This was my first visit, and I had a new waitress, so I took that into consideration. She wrote down everything we ordered,. but when the food came, the order was wrong. I asked for mushrooms, and I was given potatoes instead, and she corrected it. The salad was good and fresh, the crab cakes did not taste like crab. I just tasted the raw onion. When we finished our salad and crab cakes, she came with the bill, and we had not even been given our main course. I was a little disturbed by that. I asked for a medium-done steak. The steak was like that on the outside; when I got to the middle, it was red and raw, which explains why it was so laborious to chew. The best part of the steak was the fat around the edges. My daughter said she would take it to go and cook it for herself later. I did not want it; it made me sick to know I was chewing raw steak. The worst part was when she brought us someone else's bill for $150.00 with chicken on it. Our total was for 130.00, we only gave a 5.00 dollar tip because the service was very sorry, but when I looked in my account, I was charged 141.18. The last time I checked, 130 plus 5 is 135.00 So, will I be going back No, also I like ambiance, and Willie Sues has none, just a bunch of old wooden furniture that is out worn by a century. read more

We've eaten here twice now within a short time and enjoyed both visits. The food is good but a little pricey (dinners mostly) but serve large portions that could be shared. Our first visit we had seafood pasta, prime rib, crab cakes and peach cobbler. Our second visit we ordered spinach dip, seafood grits and peach cobbler. Our servers were very nice and attentive, however there seems to be an issue related to the kitchen. Husband ordered seafood pasta and received chicken Alfredo and it had to be remade. On the second visit my meal of seafood grits came out much later than the rest of our tables' orders. Accommodations were made, but it would have been nice to eat our meals together. What pray tell is a Willie Sue? It's probably someone's daughter named after her father and mother. Nevertheless, this good old fashioned eatery got me right. Plenty of parking, signage you can easily see from the road and clean bathrooms. They have an array of yummy appetizers and $10 lunch entrees that will satisfy. Shelly was our server on New Year's day. She was very polite, helpful and patient as I pondered what I wanted. I got the steak quesadillas that comes with fries and a non-alcoholic beverage for $10. They have drink specials such as the Silly Wue and others if you trying to unwind. Plenty of seating for group events and a full bar. Everything was good to go for this first timer. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese and grilled shrimp did not disappoint. It was enough to order as your main dish and be full. The size of the shrimp were comparable to the tomato 's circumference. I've heard of the pimento cheese fetish in the south but here at Willie Sue's; they have the pimento cheese topped in bacon and comes with made to order pork rinds. Good home cooking. Nice location. Plenty of parking. Ample staff. Full, top shelf bar. Wait times are usually anywhere from 15-30 mins during 5-7pm. Wooden decor throughout. 6 TVs at the bar. Outside enclosed seating or seating in the open air, near the stream of water. Marinated chicken breast, alligator bites and cheesecake are good. I wasn't a fan of the peach cobbler but the chocolate cake was plentiful for two people. You can dress casual with a group of 20; or date night chic for 2 as this is the only nice place for a great meal in Sumter, other than going downtown. Everyone is friendly. I would suggest going around 4pm for a seamless experience. You'll be the next repeat visitor!! Oh. This seems to be a very popular local spot. The food was OK, I ordered a ribeye and a sweet mashed potato. The mashed potato had more strings than the hair on my head. Beautiful clean building with all kinds of seating. Table, bar and booths so everyone can be comfortable. Dark and warm interiors make it feel like eating at home. The salads here are one of the best items on the menu. They are served with a honey butter glazed croissant (mmm!). Stumbled upon a hidden gem in Sumter, SC today! Normally, we'd stop in a "bigger" city, but today while passing through we decided to stop and try this place out! Situated on a picturesque open space, it's not easily understood what food you'll be served here. Initially, I was scared it was going to be a buffet, but to my surprise it was a full menu! The inside is designed so beautifully and it's squeaky clean! This is clearly the stop for after church diners as the place packed in fairly quickly! We had a part of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) and everyone was satisfied with the offerings and price! First, we ordered mozzarella sticks -- haven't had these in AGES, so hey, why not? They were okay!
