The living room fireplace was amazing and we had it on constantly. The living room was comfortable and large. The kitchen was a bit small for both of us to work in but it was more than adequate. Both bedrooms were lovely (the king sized bed was super comfortable) and there were plenty of bathrooms to pick from. The sheets and towels were plentiful and plush and it was nice to be able to do laundry. The driveway up to the house was something. Super steep and it made the returns from our walks a bit challenging. And we were glad that it didn't snow to have to tackle it in the ice. The internet was great for keeping up with work but it wasn't sufficient to be able to stream movies or television. But the choices on the satellite TV made up for it. We loved The Getaway and will definiteley be back!

Little things like a balcony door not locking, bedroom door misaligned so it didn't close properly, remote control inoperable due to not the same as tv, and coil style stove caused deduction of one star. Pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and exercise room, along with game room with pool table, ping pong table, Foosball table, and two gaming tvs on site as well.

Most people think to go to the beaches in the summer, and I would have agreed prior to this trip, but now I'm a summer mountain convert! :) First of all, the house is so roomy and cozy for a big family...we were able to fit all 10 of us without any problem. Yes, the house is a bit of a trek to get to, (it is on TOP of a mountain afterall!) but once you are there, it is heavenly. The summer breeze was a perfect escape from the humidity that usually is the norm, and the stars at night were so unbelievable. We spent the days taking long walks, reading/napping in the hammock, doing yoga on the deck, and the kids were playing soccer in the yard. The nights were spent on the porch in rocking chairs with wine, laughter, and a wonderful hot tub to soak away the day. The owners were great to deal with and I would recommend this place to anyone. It's definitely the perfect place to relax and unwind if that's the kind of vacation you are looking for! Now, that being said I know there are a ton of things to do nearby from ziplining, hiking to even mining for gold but again, we didn't really want to leave once we got up to the house. Did I mention the views...GORGEOUS! Can't wait to go back this summer! And, I'm not a huge snow/ski person but I imagine its a true winter wonderland in the colder months.

I think it ended up being like 150$ a night and we had 5 people with us so it came out to like 30$ a head. Anyways, the cabin itself is awesome. Everything you'd need for a weekend getaway. Full kitchen and two full baths. The best part of this place was the view off the back deck. You can see on a clear day for 40+ miles if I was guessing, which I am haha. The cabin also has a hot tub on the back deck which is never a bad idea. The only thing I would say that is a negative is the third bedroom has kinda smallish bed. The ad said it sleeps six but that may have had the couch in mind for the 6th person. We did our trip this winter and had hoped to go skiing up at Beech or possibly Sugar (both very close to the cabin) but the weather has been so crazy warm this winter we didn't even bother. No worries, it was still a excellent weekend getaway. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to make a quick getaway from Charlotte for the weekend or possibly a week. There is just a lot of great outdoor activities up that way to get into.

It is only miles from Beech Mountain Ski resort and a short drive to Banner Elk and Boone. The cottage has three cozy bedrooms, a full kitchen, and two bathrooms. The back deck has a hot tub which has a beutiful overlook view into the Tennessee mountains. There is a walking trail in the back of the house that meets with a hiking trail along a river with multiple waterfalls. It is simply a cozy, wonderful, little getaway.

A group of friends and I visited on New Years to enjoy a mountain ski trip, which turned into a living nightmare. Since it was New Years I am sure you can imagine what other options we had, so we ended up buying a blow up mattress. The worst experience ever! I could talk for hours about how horrible our "chalet rental" was but I'll sum it up and let my pictures talk for themselves. This place was absolutely disgusting. From the moment we walked in you could see dirt everywhere. There was BLOOD on the comforter in one of the bedrooms and when asked to get a new one they returned it a second time with the same blood stains on it! The carpet and couch upstairs smelled like pee, there was "mud" coming out of the downstairs pull out couch, the lights in another bedroom did not work, and there was mildew in the upstairs bathroom carpet. I will never ever recommend this place, nor will I be back. The health inspectors should examine this business and how it is run. Really they should shut them down. No refund or anything was given. Again just check out the photos. I wish I would have taken more of this junk of a place.

If we're talking about atmosphere and scenery, it's a 10 out of 5…read more This place sits at about 5,000 feet on the top of a mountain in a gated community that offers basketball, pickle ball, an 18-hole disc-golf course, a rock-climbing wall, a soccer field, homes on the side of cliffs (decks and hot tubs included), and some of the most dangerous roads I have ever driven. Please keep in mind that me and my son were staying with family members--I cannot afford this place! This is also the only summer they will be staying there due to the dangerously narrow roads with cliffs on each side. But the reward is amazing. Sitting at 5,000 feet with your son and dog and other family members is a cool experience. And the food was good. If you're wondering why the 4--the turkey sandwich only has turkey and lettuce and white bread (no tomato or anything else) and my son's burger was good (not amazing), but fries were very good. The food isn't the selling point here though. It has a has a picnic-like vibe in that regard. I doubt anyone has ever written a review for this place (on any platform) and despite that, a manager still came over to ask how we were doing. That was pretty cool. Genuine. If you ever know anyone in this community and a trip to the top of the mountain is offered for lunch, take it! But only if it's dry and visibility is good for driving purposes.
