We love many things about Willie Sue's! 1st, thank you to Greg & Tommy for quick and easy lunch & dinner reservations (past & present) for both small and large groups! And thank you for retrieving lost receipts when we've misplaced them! (Haha). The food is always excellent and the appetizers are always a nice addition! Very laid back atmosphere and amazing staff :) read more

This place is just ok. The meatloaf is pretty sweet and has a reheated texture to it, it's not bad but not good either. We do love the gator bites and catfish bites, as well as the baked potato. But the steak over rice, forget the exact name, with bourbon sauce was just too sweet. The location is good with plenty of space and a nice atmosphere. I've had great service when I've come and will definitely return and try some something else and see if I like it more. I think it's worth trying again and maybe 3rd time is the charm. read more

We have been in more frequently because the food and service has improved from what used to be hit or miss. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I wish there was a consistent bottled wine list. We usually order the Dark Horse Chardonnay, it's ok for the price point. The options are limited and list is not always accurate. read more

My nephew and I were visiting here, and went to Willie Sue's for dinner. We both had fish dishes, different, and both were well prepared, tasty and were offered with a good selection of sides. I'd go again without hesitation. read more

Good and a solid 4 stars. Lots of parking. Went here for lunch with 4 co-workers. Service was good, but we did have to ask for refills on drinks. My steak quesadilla with fries was good. A Co-worker let me try a fried dill pickle which was good. Everyone seemed happy. read more

What pray tell is a Willie Sue? It's probably someone's daughter named after her father and mother. Nevertheless, this good old fashioned eatery got me right. Plenty of parking, signage you can easily see from the road and clean bathrooms. They have an array of yummy appetizers and $10 lunch entrees that will satisfy. Shelly was our server on New Year's day. She was very polite, helpful and patient as I pondered what I wanted. I got the steak quesadillas that comes with fries and a non-alcoholic beverage for $10. They have drink specials such as the Silly Wue and others if you trying to unwind. Plenty of seating for group events and a full bar. Everything was good to go for this first timer. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese and grilled shrimp did not disappoint. It was enough to order as your main dish and be full. The size of the shrimp were comparable to the tomato 's circumference. I've heard of the pimento cheese fetish in the south but here at Willie Sue's; they have the pimento cheese topped in bacon and comes with made to order pork rinds. Y'all, these pork rinds were sizzling and popping when they arrived at the table and dangerously delicious. I'd definitely keep them on my radar when in the Sumter, South Carolina area. read more

Good home cooking. Nice location. Plenty of parking. Ample staff. Full, top shelf bar. Wait times are usually anywhere from 15-30 mins during 5-7pm. Wooden decor throughout. 6 TVs at the bar. Outside enclosed seating or seating in the open air, near the stream of water. Marinated chicken breast, alligator bites and cheesecake are good. I wasn't a fan of the peach cobbler but the chocolate cake was plentiful for two people. You can dress casual with a group of 20; or date night chic for 2 as this is the only nice place for a great meal in Sumter, other than going downtown. Everyone is friendly. I would suggest going around 4pm for a seamless experience. You'll be the next repeat visitor!! Oh. Don't mind the very friendly cat who will make you step over him in order to get inside the front door. :) read more

We've eaten here twice now within a short time and enjoyed both visits. The food is good but a little pricey (dinners mostly) but serve large portions that could be shared. Our first visit we had seafood pasta, prime rib, crab cakes and peach cobbler. Our second visit we ordered spinach dip, seafood grits and peach cobbler. Our servers were very nice and attentive, however there seems to be an issue related to the kitchen. Husband ordered seafood pasta and received chicken Alfredo and it had to be remade. On the second visit my meal of seafood grits came out much later than the rest of our tables' orders. Accommodations were made, but it would have been nice to eat our meals together. Overall though I'd recommend trying out Willie Sue's!. read more

We made reservations as it is a popular place. When we arrived they were ready for us. We ordered gator tail and honey butter croissants for an appetizer. Amazing! I had the salmon for dinner, but son had the meatloaf and his girlfriend had the pasta alfredo! They loved it! We will be back! read more

Great service and very good food! Had the gator bites, fried pickles, and chicken Philly with a group. It was nice!!!

