Do not buy their frozen chicken pot pie ! It's literally a crust floating on top of a can of chicken soup. Chicken pot pie is supposed to have a bottom crust , this 10 inch pie is $10.00 and I kid you not they take a can of progresso chicken soup and pour it in a pie tin and put a crust on it . Some changes here for Covid. Hours are 9-5 and all items are prepacked in self serve coolers. They haven't done much as far as limiting people or having sanitizer available. Minimally it would have been good to clean the pen they gave to each customer to use. However if you are craving their classic chicken salad you will muddle through. read more

I came to see the hype. Where the hype at? Chicken was alright, didn't have much flavor. Mac and cheese, pot pies were meh. The pies surprised me alright. Like someone put chicken of the sea and frozen veggies in a tin and covered it with a flour crust. So like soup in a tin with a crust cover. I'd pick Harrow's for a nice homemade pie over this. This company used to be pretty good with great pies. Now apparently they have hired some know-it-all nitwit who is flushing this company down the toilet!! I have been noticing this more and more, pathetic portion sizes on chicken. I just had a 26oz pie, and lets face it, this is or should be enough for two persons based on size. This pie did not have enough chicken for one person??? Lot of variety of vegetables, I'm sure designed to cut portion costs on chicken. It was terrible, and the sauce is evolving for the worst?? I doubt they cook their own chicken and make sauce from the stock? It seems they are buying cooked frozen breast meat, thawing it and giving 5 minutes of cooking time in the sauce to consummate the two. just moved back to the area recently, after being gone for 20 years! one of the first things I couldn't wait to do, was to have a willow tree pie! I grew up on them, and I have never found anything like them anywhere else. so I picked one up and was prepared to be in heaven. I spooned out the pie and thought, "omg, this has got to be a joke!" there was virtually no chicken in the chicken pie!!! gone were the giant pieces of tender white chicken filling the entire pie....in its place was a container of gravy, covered by a dry crust, with a smattering of tiny bits of cut up chicken....I strained all the chicken out of the gravy and it made the tiniest little serving of meat imaginable....not enough to feed a single, small child! I have never been so disappointed in my life! needless to say, I won't be ordering again. after reading thru these reviews and seeing the countless other people who have said the exact same experience, I can only hope whomever is in charge at Willow tree will realize they have ruined something special, and correct their mistake Immediately. We use to buy Willow Tree chicken salad back in the 1970's, 80's 90's and beginning of the millennium up to 2005. Then we stopped seeing it where we shop. It always tasted delicious. Today, I saw it at Market Basket Supermarket in Johnston, RI. Got a preweighed container and came home expecting the chicken salad of old. NOT SO! There was dark meat mixed in with the "all white meat" and the chicken was like chewing pieces of plastic as they were hard and overcooked. The mayonnaise was liquid like and so salty. It tasted like we were eating pure celery salt flavor with more salt on top of that. Good thing we didn't add any salt! The brown sugar flavor of old Willow Tree was a distant memory for us and we were so disappointed that we tossed out the rest. We never want to experience a taste like that again and if this is what they are producing these days, then we are saying goodbye to Willow Tree forever! read more

Willow Tree is a family tradition for me. I grew up on this stuff! The chicken salad is made fresh daily and the offerings are always fresh & yummy. The prices on Willow tree goods are much cheaper at this store than in comparison to the local grocery stores as well. As the holidays approach it has always been tradition in my family to pick up some of the hermits (molasses cookies) they sell here. They are the best around and we usually mail them to our relatives out of state, it's the one thing they always ask for! read more

I LOVE WILLOW TREE CHICKEN SALAD!!! That is something I could eat every day for the rest of my life. The store is kinda small and it smells funny when you walk in. If you dont want to cook, they have these killer Willow Tree Chicken Pies that you can warm up in the oven....they are GREAT! A real solid place to go if you love chicken. The chicken salad is usually delicious and is sold in local supermarkets as well. Of course you're better off buying their chicken salad here. They also have their brand new buffalo chicken salad which was very good. I'm surprised they haven't thought of that type sooner. Maybe they will come out with a barbecue chicken salad next. Beyond chicken salad this place has a lot of other good food to offer. They have some really good fried chicken, macaroni, deli salads, and a variety of pies. It's not a place you could probably shop at weekly as the prices are a little higher than the average supermarket's but then again the food quality is also better. read more

I used to get the chicken pie all the time when I lived in Mass. Just found them down here in Publix. Not as good as up north. Chicken was tough and dry. Love the crust and the sauce. Hi, we are from Cumberland, RI and have moved to S. Florida. We were so happy to see our beloved Willow Tree Pie in the Publix down here....Happiness turned to sadness as soon as we sat down for dinner. The crust was cardboard, the chicken had NO taste and was tough...not the beautiful big pieces of tender breast it use to be and the gravy was OK, but not the same. What have you done to your very special product????? Yummy, yum, yum! I overdosed on buffalo. The buffalo chicken salad is addictive and the buffalo chicken dip is heavenly. The deli meats are also very good and prices are very reasonable. I bought apple cinnamon perogies from the freezer section and topped them with Ben & Jerry's cinnamon bun ice cream. Don't judge me, I had the munchies. Got my turkey and some sides. Got 2 of their custard pies and had a piece yesterday . One of the best ones yet. Crust crumbled just alittle. Can't wait to cook the turkey. I think Willow Tree should stick to chicken salad because they're frozen chicken pot pie is disappointing (to be kind). In fairness, what chicken was actually inside the pie was very good, but the sauce was so thin we had to eat it with a spoon, like soup and almost the same consistancy. OK...Willow Tree Chicken Salad is amazing and it is at least $2.00 per pound less expensive here than it is at most grocery stores. They also have pies, chicken pies, prepared foods, a deli counter, fresh turkeys, great rolls for the chicken salad, ice cream cakes, all the different sides you would expect with chicken...You have to go here at least once to see what they have.. I've come here to the storefront many times to get fresh prepared hot and cold food items, and just about everything they sell is tasty. I won't even get into the fact that it's much cheaper to buy the chicken salad here, as it's made fresh on premises daily. But they have other standouts as well. I've had some yummy fried chicken, and baked Mac n cheese from here. I've had chicken pies from here. I've had hot baked turkey breast from here during the fall months. I've had baked seafood dishes (on Wednesday and Friday only). I've tried their baked rolls, scones, cookies, and hermits (yes I said hermits, which are soft molasses cookies, and really good ones too). And, I've recently tried their yummy $5.99 lobster rolls! Overall, everything that I've tried has been very good. It's a great place to visit and check out what they have! read more
