I want to preface my review with the positives, Londyn was our server & was truly so kind, thorough, and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean & all tables have clear views of the TVs on game days. Now for the room for improvement- the food was very underwhelming. Being from the Chicago area previously, I regularly advocate for the Chicago food scene, and this unfortunately did not meet those standards. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, buffalo cauliflower, wings, and sesame ginger salad: -Brussel sprouts: tasted like they weren't seasoned just air fried and drenched in balsamic dressing -Buffalo cauliflower: soggy, unseasoned, runny buffalo sauce -Wings: PERFECTLY CRISPY, but no flavor (we ordered lemon pepper & buffalo) -Sesame ginger salad: sloppy mix of vegetables tossed in an overly sweet sauce with no sesame or ginger flavor in sight If you're not going to eat, this is probably a great spot, but from a food standpoint, there is room for improvement.

The atmosphere was fantastic, our server struck the perfect balance between attentive and giving us space, and both cocktails I tried were creative and delicious. The truffle fries were pretty mediocre, but even that wouldn't have stopped me from giving Arbella five stars. What did? Discovering afterward that a 5% "service charge" had been added to the bill. I really dislike this growing practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees rather than simply pricing their menu accordingly, and it was enough to cost an otherwise excellent experience two stars. Ambiance: 5/5 Arbella absolutely nails the atmosphere. I came here on a date, and it was a great choice for that. The music was good, the lighting and decor created a really intimate vibe, and our booth was comfortable enough that we could settle in and actually enjoy the evening. There was energy in the room without it being so loud or overwhelming that we couldn't have a conversation. Even the menu design and presentation fit the experience. If you're looking for somewhere that feels elevated, interesting, and still comfortable for a date, Arbella definitely checks those boxes. Service: 5/5 Our server was fantastic. This was one of those rare occasions where someone found exactly the right balance between being attentive and not constantly interrupting our date. We never felt forgotten about, but we also had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves and talk. I especially appreciated the recommendations. Whenever we had a question or wanted guidance on what to order, our server was knowledgeable and genuinely helpful rather than simply pushing something on the menu. Excellent service from beginning to end. Drinks & Food: 4/5 The cocktails were easily the highlight. I tried the First You Take The Graham and the Trankilo Melon, and both were really good while also being different enough from what I would normally order to make the experience more memorable. This is exactly what I want from a cocktail bar: drinks that make me curious enough to try something new and then actually deliver. The truffle fries, however, were mid at best. They weren't terrible, but compared with how impressive everything else felt, they were forgettable. I'd absolutely come back for the cocktails, but I'd choose something different to eat next time. About That 5% Service Charge... This is unfortunately where Arbella lost me, and ultimately why I cannot give the experience five stars. I didn't notice until reviewing my bill afterward that a 5% service charge had been added. I strongly dislike this increasingly common practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees to the bill. If operating costs have increased, I would much rather an establishment incorporate those costs transparently into its menu prices so I know what I'm agreeing to pay when I order. Calling it a "service charge" also creates unnecessary confusion, particularly when customers are still expected to decide what to tip their server. At a cocktail-focused establishment, where you may be ordering multiple drinks throughout an evening rather than paying attention to every line of the check, I think fees like this need to be extremely clear and prominent before ordering, not something a customer discovers afterward. For me, it feels like an extra charge for simply using the establishment in exactly the way it was intended to be used. Overall: 4/5 The frustrating part is that without the service charge, this probably would have been a five-star review. Arbella gave us a genuinely great date night: beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, creative cocktails, and a space I otherwise would have happily recommended and returned to. Instead, that 5% fee left a sour final impression on what had been an excellent evening. It may seem small, but transparency around pricing matters to me. Arbella did so much right that I want to come back, but the service charge is significant enough that I would think twice before doing so.