The service is great. You are greeted with a smile as you walk through the doors. The menu extensive and the food is very tasty. This restaurant deserves its number 1 yelp rating. The restaurant runs out of some menu items, such as the alligator appetizer, by the end of the week, so go early if you can. read more

Blackened chicken sandwich. The bread and fries were good. The sandwich was dry chopped chicken and sauce had very little taste. Disappointing for $20 read more

This is our second time we have meet at Willie Sue's for a pre- Mother's Day Bunch with our family. Food is always superb. We had about 30+ people and When I say everything went as planned . Best "Candied Bacon" ever! Also has the best Ribeye Steaks in town...not to mention the Gator Bites, and they have AWESOME Pimento Cheese (which I love to put on French Fries!)! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant! read more

This was my first visit, and I had a new waitress, so I took that into consideration. She wrote down everything we ordered,. but when the food came, the order was wrong. I asked for mushrooms, and I was given potatoes instead, and she corrected it. The salad was good and fresh, the crab cakes did not taste like crab. I just tasted the raw onion. When we finished our salad and crab cakes, she came with the bill, and we had not even been given our main course. I was a little disturbed by that. I asked for a medium-done steak. The steak was like that on the outside; when I got to the middle, it was red and raw, which explains why it was so laborious to chew. The best part of the steak was the fat around the edges. My daughter said she would take it to go and cook it for herself later. I did not want it; it made me sick to know I was chewing raw steak. The worst part was when she brought us someone else's bill for $150.00 with chicken on it. Our total was for 130.00, we only gave a 5.00 dollar tip because the service was very sorry, but when I looked in my account, I was charged 141.18. The last time I checked, 130 plus 5 is 135.00 So, will I be going back No, also I like ambiance, and Willie Sues has none, just a bunch of old wooden furniture that is out worn by a century. read more

Food is way too expensive for the quality! I've eaten here several times wanting to like it but it's just not good!

Loved it!!! Hello alligator bites...in sumter??!! How cool is that??!! Never would I ever have guessed. This place is delightful. It's like eating at your grandma's house. Beautiful clean building with all kinds of seating. Table, bar and booths so everyone can be comfortable. Dark and warm interiors make it feel like eating at home. Great menu with lots of southern offering. Great service, super fast food delivery, tasty!!! Everything was great from our kind server all the way to the check out process. Definitely a gem, and something Sumter needs to appreciate that they have. Highly recommend if you are in the area and want some tasty vittles!! These guys will hook you up! read more

Great place to eat grilled chicken and steak. The ribs aren't that good but the lunch special steak wrap is amazing. Their side salad with croissant is very fresh. Highly recommend. read more

You can improve on EVERYTHING! My chicken was like eating a rubber one! The baked sweet potato was really tiny and my husband said his seafood grits were not good and he's gotten better from a road side stand! It will be about ANOTHER 5 to 10 years before we come back. read more

This seems to be a very popular local spot. The food was OK, I ordered a ribeye and a sweet mashed potato. The mashed potato had more strings than the hair on my head. I had to ask them to take it back, which they did. I will say, however, that the service was outstanding, true, southern hospitality. read more

Willie Sue's is s very popular spot in sumter. If you want a seat, you might want to call ahead or be prepared to wait...depending on when you go. The salads here are one of the best items on the menu. They are served with a honey butter glazed croissant (mmm!). I've also had the meatloaf nachos (strange idea, but it totally works), and a crab cake sandwich. All good. The only downside to Willie Sue's is that it can get a little loud in there. But, if that's your style, then it's not a problem at all! read more

Amazing!! We never write a review , but this place deserves one. My wife has several food allergies and from the drinks to dessert they cared about her food challenges. Friendly place. Ordered the steak with fries and the chicken sandwich with the buffalo sauce on the side. The steak was just okay, wouldn't order it again. Bland. The chicken sandwich was 5/5. Huge and juicy. The ranch is amazing. Garlicky and not too soupy. The salad was really refreshing and the croissant was delicious. Light, buttery, and flaky. I'm not a croissant person but I would've ordered it because it was that good. The fries are fine, ordered extra crispy and they were but I prefer skinny fries over steak fries. The staff was friendly and always came to ask if we needed anything. read more

Extremely hit or miss. Live music outside is great but the restaurant can't seem to get its act together. I've been at least 6 times for different occasions and they (WS) have yet to get an order correct OR prepare the food in an acceptable manner. Raw, burnt, missing items, out of inventory, there is ALWAYS an issue. Portions of each meal have been wonderful, but they have never gotten 100% correct yet. Salads are usually prepared correctly, so, there's that... read more
