Beautiful tableware at Williams-Sonoma
Saralee S.

I always think that someday I'll be able to afford to shop here, but that day has long eluded me. I usually wind up going to the Primm Williams-Sonoma store on the way to Las Vegas, which seems to match my budget, They do have luxurious kitchen items that speak to the erstwhile chef dormant within me. The prices for these items just seems to be constantly out of reach. I'm no kitchen slacker either. I have a red oven imported from Italy that was painted at the Ferrari factory! But somehow I can't justify paying a 10th of the cost of that oven for a single pot. I do browse the clearance section and admire the displays, and have gotten wedding presents and gifts here. Maybe the lackadaisical attitude of the staff affects my judgment. On a recent visit, I got an absentminded hello, but only after I had reached the back of the store. They do have events and cooking classes, and here in a town with thousands of college students, that could be the way to create a more down home atmosphere! Meanwhile, i will just look at the catalogue and dream on.

I've been in here several times and this is one store I really enjoy strolling around looking, it always has nice items to look at and it's always very interesting on how they set up items. Before covid they always had something yummy going on, but even today they had some nice looking goodies to look at. Customer service is beyond excellent, even over the phone they do their best to make the customer happy. I was very fortunate to pick a box of Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark and my wife couldn't resist and broke it open and gave me a piece. I was shocked, I said is this what its suppose to taste like! I've been around for 60 years and it never tasted like this. You actually get the taste of chocolate and peppermint. I found my next new sweet and can't wait for my next bite. Okay, if your visiting San Luis Obispo and your walking on Monterey Street, you need to visit Williams Sonoma and get experienced.

If you are into cooking, this is the store to browse in. They do have clearance selections in the back. The staff here has always been friendly & helpful to me. They did point out a very useful recent almost half-priced sale on the Breville "The One Precision Poacher" [Eggspert] which also doubles as a non-stick Sous Vide machine where you can even cook without a plastic bag, if you fill it up to the thermocouple with water or broth [note: using anything other than water is not recommended by the manufacturer} . I use it extensively for doing "Sous Vide" eggs or sub- poaching eggs in their shell, for easy to digest eggs using the Eggspert setting. After finding out about this sale, I went on-line to order one for a relative, who seems to often over-cook eggs, so that even the sulfur ring comes out! This Breville was pricey at the original price of over $200, but when on-sale, it is a bargain at around $110 or so. Thanks Williams-Sonoma! The staff there also has/uses two Breville very pricey temperature control induction cookers that they use day after day. They speak highly of the device, which costs close to $2k & is more for heavy commercial purposes. While I have bought various far cheaper copies, I rarely use them, due to the hassle factor. I hope that Breville can soon make a cheap companion to their Eggspert in an induction system. I think that Breville & WS have some sort of partnership going on here....so I am hopeful. Since we live in an isolated area, that is devoid of most high end shops, it is so nice to have a B&M shop to really see their wares. I think you can also make returns here from products that you buy on-line. The on-line store has a far bigger selection. In the past, I find that returns have been easy. While much of their prices are ridiculous, you can sometimes find some better deals....like a current sale on made in Germany Chantal enamelware. I found them on sale at WS after paying double on Ebay! While most of their discounts are not so amazing, you can miss out on deals that beat either Ebay or BB&B...even with the 20% off coupon. WS also now has their own line of some products, which some are just knock off crap...but some is decent. While we love the beauty & utility of French made heavy enameled cast iron pots [we have various shapes including a huge Tomato, a Red Pepper, a Pumpkin, a Lavender Heart, as well as, less decorative items], I rarely found good deals at WS. I have found good deals on the Bay for grade B items. You can also find some of their WS Home products on sale in the back. Again, even with a discount, they are pricey. With the recent demise of the Thomas Hill restaurant that was upstairs, it is questionable whether WS can continue to pay the crazed rents in the downtown SLO area....so enjoy the store while it lasts. They also have cooking classes...not that I need them...ha...ha.. :)

I strongly urge anyone who is looking at kitchen/bathroom design to purchase from Fergusons SLO. In 2025 from the advice of a contractor I purchased everything that was needed to furnish a to-be-built ADU. All kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, sinks, toiltets the lot. As 2025 passed and there was no permit, and no start date in sight, and on top of that the contractor was less than trust worthy I approached Fergusons to explain the problem: there was no ADU, there was no permit, certainly not in 2025. Fergusons without hesitation refunded me the total $ amount. We were floored. WHAT customer service, WHAT integrity, WHAT goodness walks the floor of this showroom and the management. Integrity is what permeats this business. No matter what future plans are considered there is NO WHERE in SLO county that would get our custom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Fergusons.

She got the job done with the highest level of quality in an efficient manner. She is very knowledgeable and had a lot of great design ideas which was very needed because I lacked the vision to create a great looking kitchen. The standard joke about me, is that the most domestic thing about me as I live in a house. I do not care for cooking so the kitchen has never been my favorite room in the house. I can honestly say, I love my kitchen now and I think that speaks volumes to the great job Cindy did and how beautifully my kitchen was laid out. When I do have to cook, my kitchen was designed so that everything is at my fingertips and I never have to go hunting for anything anymore. Cindy was very thoughtful about my needs and preference in the initial design. I never knew what I wanted in a new kitchen, I only knew what I hated in my old kitchen and she was able to rectify all of those problems in her new design. She was also very patient with all my additional questions and comments, which I feel were a lot... Every time when I asked more questions or appeared not sure about an idea, she would do more research and find more alternatives for me to review and evaluate. The entire process was better than I could ever have expected. I would definitely recommend Cindy from Cucina to anyone looking to do a kitchen or bathroom remodel and I will most certainly use them again for my next project!

