Stayed in late January for MLK weekend, beachfront in one of their properties. Everything went very well, no issues at all. Property was pristine, beachfront, well appointed. Biggest problem is availability, which, ok. Trying to book again but its getting to be high season and everything is booked out and what's available is fairly expensive. read more

We do like to support local, small businesses especially with vacation rentals where you can avoid those big fees from VRBO and AIRBNB. I found a property to book this Fall, 2026 that was available on the calendar -- all was set and confirmed, although I was concerned I did not receive any receipt or email confirmation. I was then told that the owner had booked another party for the dates we submitted, and so our reservation was not accepted although it was indeed 'confirmed' soon after I booked. Seems like the owner blocked out the calendar AFTER we submitted our reservation, something you absolutely cannot do on a platform like Airbnb and VRBO -- in fact, if property owners did that on those platforms, they would be fined. Needless to say, with all the time you place into securing a rental, this was a complete waste of my time. Save yourself the headache and book with a more reliable source. read more

I had a terrible experience with Hwy One. I booked on Airbnb for a long holiday weekend. I had friends visiting and I was celebrating my bday at the beach and had dinner in Stinson. The home owners first appeared friendly then, walked into my Airbnb while I was naked and proceeded to write and call with harassing messages. It was both a violation of privacy and they jumped to the conclusion we were hosting a party in a tiny home because people were meeting there before we went out for dinner. It was the worst Airbnb experience I've had. read more

I came up with the idea to spend 4th of July in Stinson Beach--oh about 3 weeks before the holiday. So after going through every VRBO listing and seeing them all rented was just fabulous; then I did a Google search and found Highway One Properties and gave them a call. They had a couple of place still available because they were not beach front, but the one we pick turned out to be a great location--you could still hear the ocean up on the hill. The Charcoal Weber was great and so was the hot tub even though is was way small. The minus stars are for--not contacting the owner to see if they would take 4 nights instead of 5--I paid for 5 even though we were not going to be there; stove leaked gas when you used the burners; had to air out house because you could still smell the fumigation chemicals; dishwasher did not work, furniture was--and I know this is not Highway One's fault, but...--horribly uncomfortable. I believe we were the first ones to stay in the house, so things can only improve. I would use them again, but I will start 6 months in advance! read more

Working with Highway One properties was a total disappointment. To begin with, the booking of the house was difficult due to the lack of attention to detail and follow through of hwyone (confirmed our dates, then tried to cancel, delays on contracts, wrong information). When we arrived, the house was not in order including half of the light bulbs were burnt out, the outdoor lights did not work, no hangers, the refrigerator was broken, the second fridge and oven in the guest house had been removed (surprise), the hot tub had not been cleaned, and the garbage not emptied from the outside bins. This is inexcusable. They also like to try and charge you for additional things after you leave, like claiming extra clean up etc. Buyer beware. I suggest working with Seadrift Realty. We rented other 4 houses from Seadrift Realty and they are awesome to work with. We experienced nothing but fantastic service (they even leave you a welcome gift upon arrival). read more

Pretty disappointed in my experience with Highway One. We were trying to book a weekend getaway for 9 people in June, and after much research on different options settled on one of their properties (anyone who has ever planned a house rental for 8-10 people knows that there is a lot of pre-work that goes in before actually choosing a house!). The property we wanted was available on VRBO as well as on Highway One's website, so we decided to book directly. I entered my dates of stay, contact information and payment details and received a confirmation page on their website. However, I never received an email so I called their office to confirm everything was received in order. The agent I spoke to informed me that the property has a 1 week minimum during the summer, which was not posted ANYWHERE on either their own rental listing or on the VRBO page. Both systems allowed me to select the two weekend nights desired and complete the booking process. I kindly asked her if an exception could be made due to their clerical error, which she refused and said "it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience" for us since we had just booked that day. How incredibly rude to disregard all of the time and research we put into selecting the house before even contacting them. She didn't offer any other housing options or solutions to rectify their error. The place looked amazing and we would have loved to stay there, but after this snafu I'll definitely take future business elsewhere. read more

