I will just give you the CliffNotes version in that the park is very clean - perfect for running/jogging, walking, and sitting around to enjoy the outdoors. Here's the new impression about how kid friendly it is. First off, I love their splash pad. The best part of it is it's free! We tend to go on cooler/cloudy days when the summer sun is not beating down on us. They have benches and tables for families to sit around the splash pad. You can't bring your pets or food to the area. After a lot of running and laughing, my son's eyes do get a little red from the chlorine, so wear glasses or goggles if you want to avoid this. Right next to the splash pad is the playground. I'm so glad that it is covered, so we can go when it's sunny outside, but not too hot. The playground is a good place for the kiddo to either warm up or cool down before the splash pad. I would say the splash pad is such a fun distraction that my son spends the majority of his time at the splash pad and the playground is just a second thought. It's never super crowded even on the weekends. Perfect amount of kids playing around. There's a nice private parking lot right next to the splash pad. I'll be back with the family again and again.

There's white, yellow and monarch butterflies dancing everywhere as well as dragonflies in the spring. I also saw tons of cute lady bugs sprinkled everywhere and beautiful birds! Not to mention the nature is just singing here and the walk can just transport you into a peaceful state of mind. It has an area where people can fish, or take out their boat, and I always love to bring my pups out here. The full loop is about 15-20 minutes depending on how quickly you walk. Oh and you have to drive down a dirt path to get here (not too bad). I love coming here to clear my mind!

Marine Creek Lake is a 250-acre no wake lake (more tranquil waters) which provides a welcome, peaceful respite from hectic city life. The 6-mile trail adjacent to the lake offers walking and running opportunities. At the lake, boating/kayaking/canoeing, swimming and fishing--with catfish here and there and bass on the riprap--are some of the main activities people participated in. After researching various parks in and around the Fort Worth area for a recent visit, I decided on Marine Creek Lake. Although unconventional in the park area, I also think the Marine Creek Lake area has everything I enjoy re: parks like verdure, beautiful landscapes, lots of trees, cool people, places to relax and interesting activities. Personally, one of my favorite activities was just walking along the deck and looking out at the lake waters and everything in the background. I met, rather serendipitously, two cool people who were also visiting Marine Creek Lake. One guy was there mainly to fish and let me borrow his fishing pole but all I caught was some seaweed-like aquatic plants, which he said is more than what he caught. (Haha) In the beginning of each try, I could feel something substantial and heavy underwater, but no dice. Another person was there walking his Chihuahua-Corgi mix named Finny. Parking here was easy, as I recall. The Marine Creek Lake area wasn't crowded, so the adjacent parking lot had lots of spaces available on a Saturday morning. It's a little bit of a windy road to get to it if you go to the back way like I did. There is some beautiful views of the lake on a couple of the terms you also might want to take a nap because my granddaughter and I almost got lost. She also tried to kill me by forcing me up this very steep hill. All in all, it's a great place and I can't wait to return. This time of year is great for watching the sunset.

The trails are rocky & hilly, so if you are hiking, do so in good shoes. I kept slipping in my regular gym shoes, but it was pretty and fun. We didn't stay very long because we came during the latter part of the day. It was our first time here and since we are unfamiliar with the trails, we didn't want to get "lost." We will definitely be back to explore this park more.

Plus, it's located next to the Haltom City Rec Center so you have access to indoor basketball courts (though I'm not sure if you have to be a resident to use them). This park is almost perfect, till you see some areas that were either abandoned projects or vandalized equipment. But overall, the rest of the park is great.

The last few times I visited during weekends or holidays, it was pretty crowded with teenagers running around and a lot more activity. But this time it was quiet and you could hear the birds, so peaceful. Everyone around the trail was very respectful. There were people cycling, walking their dogs, hiking, and just enjoying the outdoors. I also love that there are different trail options depending on how long or challenging you want your walk to be. There's a nice mix of uphill and downhill sections, which makes it even better. Plus, the nearby dam area is perfect for taking a break and cooling down. One thing I really appreciated this visit was how clean everything looked. Previously, I had noticed quite a bit of littering, especially broken glass bottles, which can be really dangerous for dogs. Thankfully, this time around the trail looked much cleaner and better maintained.

The small parking lot was packed and a few cars were parked in the street nearby - maneuvering in and out was tight. While the views were nice, the amount of trash overflowing trash bins and strewn across grass and trails created an unsavory impression--unsure whether trash is often neglected at this park or if it is due to decreased trash pick-up due to COVID-19. Additionally, the one (and only) large port-a-John situated by the parking lot and main park trail emitted a pungent odor which could not be avoided from several feet away...I was wishing for some flowers to stick my face in after! Based on the first visit and distance from home, this isn't a park I'll eagerly return to or recommend to friends though I'd be interested in visiting post-COVID to see if it's any less crowded and better maintained.
