On time delivery especially for long distance travel and cheap with there quality materials

I ordered 14 yards of pulverized topsoil. All I got was 14 yards of large clumps and a clay pot in pieces along with branches of sorts. This project was supposed to take me a week at max, but has now gone on for more than two weeks. Every wheel barrel full of soil needs to be sifted. I had to devise my own way of sifting and instead of being able to just spread the soil in the yard, I must take at least 10 minutes to 15 minutes to fill a wheelbarrow and then I'm able to spread it. After the sifting, it is still not what I would consider pulverized. If I'm going to use all this soil the way I need to, I'm going to need to find a way to crush all the leftover clumps. The only reason I'm giving 2 instead of 1 star is because delivery was on time and fast. Also, I want to add that I did call customer service, and they did give me back half my money when I complained. Though, the more I work on this, the more I wish I had gone with someone else or bought it by the bag at Home Depot. read more

Once employed by jones topsoil (1988-1996) and would like to inform all those who patronize Jones Fuel/Jones Topsoil, then and maybe now that at least 90% of soil, topsoil, super soil, was contaminated with diesel fuel! How? Why? Asphalt delivery trucks also deliver soil. Soil sticks to asphalt tar residue stuck to the beds and side walls, tailgate. To save drivers the very hard work of cleaning the asphalt residue off safely and responsibly they just spray diesel fuel all over the inside of the dump bed. Imagine going down the highway and being misted by diesel fuel, yeah it leaks like that. Oh yeah management knew! So if your flower beds or vegetable gardens didn't produce as advertised, now you know the rest of the story. read more

Driver was great. The product is horrible. 4 truckloads of topsoil. Nothing but weeds. Now have to pay to get weeds under control. read more

I needed to get some limestone real quick. I had a lot of questions for the guy on the phone. He was very patient and answered all of them. They were able to deliver 8:00am in two days. The driver who delivered was very kind and worked out a way to get the limestone as close as possible to the work site! read more

Big fan. I had a rental property back yard project that I had put off until October because I figured it would be 2-3 days of wheelbarrowing and spreading dirt and stones from dumped piles. Not with Jones! They have their Spreader Jones which is fantastic. Sure a bit shoots off from target and there is a bit of a pile near the connection to the truck but that is not even a mild inconvenience when considering how much time that contraption saved me! It also comes down to having good staff. If they had some boneheads show up who didn't care, I would still be doing a bunch of work. The soil delivery was the larger space and the driver made sure that my instructions were followed and did a very nice job. The stone delivery was for a smaller space, and easier, and the driver did a nice job on even coverage for that too. And what I really appreciated was the driver calling me in advance and letting me know that the stones I ordered were not the ideal stones for driveway. I changed my order per his recommendation and got the exact stones I wanted. Keep in mind, this is a dump truck rolling up. For my alley/backyard delivery, they scooted right up and had little problem negotiating it. So if you have space restrictions, you should ask them first and make your own decision. I received my 7 yards of black muck and it looked great, it was small pieces and easy to work with! I got it down in the beds before the rain came that evening. The next morning I woke up to brown mulch. The black washed off! Now I brown mulch. Very disappointed, I have used Jones several years ago with very good success. I guess I'll go back to bags that stay black. read more

I love this company. This is the 4th time I've used their services (for 4 different houses) and they have never disappointed me. They are nice, friendly and on time! They even offered to spread the soil out so that I wouldn't have to do it myself. I would recommend their services to anyone wanting soil to do mass plantings or a single bed. read more

The difference between the customer service at Ohio Mulch and Jones Topsoil is night and day. We've actually had them both out today to deliver gravel. Jones Topsoil explained clearly that a cubic yard of 57 round stone equaled 1.25 tons. Whereas, Ohio mulch said a cubic yard of 57 round stone was "about the same amount as a ton." This made a difference in the amount we needed to order. Jones was also cheaper. And, I must admit, the "SlingerJones" was pretty miraculous (well worth the extra $75. to have all or most of the spreading done for you). In June, they brought their slinger out to fill our raised bed with topsoil. Again, they were completely helpful and really seemed to care about our project. read more

My husband ordered three cubic feet of top soil for our flower bed. We got what we paid for. Our only complaint being that he made a total mess and my husband spent an hour cleaning up a lot of spillage from the truck. The driver said it was a new truck and he didn't have much experience with it yet. I do not know if this was true or not. If you need soil/mulch at a decent price I would recommend, but fair warning that their customer service is not very good. read more