Willow Room has become a familiar haunt for me, both for brunch and dinner, and it never fails to impress. On a sunny Sunday morning at 11:30, I strolled in, having made reservations through OpenTable, to this Lincoln Park gem. Every visit reaffirms that Willow Room is the epitome of cleanliness, freshness, and vibrant vibes. From the moment you walk in, you can't help but be charmed by the sheer cleanliness and inviting atmosphere. It's like stepping into a botanical garden of delectable delights. As someone who's on a mission to quit drinking (today being day 7), I opted for apple juice as my beverage of choice, and it was a refreshing start to my meal. Now, let's talk brunch delights! I embarked on a journey that included Eggs Benedict, a Caesar salad, and Avocado Toast. Each dish was executed to perfection, a testament to the skill of Willow Room's kitchen team. What truly blew me away was the speed at which my food arrived. It was as if they had a magic wand in the kitchen, waving it to deliver my meal with lightning speed. Our waiter, Reese (if memory serves me right), was the embodiment of friendliness and efficiency. He took care of our needs with a warm smile and a direct approach, just the way I prefer it. It's evident that the staff at Willow Room is committed to providing top-notch service. I can't help but sing praises for this place. Whether you're planning a girls' night out, a romantic date night, or even a solo dining experience, Willow Room has got you covered. It's a versatile gem that caters to all occasions with finesse. In conclusion, Willow Room is a sanctuary of delectable experiences, cleanliness, and friendly service. My brunch experience left me with nothing but admiration for this place. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of a memorable brunch or dinner. It's a place where freshness meets friendliness, and every visit is a delightful journey. read more

Arriving for a late dinner, I was greeted by a pleasant low-light ambiance that set a relaxed tone. While the atmosphere was inviting, it didn't venture into the realm of extraordinary upscale aesthetics. The service at Willow Room was undoubtedly a highlight. The staff were very professional and kind throughout my visit. They even offered a wine pairing suggestion, which I wholeheartedly appreciated. As a wine bar, I anticipated some level of priceiness. However, the portion sizes left me with a touch of soulache. Don't get me wrong--the food was good. The burrata accompanied by a few pieces of sourdough was undoubtedly enjoyable, but at $17, it was a bit of a stretch. The gnocchi, while tasty, failed to reach mind-blowing heights. The small serving size further complicates matters. The pricing and portion sizes left me yearning for a more satisfying culinary journey. While it may not be my top recommendation, it's worth considering if you're seeking a wine-centric dining experience accompanied by an intimate atmosphere. Just be prepared for the possibility of sacrificing a bit of value along the way. read more

This is probably one of the least attractive brunch places in Chicago. We went there in a Saturday for brunch and the place was not busy. It started off with the waitress not being able to get the orders correct and continued with a very slow service. The food was mediocre - I had the egg Benny- weird tasteless combo, the eggs were over cooked and the sauce was very bitter hollandaise sauce. The side dish substitutions- we asked to sub the potatoes for veggies (we were told no). We sat outside and enjoyed watching World Cup soccer game on the iPhone. After we paid the bill, the waitress told us there is a TV at the bar insight (Thanks, this info would have been much helpful 1:20 min ago. Back Again - Gemini Pt 2, but this time for brunch!…read more I enjoyed my first dinner experience here so much last week that we had to come right back to try their weekend brunch. From the start, the hostesses were inviting and lovely. The restaurant is very pretty, warmly blending a modern style with a touch of classic French bistro elegance. I'm mostly so impressed with how versatile the restaurant actually can be, shifting seamlessly from an elegant, upscale dinner setting with its beautiful U-shaped marble bar to a bright, whimsical, and enchantingly airy brunch setting. The fully opened bifold windows are adjacent to the pergola-topped patio, letting a glorious, cascading breeze drift through the space to create a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow and a lively weekend energy. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered: Super Green Vegetable Salad: The kale, broccoli, avocado, asparagus, and peas were crisp and fresh. We loved this so much during our first dinner visit last week that we had to order it again for brunch! Spectacular! Nova Lox Platter: The wild salmon topped with diced red onion, capers, and hard-boiled egg crumble, served with an everything bagel and a side of chive cream cheese, was excellent. French Onion Frittata: The rich gruyère and caramelized onions were wonderful. If you're a French onion soup lover like me, this is a can't-miss!! Definitely will be reordered and often. Fantastic! Daily Omelette: Ordered from the special menu, featuring black truffle salsa, mascarpone, and Calabrian chile honey. Also, a few more croutons in the Caesar salad! All that being said, the steak was well seasoned and who can ever object to a tasty side of fries? Dining here, you're getting a healthier experience as opposed to heavy seasoning, butter, sauce, etc, but it's good overall.