However, this store was an appliance store. Pivot time! . Well, I also need a new washer/dryer so let's take a look. So I took a look. I didn't have any sales person help. It was offered to me by two ladies. But I let them know that I just wanted to look around on my own and they were both respectful of that. And so I had an opportunity to look at the different washers and dryers, the options, and also look up the reviews on them. Well, my husband finally came to check up on me. By then I had already done my quick research and had an idea what I was looking at. Or so I thought. What I found interesting was that when my husband came in, he and I chatted, and then we went to go find a sales person to see what we were really looking at. I tried to get the lady who had first approached me, but she was nowhere to be found. Then I went and tried to get a hold of the second lady and again was met with no luck. We were about to walk out the door when the second lady did become free, her name was Kerry Jones. I explained the situation, told her we were interested in a front loading machine and asked about a few of the machines. Now coming from a sales background, I understand how commissions work. And I figured that these guys probably worked on commission. That was the reason why I wanted to stick with one of the people I talked to when I first came in the door. After dealing with Kari, I wish I hadn't. She was very opinionated on telling me exactly what machine I should be looking at and what was wrong with the front loaders and a list of negative items to be concerned about. Well, that's great, but that wasn't what I was asking for. And when I was asking her questions, she became very short with me. I checked in with my husband to see if he was getting the same read that I was. He absolutely was. If I'm going to buy expensive appliances, I don't know about you, but I personally wanna know what's gonna be added into the invoice. For instance, will delivery be included or is that a separate charge? Would it be more beneficial for us to go to say Santa Maria for a lower sales tax or is that the same as it is appear? In today's marketplace, we all need to know these things. Kari became very short with me when I started asking those questions. Abrupt, and flushed . I don't know why? As a sales person those should be normal questions. And when I asked her the question of "if it were you what brand would you be looking at? "She actually got offended. What the heck? At that point I picked myself up, held my husband's hand, and we walked out the door. I hope you, Reader have better luck than I did. By the way, we did buy a washer and dryer set. We got a great deal at Costco.

Kitchen & Bath Works, subsidiary of Luhr Design and Construction, Morro Bay, formerly of San Luis…read moreObispo, did our 2019 kitchen remodel. Something went OK and overall the kitchen looks good. However, we experienced issues. Some during construction, three following completion. Two new cabinets were built, the sink and all appliances (except the dishwasher were replaced) and granite countertops and backsplash were installed. The new refrigerator K & B specified was built in. However, when the "Change filter light" came on we discovered that we had no simple way to shut off the incoming water to make the change. I contacted K & B, and their response was: "Go outside, turn the water off, open your faucets, remove and reinstall the filter, go back out and turn the household water back on." Refrigerator exist that have a water turn off at the front of the unit. All of the existing cabinet doors were removed during construction and replaced at the end of the remodel. Prior to the remodel, all the cabinet doors closed correctly. After replacement, one upper cabinet door would not close all the way. I pointed the issue out on the remodel completion. Following, I emailed and phone Gerry Luhr multiple times, and was finally able to talk with him. Gerry told me the door closure was not his problem. To "hire a handy man". He would said he would have to charge us $500 or more to adjust the door. I hired another person and that person adjusted the door so it would close as it should, within less than a half hour and at a cost of $60. The new faucet nozzle became stuck on spray and would not release to the normal stream flow. I both emailed and phoned Gerry multiple times asking where the faucet was purchase, the source name and phone number, along with the name and model of the faucet. I never received an email nor a return phone call from Kitchen & Bath Works nor Luhr Design and Construction, after several attempts to contact them.

I am sure Erika might not always have time to be as helpful to everyone just seeking ideas and advice as she was to me on these two visits, but I really appreciated her generously sharing her expertise. When I read on line there was a problem with her attitude I was totally surprised, but I did notice both times were several years ago. Maybe she or the writers were under some stress back then, or maybe she's changed. I think she'd be fantastic to work with. So my tip is to give her a chance and see for yourself what she's like. She could not have been nicer, the displays there are gorgeous, and her excellent ideas and advice saved me money.

While we rarely go to HomeGoods, we do go far more often to their sister stores, such as TJ Max & Marshals. When is the best time to go? It is best to go for the after Xmas sales, when someone can score on holiday snacks at 50% or more off. We grab a ton of chocolates, nuts, candies, and even holiday coffee just the other day a few days after Xmas. We were not alone, and it is hard not to spend alot of time browsing and not interact with others here. I somehow got into a conversation about the health benefits or risks of some of the foods that were offered there. Someone was asking me about the alleged health implications of Seed Oils, Mushrooms, and more all the while telling me that they would never" get a vaccine. They also claimed that online that some are recommending Nicotine patches to fight infections & COVID itself. I tried to put things into perpective & had already researched the absurd claims on social media about the Nicotine. The Nicotine patch idea had nothing to do with evading an infection, it had to do with some rather hair-brained theory involving a neurotransmitter & brain fog. The so-called "study" was not really a study as it involved only 4 people in Germany. It was done by what appeared to be a non-English speaking Anesthesiologist in Germany...who somehow published an extended long paper in English. I read it and my opinion was that it was near worthless and could encourage people to do something that did more harm than good...and was utterly useless to prevent infection. Other absurdities including buying products from Poland, Turkey, and wherever and somehow working about some fringe ideas about seed oils, and not that Cinnamon & other spices could very well have toxic lead added to them due to simple greed. Lead makes it way into our kids applesauce and other products...yet people somehow worry about seed oils. The MAHA movement, now mainstream, even invades HomeGoods!