We had a great experience renting a Stinson Beach cottage through Highway One Properties. The whole process was so effortless and smooth that it made us suspicious - you know, like this is too good to be true. Only it was true. And the little cottage we rented was perfect and looked exactly like the photos that were posted on the website. We've been burned renting properties listed on VRBO. The owners are unreachable once they have their payment so if something doesn't work, like the 40 jet hot tub they list in the headline description of the property, good luck. I'll only consider renting a Stinson Beach vacation property if it's through Highway One. read more

The staff at Hwy 1 Propeties has been super helpful at finding nice accomodations for my family whether right on the beach or just a short walk away. I had visited Highway One properties in Stinson twice in May to choose just the right place for my 2 week vacation in July. I put a lot of time into not only choosing this place but clearing my very busy schedule as a health professional. I was assured that the construction on my property of choice would be completed well before my arrival. This rental agency made certain that I paid all of my money and completed the rental agreement on time, in other words they made certain that I handled my end. Yet they didn't handle their end. I called them a couple of days prior to my arrival to see if the kitchen had a blender. I didn't receive a return call for a couple of days. Finally, I called every hour until someone finally answered. She told me that she was going to call me that same day but had been very busy. She informed me that the construction on the property wasn't complete and wondered if this would bother me. Of course it would. I had chosen this spot for it's privacy and quiet so that I would be completely immersed in the sounds and smells of the ocean. I had been very clear about all of this and was ASSURED that the work would be complete. I asked if they had anything else that they could offer me for this period. She said they had a couple of lovely but larger homes that were more expensive. I suggested that this should be their responsibility rather than mine since I was the one being so terribly inconvenienced. This suggestion was met with a brick wall of silence. I did receive an immediate refund and I called up to Sea Ranch rentals. I was able to schedule another home but it was many hours further and very inconvenient for me for many reasons. I still find it difficult to understand why I had to call them to find this out. If I knew I had clients coming and I knew there had been construction going on I would've checked much earlier to be certain that the work was complete. We all know that construction gets delayed and I had been assured that the work would be finished well before my arrival. Obviously, one puts a lot of time and energy into making vacation plans in terms of work and family obligations. It seems to me that I would've bent over backwards to accommodate a guest that was in this situation even if it meant putting them in a larger home and waving the difference in cost. It is not only myself who has been terribly inconvenienced by this experience. My mother's 91st birthday falls during this period, and my sister and I had planned a special catered lunch for her on the deck. I also had lunch dates with three very close girlfriends who had planned their days away from their work in order to spend the day with me at Stinson. I also had a bodywork session scheduled with someone from Mill Valley who was going to come out and spend several hours taking care of me. Obviously, none of these people were able to make the trip to Sea Ranch. so you can see the far-reaching consequences of this situation for me. This simply was handled so disrespectfully by all concerned that I had to let all of you on YELP know so that you would be very wary of these people at Highway One Properties. Being on the receiving end of all of this, their policies are weighted heavily towards the homeowner and the agency rather than the renter. That isn't right, it isn't fair, it isn't just, and it is downright unethical. read more

We had a great time in Stinson Beach. The people at Highway One Properties were great until the end of our trip. I made a mistake and left the brand new clothes I bought for my 4 children for a black tie wedding in the house. I remembered the next day and the Highway One people told me the outfits were not there. Some one made out with some great clothes! Either the Highway One people are thieves, or their cleaners are. Hi! My name is Staci and my now husband and I visited Stinson Beach early Feb 2012. We fell in love with it and decided to get married there 2 months later. We basically spoke with all three property managers in the are and our choice was clear immediately. We physically went into Highway One Properties and told them our plan. They allowed us physically preview as many houses as we wanted. Our needs were to accommodate ourselves and 48 guest AND a home that would accommodate a three weekend event. Our experience was more than stellar. The professionalism, customer service, choices, working with numerous personalities, negotiating with the owners for "extra" needs. It goes on & on! Between Jeanne, Amy & Margo we couldn't have been taken care of more diligently. All the homes were clean and were exactly as described. We had 50 guest and not ONE person had a negative experience. We rented beach front 4 bedrooms to tiny one bedroom bungalows. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your work in making our wedding weekend so perfect! Not one hiccup! Who does that?? Wow. We rented the most perfect cottage on the beach. Totally private, very clean, extremely comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed for the perfect getaway for two. While we were sipping wine in the hot tub on the deck, three beautiful deer walked right by us. Getting our keys early was no problem, but when they gave us a number to call day or night with any questions, we had an extra level of comfort. Highway One manages our beach house - we use it some and they book vacation rentals when we don't need it. The Highway One team makes it easy to both renti the place and have ownership access to it. They are great at keeping our home booked up when we want that and as property managers they keep the place runningwell. They are a team of hard working folks and you can reach them 7 days a week with all manner of issues. I work with Carey and Margaux most (terrific) and to me they are our on-site extra hands both for booking and for managing needed repairs and updates. The relationship is quite flexible. We also book some of our own rentals on line as well and Highway One accommodates that kind of sharing and watches out for us during those stays. We wouldn't be able to rent our property without them. If you are a property owner (or a potential renter), using Highway One will not be a mistake. You can trust them. read more

