Yummmmmmmmmy! Talk about some great customer service, delicious foods and strong drinks! We luckily came right before the dinner rush, so we got seated quickly. There's a big bar area and there's also a family sit down side as well. The alligator tail appetizer is amazing! It's deep fried but not greasy at all! It was amazing! I ordered the seafood pasta and I was in love. It's such a thick and creamy alfredo sauce. Topped with crawfish, scallops and shrimp. Also given two pieces of toast. My dad ordered the filet mignon wrapped in bacon, and was satisfied. My husband ordered the sirloin and wasn't too pleased. It was cooked throughly even though he asked for medium rare. It was a very thin and small cut of meat. for his sides however the said the broccoli and potatoes were delicious. We visited this place for this dinner in a party of 9 people last Monday. We were divided between 2 tables far away from other patrons. The waitress was friendly. They were out of alligator bites but their fish nuggets were good. The presentation of the food was great but the drawback was that the food tended not to be warm enough, as if they were sitting out for awhile before being brought to our tables. read more

Called to see about a reservation, the other day. I spoke with a female and she said that we're not taking any reservations and it was walk-in only and then I asked her what was the current wait time and she said they cannot get that over the phone. I got there and they said the wait time was an hour and a half (which she should have told me over the phone). Then a few minutes later, she told me that they were not taking any anyone else and I could look at the menu to do a takeout order. So basically I drove to Willy Sue's to waste my time. That is terrible customer service . Not telling me the wait time is ridiculous, I know wait time changes from time to time however, I asked for the current wait time. When you walk in, it has a nicer more upscale feel than it actually is. If it had tablecloths, a silverware spread, and crystal glasses it definitely would feel like a high end steakhouse, but instead this place strikes a nice balance between casual and a more exclusive restaurant. The staff was cordial and welcoming. My server, Chloe did a fantastic job and checked up on me throughout the meal. I also had the great pleasure of speaking with the manager, Javier(I think, my memory for names is pretty bad. I usually read them off the receipt). He checked in with me and we chatted for a bit about the restaurant and how inviting his staff is. Overall the service was excellent. I started out my meal with the Pork Trio appetizer, and it did not disappoint. The meat was tender, smoky but not overpowering and overall one of the best pork dishes I've eaten in a long time. On the pork there was three different sauces, all of which complimented the flavor of the meat. After that I ordered the Steak Tips which came on a bed of rice, with onions, mushrooms and a duck sauce. Once again it did not disappoint. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was not chewy at all like you get with most steak tips at restaurants. I found the duck sauce to be a nice balancer and complimented the vegetables in the dish with the meat and rice. It also came with a salad and an airy, buttery croissant covered in honey butter. What a disappointment! After reading the great reviews, we made a point of eating here while in Sumter for a concert. Several items on the menu were no longer available, like the stuffed peppers that we tried to order. The best thing we ate was the fried mushroom appetizer. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and was surprised at the large portion that was served. However, the bacon was not cooked throughly. The meatloaf was very dense and was saved by the bacon jam. It was served with loaded mashed potatoes, which were room temperature and all the add-ins were in the bottom of the dish. I wish they had been heated. My partner's mashed potatoes were not warm either. My salad was good. Our waitress was very pleasant and kept checking on us. I left feeling like all I had eaten was bacon. read more

I was really excited to try this pasta (especially after seeing how good it looked when the waitress brung my plate out) but I ended up disappointed. The pasta was barely warm which was a bit upsetting because it took so long for the food to come. I sent it back and the second plate was the same. If the food was hot I honestly think it would've been a hit. The mashed sweet potatoes were horrible! Another person in my dinner pasty ordered the blackened chicken which was a little on the pink side (he had to send it back also). Have gotten a chance to eat there yet. Tried 3-4 times but I refuse to wait over an hour for a table. This is Sumter not NYC.

This review is based solely on service. The food is good for what it is. Went today for lunch. Was promptly seated. Waitress didn't appear interested in working. Ordered and she brought my tea but had no lemon. She didn't come back for 15 minutes and then over the course of the meal came back one time. Not sure if she was expecting a tip because if it wasn't for my wife she would be SOL. Worst service I've ever experienced at this place and not worth the less than 10% tip I left. Will not recommend to others. It really sucks that there are absolutely zero nice restaurants in Sumter. You would think that with the military base and the folks stationed there who have been all over the world that someone would open a place that had at least a little class. read more

Willie Sue's is an excellent steak house and everything on the menu is amazing (try the steaks for sure). The service is always excellent and the staff have a great southern charm. I'm confused as to why there are so many good ratings. I've tried this restaurant 2 times before and assumed I came on an off day. Yesterday proved that it's consistently underwhelming. I tried the Buffalo wings yesterday and they were awful. You would be better off buying wings from the frozen section in Walmart. The sauce tasted like watered down ketchup and had no spice. The breading came off the wings and my fries were unseasoned and cold. Previously I tried the seafood pasta.. just don't. It almost tastes like the seafood isn't fresh. My group sent their plates back and just ordered chicken tenders. I'm convinced this is just a locally supported restaurant and may be the best Sumter has to offer for some individuals. Visited last night. Had the blackened ahi tuna with catfish bites. We made a reservation for a larger party to celebrate rank promotions. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival. Greeted and watered, the waitress was beyond patient with us as we stuttered through the menu and bantered between ourselves. I can't speak to everyones food. However, the catfish bites were very moist and the tartar was good. The only thing i wish it was served with is a lemon. The ahi tuna was cooked perfectly. I asked for extra blackening seasoning and wasabi because i like it hot. I could tell that it had extra seasoning, so the back of the house followed the ticket which is always nice. We were offered desserts but all declined. We opted to sit around and order a few more drinks before departing. I did visit the bathroom to wash my hands, and it was clean as well. Always a good sign for me. The prices were a little bit higher than i had liked, but that could be going rate in the area. As a visitor im not sure what the market looks like, but based on other restaurants ive been to this week it seemed more expensive. read more

