My family rented 181 Dipsea for 2 months and because of the Coronavirus we got to see Seadrift Realty and the owner's true character. Cold greed like I've never seen before. The sort of character that makes your skin creep up, like you're watching a horror film. A few individuals I'd like to make you beware of are Mr. O'Connor (owner of 181 Dipsea), Ashley and Betsy (both from Seadrift realty). I couldn't put their full names because of Yelp's policy. I'm writing this review, a day after being forced to move out and risk transmitting Covid-19 to my father, with no where else to go. A "shelter at home" order and "moratorium on evictions" has been put in place by the Governor of California. My dad is one of the highest risk categories of death for the Virus according to his cancer doctor, the CDC, and the World Health Organization. Here are some details that I wanted to make future renters and the Stinson community aware of. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic center. Our family was in shock but we moved into a charming house, 181 Dipsea, while he began his chemo treatments just over the hill from Stinson. At first everything was ideal, the house was charming, birds flying around in the lagoon, soft waves crashing on the beach, my dad could relax from the mental and physical exhaustion from one of the most lethal cancers. My dad then decided he'd like to spend his days in Jackson hole because of new developments with the Coronavirus. We ofcourse moved him there even if that would put our family through financial strain. I stayed at the Stinson house to close it out and pack our things before our rental contract was over. Then the Coronavirus became a harsh reality around March 11th globally. Because of how novel the virus was, even the cancer doctors were grappling with how to communicate to their patients. It wasn't until a few days before our rent contract would end on April 4th 2020, that our cancer doctor recommended to our family through a Zoom call that I needed to be quarantined for at least 7 more days after the rental contract was due (14 days since last possible exposure). When Mr. O'Connor, Ashley, and Betsy heard of our precarious situation, they showed their true colors. Here are a few quotes from Mr. O'Connor: "Certainly you can quarantine as you wish elsewhere, and if that is not to your taste I have nothing to say about that, which is your issue, not mine." "Accordingly, if you persist in holding over, we expect remuneration at a rate of $500 per day, our normal rate in April. If you do not pay this amount through Seadrift Realty or otherwise, we will have no recourse but to institute a lawsuit against you to collect this amount plus court costs." I've attached both his first and second email below and removed full names as per Yelp's policy. There are a lot of amazing and good people in Stinson and owners of Seadrift properties. But based on how this situation was handled, I believe the community and future renters, would be better without the evil from Betsy, Ashley and Mr. O'Connor. read more

Back at Seadrift for another amazing vacation. We were lucky enough to score 156 Seadrift this time. Right on the ocean and perfect for our family. Hats to the Seadrift team (Ashley and Betsy) for being so wonderful and flexible as to swap weekends to accommodate us. Double thanks to the cleaning crew who found my grandson's iPhone and returned it. We had looked everywhere (we thought) and were sure it was gone. I think the Seadrift homeownership association should be aware of this company. Seadrift Realty represents many wonderful properties but does not represent their client's interest really well. Our family has stayed in the Stinson Beach area for several Summers. We have used Seadrift Realty for three of these vacations and have had poor service each time. I would recommend using alternative resources, if available. Otherwise, lower your expectations so you don't get frustrated trying to set up your vacation arrangements. In all fairness to Seadrift Realty, we tried to address these issues with them but continue to experience and hear from other renters that they felt the same lack of service and professionalism from this company. Renting property should be easy. I would use Homeaway.com if I owned property out there. Sure hope that helps you and more importantly them. read more

On several occasions we used the services of Seadrift rentals in Stinson Beach. We really like the area and the beach is fantastic. They have terrific properties to rent and lease. However ... they are VERY expensive. They charged me a $75 cancellation fee for a property I was interested in renting. But I never signed the contract they sent me. When a family member had to go through medical treatment for cancer ... our plans changed and we could not use the house as we originally thought. Several times I emailed and called and asked them to refund the $75 they charged me. They never did. Since I did not have a contract in place I felt I should not be subject to the cancellation fee. They charged me the fee and I charge them with bad customer service. Shame on you for not following your own rules. read more

Best. vacation. ever. Seriously. Last week, we rented a house on Dipsea Road, with Seadrift Lagoon in the back and views of Bolinas Lagoon in the front yard. What a fabulous location! We were able to kayak and stand-up paddle board right off our back porch; the private Seadrift ocean beach was a 5 minute walk; awesome hiking trails are nearby. How amazing is it that I had a fab beach vacation and didn't have to get on an airplane? The money I saved on airfare made the somewhat-steep price of the rental much easier to stomach. Anyway, I highly recommend Seadrift for my fellow Bay Area peeps. Go there. Stay there. read more

Seadrift rentals are just nothing but amazing. We had AGAIN a super time at a property on lagoon side. Taking canoes out every day with the kids, fishing & water gun fights at own private dock are just wonderful. Tennis, private beach & nice walk with flashlights after dinner hearing waves in the background..... hard to ask more for such a nice family vacation. I open my eyes to peaceful water view; morning coffee, cocktails all day with the same gorgeous view. Looking at the pelican diving for treats diff time of the days is such a treat. Water access property rental is not cheap, but worth every penny of it. Gee just wish there are more reasonable priced properties available for grab. High recommend vacation at Seadrift community! read more

Perfect place to rent a home for a week -- I prefer the Ocean side, but some people like homes on the lagoon. I rented a home out there for my 40th birthday and invited about 60 people out for a BBQ. I love Stinson -- it and Bolinas just up the road still have that old west marin and old california beach town feel. Unspoiled. Authentic. No Gap, Banana Republic. God forbid a Starbuck's ever try to open up there ... West Marin would secede ... we'd have an Iritrea on our hands. Enjoy! read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews but I feel so taken advantage of that I want to warn other renters about Seadrift Realty. We have rented homes for several summers in Stinson Beach and have always had a great experience. This summer we rented a 5 bedroom home from Seadrift for which we paid over $5000 for a week which included the cleaning fee PLUS a $1000 security deposit. When we arrived at the home, we were very happy as it is a lovely 5 bedroom beach house. There were a few items that needed repair and the usual wear and tear to be expected at a beach home such as a broken beach umbrella, boogie boards that were missing straps, scratches on the floor and some scuffs to the walls. The lamp shades in the master bedroom were broken but we did not think to mention it to Seadrift. We also found the owners clothes still in the dirty drawers. What I should have done is taken pictures of ALL of it and insisted on a walk through similar to renting a car when they document any pre-existing dings.. However, given that we had never had issues with any rental in the past, we did not think to do this. When we left the house at the end of the week, every room had been cleaned by us. To our surprise I got a bill from Seadrift deducting $600 from my security deposit to cover washing the duvet covers, wiping marks from walls and "extra cleaning". Any renter from Seadrift realty should be aware that you should not expect to get your security deposit back no matter how pristine you leave the property. We tried very hard to discuss the pre-existing issues with the agency and resolve this discrepancy but they basically said too bad. They were completely unprofessional and it took me 7 weeks to get $300 of my security deposit back. read more