We had a horrible experience with Highway One Properties. We were charged $300 after we left for extra garbage bags and for using the hot tub, which we have not used. Do yourself a favor and stay away of this company. The ladies there were really nice until we signed the contract and paid. After that we encounter a really rude behavior. Also make sure you are over 55 if you want to rent something at Stinson Beach because at 10:00 PM you have to be inside the house, otherwise $500 fine will apply. read more

I will not rent through them again as twice now, they send over contracts and agree to terms and then rescind due to lack of relationship/communication with owners. They should not be representing owners who change their mind on terms, length of stay, cost, etc after contract is drawn up. Waste of time and full of disappointment. read more

Just finished our third year in a row renting from Highway One Properties. Same house, this time for two whole weeks instead of one. Booking online very easy; contracts come a few days later. After welcoming us, the staff makes it clear they want to know if everything is ok, if anything needs replacing, etc. House was turnkey ready, scrubbed clean and neat and in order. Ok, folks, it's a beach rental, not Versailles. Light bulbs do burn out; more in the drawer or call Highway One if that's too tough a job for you. Garbage may be in outdoor bins because pickup is mid-week; no drama; indoors everything clean as a whistle. We're already trying to decide on dates for next year. BTW, next door a lovely family from Novato was awakened late on a Friday night because another lovely family from Sacramento showed up...that house had been double-booked by the owner who was NOT listed with Highway One Properties. I wouldn't do it any other way. read more

I am writing this review as someone who is a liaison for one of Highway One Properties' clients who has owned a rental home at Stinson Beach (managed by Highway One Properties) for the past almost decade (this review is written in March 2017). All of the Staff is superior, knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient. Their "can-do" attitude is infectious and their ability to find creative solutions to any issue that arises is unparalleled. They all care for the property as if it were their own, and since I am a fierce advocate for my client, I am very careful about who I recommend. We've always talked about renting a house at Stinson Beach, but never got around to it until last summer. After about 2 minutes in the house, we agreed this was officially a tradition -- and now we're going back to the same place this summer. More than just the house being amazing, Highway One Properties deserves a shoutout. I looked around on a variety of sites, but the folks at Highway One spent the time to help me find the perfect fit for our family and our list of needs. The website is honest and full of great photos and info on the rentals -- and everyone that picked up the phone at Highway One Properties knew the details and could answer any questions. The only problem we had was that I accidentally drove away with the keys -- and they took me on my word that I would mail them back the next day. (And I did!) What an absolute pleasure. read more

As a property owner we have used Highway One Property for over 10 years and love working with Jeannie, Margaux, Amy and Sarah. They are always cheerful and happy to fix any small problem right away. The houses rent from Friday to Friday and the trash gets picked up on Wednesdays so there will always be some trash in the bins from the prior renter until pick up day (asking the trash company to change the schedule to Friday met with deaf ears). If we are booked we always recommend Highway One because half of their homes do not do online booking and so if you are last minute or having scheduling problems they can find a house for you with one of the families that don't do online booking. They check the homes to make sure they are clean but in response to the reviewer that said there were lightbulbs out - that is our responsibility as owners and we don't always remember to check each lamp I will admit. The hot tub service guy is great and probably had not made it to their home yet (he has about 80 tubs to clean each Friday). All in all we could not be happier having Highway One rent our home. read more