I ordered the seafood grits and upon the first bite, I noticed something tasted "off." The seafood grits consisted of shrimp, scallops, and andouille sausage. I had 2 other people in my party taste the food and each one of them described the dish as tasting "rotten." I asked the waitress to take the dish off the bill and sent it back. Her response was "did you just eat all the seafood off the dish?" I was absolutely appalled at this comment. I ate one bite and knew the food was rotten. I'm usually not the person to complain about food or send a dish back. I was not offered another entree, dessert, or anything. This shocked me because most restaurants attempt to make up for the bad food. So, I sat at the table while the other 6 people in the party ate their food. Love this place, the service was great and the food was better. I had the prime rib (12oz) which looked larger and my wife had the fried shrimp. The shrimp looked to be jumbo size and there were 10 for her to eat. The salad was huge and the croissant were delicious. We had a chocolate caramel pie that was to die for. We stopped here to spend time with some new friends. The wait on a Sunday evening was a bit long, but I think they were short staffed because they had empty tables. They were also out of many things in the menu, but there was still plenty to choose from! We got our table, and the waitress was friendly and helpful with food suggestions. The menu is extensive and they have lots of beer, wine and cocktails to choose. We ordered alligator bites for our appetizer. They were delicious and fed 4 adults and a 12yo! The 1/2 rack of ribs was tasty and filling. The crawdad succotash side was divine!!!! Another wonderful dish was the seafood and grits - large, perfectly cooked shrimp and a great sauce. The sushi grade ahi tuna plate was good, tender and flaky. I had the ribeye with asparagus- yum!!! Sadly, the restaurant brought out onion rings for the child with her chicken tenders (she claimed they were better than Bojangles!) so they brought her a plate of fries she'd actually ordered. The staff took good care with us. The table was consistently bussed for dirty dishes, they were attentive without being rushed or pushy. Our food was fresh and the salads crisp. We'd eat here again! I dropped a star due to the food and beverage outs, but I understand the current situation with staff shortages goes all the way through logistics. Came here on a weekday night with my husband and some coworkers after hearing them rave about the food. When walking to our table I noticed the huge bar area that looked like a great place to spend a Friday or Saturday night enjoying some drinks. (not like we have many options here in Sumter!) There is an impressive liquor selection but underwhelming beer options. They only had a handful of beers on draft, along with a list of basic bottles with a few craft one thrown in here and there. However, they make up for their lack of section with price since my husband's 20 oz beer was only about $5! Instead of beer I ordered a drink called the 1800 Blackberry Lemonade ($12). Upon first sip I was instantly impressed. The bartender was heavy on the 1800 (thank you :) and the lemonade was refreshing and not overly sweet. There were muddled blackberries at the bottom of the glass as well that provided a light berry flavor to the lemonade. It was a great cocktail for any tequila lover and I can't wait to try another drink next time. For my dinner I ordered the Willie Sue's Dinner Salad that comes with your choice of chicken or steak. The salad is topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, cheese, hard boiled eggs, and croutons. Mine was topped with a 6 oz sirloin that was simply amazing. The size of the salad and the amount of steak on top is huge and gladly took the remainder of it home. As it stands right now, Willie Sue's is my favorite restaurant in Sumter. The service, portion sizes, and cocktails make it a great place for date night or a fun place to hang out with friends. read more

She so kindly asked the chef, and the chef said NO! Hmmmm. The fried flounder crust was black and the inside was dry and brown. It appeared that it had been reheated several times. For the amount you get for the price you pay this place is an exceptional deal. This was my first time eating at Wille Sue's and they did make an impression the first time. It is located off of Patriot Parkway and there is nothing else around it. Why do I say that? Parking will never be an issue for you. Not to say it is completely out of the way and in the middle of nowhere but it is mainly surrounded by housing communities that are sprouting up. This is a good size restaurant with a bar you can sit at if you choose. On this day I went around 1 PM and was quickly brought to a booth. First impression. The booth was actually clean which at times you would expect but so hard to find. The food is pretty much southern and not soul food. Many people seem to get this confused. There is a good selection of items on the menu to choose from. I had to admit I was torn between various items on what to get. I went with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and entree of a 12-ounce rib eye with crawfish succotash. Of course the drink of choice is sweet tea. The fried green tomatoes (five) were good and were topped with grilled shrimp. Something different and I just looked at the shrimp as a little touch extra. It did come with remoulade sauce that was tad bit spicier than I am use to but still good. It was an excellent dip for the shrimp and the fried green tomatoes if you choose to dip it in there. The steak was cook to a nice medium rare as requested. Nice char and nice seasoning that did not overpower the meat. Now this crawfish succotash. Outstanding. They could make this into its own entree in my opinion. It was hearty and plenty of crawfish was in it. No searching around counting how much crawfish was in it. It contained corn, butter beans, in a creamy mixture. I have had this before in Louisiana and Mississippi but this version was a bit creamier than the ones I experienced throughout the Gulf Coast. I actually prefer this version. A good little find in Sumter and I can see myself going back on my next visit. A solid four stars. read more

We were in town for a high school golf match and decided to stop by to celebrate our daughter's birthday, on our way home. So glad we did. Everything we ordered was amazing!
