A broken wrist stopped me from planting in Spring and early Summer, but I sallied forth today with a list of nearby nurseries. Seely's was first on my list, and I didn't need to go farther. They have an impressive selection of trees, shrubs, flowers, and leafy perennials. Their Hosta selection is the largest I've ever seen. At a guess I'd say they have at least 100 different varieties. It's incredible! The Seely's employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and service-oriented. Julie hauled my cart all through the many plants, giving me advice on what plants would work with my East and West-facing planting areas. When I found one of my favorite plants looking a bit scraggly late in the season, she pruned the leggy parts off and left the beautifully formed inner stems and leaves for me. She was patient as I back-tracked to revisit plants I was interested in. Then she helped me load all my plants and a couple bags of Sweet Peat mulch/soil enhancer into the back of my Outback. I will definitely return to Seely's as I fill out my garden areas in the coming years. And I'll definitely watch for Julie when I do. This nursery doesn't look like much from the road, but it is truly a hidden gem! Check it out the next time you have landscaping and gardening needs!

It led me straight to **Blossom Flower Bar**, a new florist business that's clearly got the *soft launch meets cool girl era* vibe down. Think: **Trader Joe's DIY floral section** but with actual stylish florist folks on hand to help if you want a real-deal bouquet or guidance on your stems. The vibe? Youthful, jazzy, and blooming with potential. **What I grabbed:** An **exotic mix of flowers** -- the last of the bunch, since they'd opened early for the fair and I swung by post-lunch. A few stems, some not-yet-budded beauties, and a *slightly* picked-over selection still ran me **\$56 with tax**. Yes, that stung a bit, but listen -- **tariffs have upped your Mother's Day flowers by 30%**, so don't say I didn't warn you! Still, the bouquet is **thriving in my vase** days later, and I learned a little flower care too (no direct sunlight, y'all -- so off the kitchen counter and onto my coffee table they went). I think what truly separates them is the care and consideration that they give to the plants and trees. I have a small orchard on my property of only about 40 trees and as they need replaced, I have been using trees from mile tree nursery. They use a drip system on their trees so they are constantly watered. A number of the big box stores in the area water their trees intermittently and as a result, the quality is very poor. The people are extremely friendly there and very helpful.

For years I took care of the lawn myself (applying fertilizer and weed control - hubby mowed). But after repeatedly burning out the lawn despite trying different applications, it was time to throw in the towel. Creative has a prepay deal where you save 10% by paying for the year's services up front. I prefer to eat the whole cost at once and not have to repeatedly pay their bills. We usually get the 6 seasonal applications, plus grub and other pest control and maybe top-seeding if it's needed. They do a nice job of notifying the hubby ahead of time re when they'll be coming. Since it limits the ability to do the mowing, we appreciate getting notice beforehand. They also will come out off cycle and apply weed killer if an issue arises. We have never had to so - but it's nice to know it's available. Definitely recommend and will continue to use them.
