Seems like the owner blocked out the calendar AFTER we submitted our reservation, something you absolutely cannot do on a platform like Airbnb and VRBO -- in fact, if property owners did that on those platforms, they would be fined. Needless to say, with all the time you place into securing a rental, this was a complete waste of my time. Save yourself the headache and book with a more reliable source.

The drive there was a bit grooling, due to a bike race. When we finally got there, we put the horse away in their stalls and found some port in the living room, Nice! The room was nice and clean, breakfast was wonderful, good coffee, Tom was most helpful in giving me safe trails to take my daughter, great wifi, and he had some wonderful guests! If I wanted the hotel charge on my credit card, I would have charged it to my credit card originally. It's fine overall, just a slight inconvenience. Edit: I also just remembered. We checked in really late. Probably around 2:30 am. We were driving from Seattle to Oakland. They called me, I think once or twice to find out when or if we were checking in still. Some time around 11 or 11:30 PM. I've never had that happen before. Thought that was weird.

I booked the stay so I would have a few days to decompress after a visit to a very ill friend that I knew would be very stressful. I didn't realize it was the same week as dream force. Every hotel in town was twice or three times the price so I was very glad to have a room at the end. However, my friend asked me to stay another few days as this was probably going to be the last time I would see them. I was able to change my flight and my other hotels back east, one of which had a no changes policy, but was generous enough to let me rebook. I explained the situation with the seal rock in and I understood from them that I would forfeit the first night deposit. I tried to change the stay to reflect my new dates back in town, but of course they are booked up for dream force. I did double check, and I saw that my room had been rebooked within an hour of canceling the reservation, I asked them since they had rebooked it quickly that perhaps I could get my deposit back, but I've heard nothing from them. Given that not even an hour transpired between me canceling my short stay and then rebooking the entire stay. I think it's really unfair for a local business to treat a local resident this way. Legally they don't owe me anything and it was clear that I would have to forfeit that night if I canceled, but it's amazing to me that two large hotel corporations were much kinder to me than the Seal Rock Inn. Believe it or not I still hope to stay there someday, but I'm sorely disappointed that they are making double the price they expected for my room for one night and they're not willing to waive that deposit. I'm sure they booked it for more than I have paid.