Out of State Patron's Review:…read more A 3 star rating under Yelp's grading system means something is good, adequate, even above-average. And it pains me a bit to rate Club Lucky as such. Because so much about this restaurant experience was 5-star outstanding: the service-waitstaff, the food, certain aspects of the ambience, history, the charming village (Bucktown) where the restaurant sits. All exemplary. The one nearly fatal flaw impossible to overcome here? It's the noisiest/loudest restaurant I've ever been to, bar none. Party of 7 dining here: 2 Chicago metro locals, 2 Californian's, 1 Floridian & 2 North Carolinan's. Commemorating a special 80th birthday for the newly relocated Floridian. Great guy & server Ross soon explained a bit about the restaurant's history during the meal: it's role as a speakeasy during prohibition. A sorta gangland hangout. Whereby at least one unfortunate soul was "eliminated" via gunshot whilst standing in the same bar area as present. And finally (and most critically for future fate as a restaurant as it were), the place used to be a Polish dancehall. With design and acoustical renderings intended to capture & trap music in the current dining area. 80 odd years later since inception, I'd say the intent of that goal was most fully realized, lol. I mean, if you subtract this critical flaw, you've got a total 5-star dining experience to emphasize an earlier thought. As it stands now regretably however, it's nearly impossible to carry on any conversation here without practically shouting at least a little bit. Not sure any mitigation efforts could do much about this, or if it's played up as a unique character trait of the place perhaps? But, even with this rather glaring imperfection, the place still rocks (both literally & figuratively as it is). Couldn't finish the review without further mention of the food. Think classic Italian comfort. 3 of the 7 of our party got the baked Salmon and loved it. One got the Chicken Francese, another getting Chicken Parm and myself a pasta-meatball combination. Might be leaving out a final dish? All great, with nary a complaint. Polished off with various drinks & cocktails including the house specialty martini's, a must try if you're into those. Classic touch of a complimentary, candle-lit slice of Tiramisu for the 80th birtday member at the end. Great night. And wouldn't have any qualms about a future visit, even with the noise issue. Amen.

It was dark so I didn't get many photos, but just go, you have to experience it.

Cocktails are delicious and the ambiance is very cozy and moody. I loved everything we tried (fries, croquettes and burger are not pictured but still really good) and it's a plus to be able to order from the SKY menu. It's truly the best of both worlds. The service was also very friendly and guided us through entrance, ordering and exit. I will definitely return.

The service felt pushy, which I didn't like. I also did not appreciate basing the tip amount on post surcharge bill. I find that abusive. Oh and also it is really overpriced for the portions they serve. Not sure if I'll be back.

The staff was friendly and nice, but it took forever for us to get a drink order in on a not particularly busy day, the food coming out also took quite a bit of time, and generally the service was slightly awkward and weird. We sat on the "patio" which is actually more of a greenhouse, the music was too loud, which then made people talk loudly and the experience was slightly overwhelming. While the group of people I went with are big on dessert and wanted it, we wanted to leave more and ended up doing so and going somewhere else. Given that I went with someone who is a little more high-profile in Chicago, we also felt gawked at and had people walking by the table that were working just to get a look. Maybe we just came in on a off night, but it definitely killed the vibe.
