Sue was an awesome host and welcomed us as soon as we entered. They have tons of merchandise on your way in and you walk through and turn left and the bar is on the right. I discovered the huckleberry cream liquor several years earlier on a trip through Wyoming and buy a few bottles whenever we travel in the areas they sell these. It's always in stock in my home bar. This time we were staying in Island Park and I didn't even realize we were so close to the distillery!!! We drove by a few times and vowed to come back and check it out. SOOO glad we did we were able to try 6 flights and I also got a drink with the salted caramel cream liquor, which is a newer addition to the line up and sounded delicious! I hadn't tried it yet but had purchased a bottle at a liquor store the day before. The drink was delicious the locals who were drinking in the bar were great to chat with. Don't know what to say, if you are in Ennis, Willie's Distillery seems to be on everyone's list of places to visit. I stopped by to pickup a couple of bottles of their Huckleberry cream liquor for my son. On july 5th, not too busy, but perhaps understaffed. I saw two staff members, but only one appeared to be serving. Stood in line to buy a couple of bottles, but not sure what happened, second or third in the retail line, it took about 30 minutes. We went there to check out the spirits and found a gem of a place. It was during a slow time of day so we had the place to ourselves. Kristiina was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about all the spirits they had. We picked out a flight of 6 different bourbons and whiskeys to try. They have a great selection of gifts for sale that were pretty cool. We bought a few things. Didn't get a chance to try any of the food but I heard it was good. We tried Willie's Distillery for the first time in Big Sky. The Big Horn and the Moonshine Honey quickly became our favorites and we knew we had to get to the distillery to try more. This place was so great and did not disappoint. The whiskey tastings were all amazing and we tried the huckleberry sweet cream liqueur and ended up taking a bottle home with us. They also have a great selection of shirts and goodies to represent. And they were dog friendly and let our pup chill by the bar with us. Definitely check them out if you are in the area. We were looking for a place to watch Game 6 of the Warriors-Celtics series. Then realized we actually had a lot of time to kill because of time zones. Meandered over to Willie's to check out their drinks. When you get there, you walk in, pass the barrels and merchandise right up to the counter. While waiting in line, tourists can check out to see if their local police force's patch made it to the wall. Pleasantly surprised, every single file city I've ever lived in were all clustered together in one area of the bar. The bartender/sales person offered the cocktail menu and another patron mentioned a couple of suggestions. I tried the honey moonshine with iced tea cocktail, and I wish it was available at every single bar I visit. It is so refreshing and tasty. Note: do your research. First visit here and it won't be the last. This is a distillery where they make some great whiskey and bourbon. My wife seared by their Huckleberry Sweet Cream Liquor. I much like their Big Horn Bourbon. My wife bought me this cute little disk that you put in the freezer and add it to your drink instead of ice. Now I won't be diluting my drink with ice. Pretty hard to find their products outside Montana and Wyoming. I have seen their coffee liquor in Utah though. They also make a chokecherry liquor that is vodka based. Not bad. So the place is very small two tables to stand at, no food just liquor and that is great. It was a nice visit and we are looking forward to going back. Prices are a little cheaper at the distillery that a liquor store. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They don't try to up sale you. So when in Ennis MT. Drop in and have a wee bit. read more

I LOVE Willie's Distillery but Debbi needs to go. One of the rudest people I've ever met. I was asking some basic questions about Ennis and, despite having worked there for "seven years" she had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. She couldn't even answer basic questions about the alcohol I was buying. Stuff I knew the answer to but was just curious how knowledgeable she was. I'll continue to buy their alcohol but I will NOT go in if this clueless clown is working. read more

This distillery is pretty darn cool and has easy access from the Main Street. Convenient parking in front. Tours are given upon request. Make sure to get one of their many drinks. The only downside about this cool place is that there is limited seating and it can get pretty packed. read more

This little distillery in the middle of Ennis is worth going out of your way to visit. It's a must-stop if you're in the area. The whiskies are good as are the mixed drinks made from them. They sell by the bottle and by the glass. The "tasting room" is full of US Army Special Forced memorabilia. It's a fun place to visit. My only complaint is that it can get very crowded. Still a small Montana town, with friendly business owners and staff that know how to treat you right. We sampled a few of the favorites and chose one as a cocktail. It was closing time, so we simply took it with us and wandered the cozy streets of Ennis stopping to watch the deer, rabbits and bar goers on Main. Loved the place. Tasted the plain moonshine, honey moonshine, bourbon whiskey, choke cherry moonshine and the coffee liquor. The negative, you can only buy two bottles. The only way around it is to buy one regular and two little bottles. I bought the lg coffee liquor and small reg and honey moonshine bottles. Last year I tried the whiskey at a distillery in Bozeman and it was awful. Because of that experience, I was reluctant to try the bourbon whiskey at Willies. Glad I did because it was a much more pleasant experience. It was SMOOTH. Though it wasn't my top choice, i enjoyed it quite a lot. read more

This distillery has some innovative offerings...a whisky made from beer, brandies made from fruit wine, and a creamy huckleberry after dinner liqueur that tastes like dessert. Really fun place to come have a drink. Cozy, inviting ambiance, with books and games and stuff strewn about -- sort of the boozy equivalent to a coffee shop. I had a jalapeño margarita that was off the charts! My sis had a Montana Mule, which was pretty good too. Service was great and friendly. The staff at Willie's is about as down-to-Earth and COOL as you can get. I have been a customer for years and participated in numerous events they have put on. My favorite is the annual pig-roast, where there is live music, plenty of food, and of course delicious cocktails available for the community to come and enjoy. This business loves to host and is always down to throw a great party. I have also gotten the opportunity to get a tour of the distillery and it is such a fascinating process to learn about. I personally think the equipment is just really interesting looking too, a different form of art! Now for the liquor, wow is the quality amazing! My favorite is the Big Horn Bourbon. It is my gift to all of my out-of-state friends who enjoy whiskey. The huckleberry liqueur is creamy and sweet and has the distinct flavor of huckleberries which are not common to many of my southern friends. Another thing I love about Willie's is that they are environmentally conscious. They give all of their spent grains to a local pig ranch to use as feed. You can buy or rent the used whiskey barrels instead of just throwing them out. And they try to reuse as many of the barrels to create different blends of alcohol. It is awesome that they are able to recycle or re-purpose many of their materials. read more
