthy. no trash bags in trash cans. large crack in bedside desktop. we checked in late, so no one to really fix anything. The next morning we got a cheap breakfast in a bag, instead of the promised breakfast bar. no lobby coffee makers offered, told to use the filthy room coffee maker. we asked the front desk to have maintenance to fix the broken tv and have housekeeping vacuum, dust, empty trash, and supply fresh towels. when we returned that night - NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. no room service and still a broken tv. the night desk person did move us to a different room, but that room also had filthy coffee maker, dusty surfaces, and a broken towel hanger in bathroom. but at least the tv worked. The room experience was bad, but what was worse was the lack of concern on the part of the property manager. He apologized and promised to refund our stay, because their goal "is to have satisfied customers", but once we left the property, his promises never materialized and all communication was ignored. I imagine this attitude is why the housekeeping staff and maintenance are not doing their jobs...no one cares. The property itself is not terrible, and could be vastly improved quickly with some interested employees and competent management. However, the lack of care and cleanliness is no where near the standards I'd expect from Hampton Inns, and this property is a dump and not worth a stay.

There is a small outdoor seating area and indoor pool. The breakfast was modest in scope but had some quality items and oat milk for those in need. The wifi was quite snappy. I was a tad aggravated with the bathroom but otherwise a good stop here.

My wife did not enjoy the gym situation and thought it was kinda dark and creepy "dungeon like" to go alone. Otherwise the rooms are spacious with all modern amenities. It's always been quiet and restful when we've been there.

When I went to the bathroom there was a spider in the shower. That can happen, but still do not love it. Then to turn on the shower, you have to be inside it already. This is a minor inconvenience, but annoying. I then found another bug on the wall by the bed. There was also no breakfast, which is a bummer. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.
