This is on first Street in Kalama. Inside is very much a pub style café with lots of craft beers and ciders. Pretty good wine list. The atmosphere was very loud. There was actually a baby behind the counter that was yelling out most of the time I was there. :( The menu is small with an array of appetizers. Beer cheese with the pretzel looked good. I decided on a hotdog, with sauerkraut, & raw onion. Simple, but what I like. Several other styles of dogs with an array of topping. They had a neat mustard bar with all different kinds of beaver mustard's to enjoy. The actual dog was very tasty. However it wasn't very hot. The bun was a Kaiser roll. Soft enough, but fell apart. I prefer a real hotdog bun. The sauerkraut was not good. The dog came with some chips. They were kind of stale.:/ I was alone and was approached by a server right away. She took my order and then told me the water was available" over there" gesturing to a 5 gallon water bottle set up. It was definitely tapwater. My hotdog came to me in pretty good time. Too bad the server never checked back on me at all. I would've liked more sauerkraut. I also had to go up to the bar and stand there for several minutes, before finally asking someone else for my check. Unfortunately I would not come back to this place. Came in to grab food and a beer and was greeted rather quickly. This is where it took a horrible turn, as I was gazing over the menu a party was starting to show up and I was quickly forgotten about. As the troves of newcomers approached the bar I was patiently waiting to be asked for a refill or food...it never came. After waiting and finally being asked I was informed it would be 45 minutes for food because of the party. I feel bad for the restaurant tender she is amazing just well understaffed a management problem that should be addressed. It is 6pm on a Saturday night! Do better! read more

Willie Dicks was just opening when I first visited and I need to try it again. My initial thoughts are it was a little overpriced for the type of food served but good. I don't want to spend very much on a hot dog or fancy sausages unless they're accompanied by tasty potato salad and sauerkraut like they serve in Germany. On a Friday night the owner let her kids run around and scream again and again into the bar area. This persisted for like 45 minutes. The owner couldn't care less she just kept gossiping with her friend in the corner. Her server also had kids in the restaurant and they were playing bottle flip challenge with full Gatorade bottles banging banging banging off the wood tables. It was so loud a guy turned around and said, "will you please shut up!!!!" This place is clearly run by people who don't care about their kids actions or their customers experience. The name drew us in. Figured any place brave enough to own a name like Willie Dicks, was a place we wanted to get to know. Turns out it's worth the stop. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly. Over two dozen craft beers on tap with fun names like Brother Ass Black Knight and Quilted Irish Death. They even had a very good Calder Rootbeer on tap with sassparilla feel. We were actually heading to a different place to eat when my wife spotted the sign for Willie Dicks as we come off I-5. We decided any place named Willie Dicks had to be stopped at, so we quickly found it in downtown Kelama, headed inside. It was very clean, especially the rest room. I was impressed with the variety of beers and ciders on tap, I enjoyed a flight of 6 different ones all of which were delicious. Lunch was good, although my brat was more bun than sausage. My wife's chicken salad sandwich apparently was delicious as she didn't even share a bite with me. If you are driving from Portland to Seattle Willie Dicks is a nice rest stop for lunch and some beers. read more

We were passing through, and now I know where to stop for a bite to eat the next time I go on this route. The salsa is so good, we ordered two servings and brought a serving home. I am so picky about my salsa and right now it might be my #1 favorite. It's a medium spice cantina style. I ordered the beet salad and based off of the in house salsa I am pretty sure the dressing is also made in house. My friend got the veggie dog dressed and it looked like a gyro...she loved it. While I am not a vegetarian we had a vegetarian lunch here and it was INCREDIBLE! The staff was sooooo nice and just all around a great experience. Cute atmosphere and nice beer selection but the food...blech. I would rate 2 stars on the food. When we asked to sub ranch for blue cheese on the buffalo wrap we were told that everything is prepackaged but she could try to scrape the blue cheese and dressing off. Hot dogs seemed boiled and then reheated in the microwave. It was $9 bucks for a mediocre hotdog with a bit of topping and a handful of Lay's potato chips. Our appetizer of pretzel and beer cheese came at the very end of our meal and one was still partially frozen. The beer cheese "dip" was coagulated and cold. Really wanted somewhere other than McMennamins to have beer and a bite but for the price, I'll go to McMennamins any day. read more

As all previous posts mention, JJ the manager is really great. He was super helpful, informative and friendly. He made a point to look up the ingredients for the baked beans to confirm for me they were gluten free, and discussed his effort to order GF hot dog buns and beers to accommodate those with dietary restrictions. I ended up having a hippie dog on top of salad instead of a bun, with a side of maple bacon baked beans. Everything was delicious! read more

Great place. Excellent selection of beers. Simple menu with mostly hot dogs. I have stopped in here a few times and The Buffalo Dog is my favorite. Staff is very friendly. On a few occasions they have scored extra points with me when they play old school punk rock on the sound system. read more

This place is great! The food is tasty, and craft beers are plentiful as well as wine. My family always struggles to find a good restaurant up in WA when were traveling because so many great places don't allow kids. But this place accepts all ages! This is pepto-bismal at 2 am, kind of food, with a chaser of caffeine & Tylenol to get you to work in the morning. Watered down beer, dry crusty meats covered up with spicy sugary sauces, suspect ingredient additions in the chili and the cheese sauce. We stopped for a quick lunch on our way back to Seattle. They have a great beer selection and I enjoyed a flight of 6 for $12 (great deal!) I got to pick any beers from their extensive tap selection. I included a peach orange cranberry cider in the mix and was glad I did! For food we did some of their hot dogs with veggie sausages (thanks for catering for veg*ns) and some house pickles. The dogs were yummy, only thing that could have been improved was the soft white store-bought buns. The service was a little slow but so friendly I didn't mind (and we weren't in a hurry).