We have an ongoing remodeling project. Thus far we have had 3 deliveries of pulverized topsoil from Jones Topsoil. Each of the times I have called to place an order, the representative has been efficient and courteous. They were easy to schedule and delivered when they said they would. The drivers have been kind and deposited the dirt where we wanted. In terms of the quality of the dirt, each delivery was clean and there were no other contaminates mixed in with the soil. We would definitely use their services again! read more

Ordered pulverized topsoil to top dress and level yard. I also paid for the slinger truck (not cheap) because I wanted to save time for this job. What I got was soil, which was good for the most part, but it was also mixed with gravel and chucks of mulch. This 'mix' was not what I expected. The driver was nice but did a poor job spreading it. He did say it was his first week using the truck.....awesome ... I spent several hours moving dirt around, to level out from where the driver ended up spraying it. The slinger truck I assumed was to avoid all of this. I always ended up with a wheel barrel full of gravel, large chunks of hard dry dirt and small rocks. Calling to complain , I did not do. It's not like I could return the product. Partial refund, maybe. But highly unlikely. IF you decide to use them make sure you question the company about what will actually be coming out of the truck and make sure you have an agreement if you get their 'mix'. Product/company is avg at best. Do not recommend. read more

I ordered on-line Monday May 16th for a 3 ton delivery of stone for Friday May 20th. I requested a Noon-2pm time slot. The driver arrived at 5:20pm. No one from Jones called to notify me of the late delivery. I called them at 3pm and they told me it was being loaded and would be there shortly. I didn't realize it took almost 2.5hrs to get from Frank Rd to Reynoldsburg. I called and requested a refund of the Delivery Charge, was told NO.....seriously......apparently you don't want to do business with me or any of the people I tell about your poor service. read more

Jones Top Soil Review I had placed an order for a 30' x 34' and 5' x 14' so 1090 Square foot of #57 Lime Stone with Jones. I informed them I was concerned about the weight of the truck that would be delivering it due to the fact they had to drive up my asphalt driveway to dump the stone. I was informed on the initial quote it would be 8 tons and they could deliver it in a single axle truck and it would be $270. The driver called ahead and showed up right on time but in a 33k lb dump truck. I asked the driver about the single axle truck and he informed me this is what he was sent out with and he would contact the office. The driver was nice and polite but when he returned the office informed him they couldn't fit 8 tons in a single axle truck. I then called the office and spoke with Jack Fink. He informed me that the dump truck would probably weigh less per axle than the single axle truck with 8 tons of gravel. He also followed up with a waiver would have to be signed clearing them of any damage caused to the asphalt by their truck. I then inquired what would be the weight per tire then since they should know the weights of his truck. His reply "That math makes my head hurt just thinking about it." His next reply was, "Are you sure you need 8 tons". I informed him that his people calculated it for me at 2 inches deep with the previous mentioned measurements. He then replied with, that should be 9 tons. I replied with how about a single axle makes two trips and was informed that would be more. The amount for a second delivery would be a total of $390. With that reply, I posed the weight per axle question again to consider the weight distribution. This time Jack replied the dump truck is probably heavier than the single axle. I asked about the contract we made over the phone and mentioned how they already took my credit card information and all. His reply was, we don't have any business because they haven't processed my card yet. In short I sent the driver home and wrote this review so people are aware of the business practices of Jones Top Soil and how Jack Fink will attempt to mislead you in shady business practices. read more

I have called for Jones for years to get topsoil for different projects. This time, I called to get gravel for a driveway. The man I talked to gave me a recommendation for the type and quantity I needed. The truck driver came out exactly when he said he would and he "tail gated" the load and helped to spread it around. I was very happy with the quality, price and the customer service. read more

Upon arrival the driver explained that he would need to drive on my driveway to gain access to the backyard. I, of course, asked if it would damage my driveway and when he assured me it would NOT, I signed the release. Big mistake! I now have a very large 'gouge" in my concrete driveway which will cost a few thousand to replace. Upon contacting the VP I was given no apologies for the cracked driveway or for his driver misleading me. I was merely told that I had signed the release so basically..:too bad. Even worse, the driver ultimately maneuvered his truck and didn't even need to go onto the driveway afterall! To add to this fun...the :"pulverized much" consisted of ALOT of rocks. Many, many wheelbarrows full of rocks, concrete and lumps of dirt (not pulverized) . So much for getting what I paid for. There are other topsoil companies so please do not choose Jones unless you are prepared to suffer the consequences. read more
