Online pick up orders are worth it. Especially when you have a 5 hour work drive back a quick pit stop for gas, coffee and some necessary tools make it convenient to get in and out. This location is located right off the 101 freeway and it allows you easy in and out access so can get back on the road. 4/5 Customer Service (Limited Perspective) You have to stand in line for online orders as if you were in the store paying for an item. Curbside is available but they only had one spot and it looked like someone just parked there and went inside. They could use a bit more organization because when I asked for the online order under my name she looked confused. Plenty of parking except that one curbside spot. I didn't really glance around as I was trying to be as efficient with my time. But from what I could see they have a variety of tools, gardening equipment, and more. I came in looking for some quick disconnects for my pressure washer. I was pointed in the direction of the disconnects (isle 1) and left on my own. I did have a question on what I wanted to get but the guy in the area wanted to talk with his buddies. Not finding what I needed or think what I needed and the worker still having his awesome conversation I took off. I ended up finding what I needed on Amazon. Firstly, they always welcome you in with an enthusiastic "welcome". And if you're in a bit of a hurry there seems to be someone to take you right to the section you desire. Nice store inventory, I've found some perfect solutions & accessories for my home & garden, my only complaint is the garden area staff. They've not been helpful or friendly. Seems like we're just a pain that gets in the way of their "duties". I'm asking for plant info or suggestions, say for shade or a cactus garden. Just inside the front door on the left was a large display of at least 20 or more gallon jugs of bleach. There were at least 3 signs along the edge of the display. Each one said "Bleach...$2.79 a gallon". Doesn't seem to be just a coincidence that bleach is being promoted just inside the front door during the current pandemic! I was not able to find the item I came in to get so I left. My wife was waiting in the car so I asked her if we could use the bleach for fighting cleaning up per the pandemic. She said yes so I went back in and bought a gallon. My credit card total was $3.85. I expressed my surprise to the checker woman but went ahead an put it on my credit card anyhow. Then on the way out I rechecked the price: still $2.79 compared to the $3.59 she had charged (plus 26 cents tax). I went back and told her. She went and looked at the sign. She said it was the wrong signage even though it obviously said "bleach" in large letters directly in front of a huge display of one gallon bleach bottles. I told her that was a poor way to run a business. She did not offer me a refund, merely asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. I told her it was not worth the 80 cents differential. However, it is still irritating. Eighty cents represents an almost 30% mark up over the posted price. Really appears to be price gouging on a pandemic related item which is totally illegal. As 'small town' hardware stores go, this one is pretty good. They have a pretty good selection of tools for almost any kind of job, as well as cleaning supplies, gardening, and household maintenance. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Parking can be problematic in THIS particular lot, due to the pass-through traffic and its size. Because of the 'Invasion of the Big Box Stores'' (Home Cheepo) both in Santa Maria and SLO, cheapskates such as myself might find many prices higher at the Miner's, and the selection may not be as varied. But for quickie 'emergencies', or lack of wanting to drive a little way, this is the perfect place. read more

I've always had a good experience here and have shopped in this store regularly since we moved into the area a couple of years ago. Yesterday my son hit a water pipe while removing an overgrown shrub from the front yard. I don't know the names of everyone that helped me (glasses won't stay on with the mask lol) but it was 10 minutes from the time I left my car until I was getting back into it with everything I needed to fix the break and solid instruction on how to do so. I am here a LOT. Always have some project going on at the house and when I don't have time for a "Depot" run (and sometimes even when I do...) I can count on super friendly and helpful staff to find what I'm looking for. Yes they have young people in the mix who might not know exactly every detail about the more arcane hardware sundries...but they are eager to help, it's nice to see young staff that is willing to work hard and learn as they go. I believe his name is Jason I can not believe that he is an employee for Miners. Today I walked in to do some shopping and look around, the plants and gift area or I like to say my living room decor. I had an amazing experience today. I wish I would have gotten the young woman's name. My mom's special walking cane broke & she was suffering without it. Anyhow, I asked for help & she was called to help. She met me at the isle. I had no idea how to choose an adhesive for steal & plastic. Guys, she not only helped me choose one she helped me fix it. It didn't stop there. She cleaned it to ensure it would stick well. The. She put tape on it in order to let it set properly. My mom was so happy! My mom was a single mom raised 8 kids. Customer service is First Rate! We purchased a natural gas grill and couldn't be more pleased with our installer, Anthony. He delivered over and above in Customer Care ranking! There was a problem with the gas line connection (from our home to the grill's gas line) and he persisted to get it operational. That took a couple of trips (by Anthony) to provide the fitting to our gas line receptor. He was determined to satisfy our needs and assisted in making sure we were 100% satisfied with our purchase. Anthony really earned our confidence, and Miner's should realize his efforts. A little more condensed than the SLO location (this miners is in a shopping center on the main Nipomo shopping intersection), products are easy to find and help on the sales floor is always easy to find. I was asked if I needed help, to which I declined. However, I changed my mind in the next aisle and I was able to find within seconds the lady who had just offered me her help and she was front and center to help me. The quality of their plants is ASTOUNDING, and since this location is smaller, it is easier to navigate your way around the nursery without feeling overwhelmed. And since the employee was chit chatting with her vendor as I wandered, she did tell me to let her know if I needed help and she left me alone. That may not be appreciated by some, but it is to me. I don't like being hounded or pestered when I shop. The stars would be five if the checkout wasn't so oddly situated. I felt like I was in a mouse maze at the checkout. (And ADDED BONUS: I found single stalks of "lucky bamboo" for $1.59! This is unheard of elsewhere! Normally, for something half the quality in a fancy pot with a few rocks will usually run you ten bucks, and I don't need the rocks or the pot, just the plant, as I have my own creativity for them) read more

Went into the store to purchase two bathroom faucets. After reviewing a couple different models with one of there reps we chose a model that was listed at $69.99. When going to checkout they came up at $99.99. I talked to the rep that helped me to see if they will honor the price listed. He said to talk to the manager. After talking with a manager we agreed to a price on the faucets. Right when I was about to pay another manager runs up to me and puts the wrong model faucet right in my face and says, there's no tag on it, insinuating that I was lying about the price after two other reps verified the $69.99 price. Then he said that I read it wrong, that the 6 was actually a 9, again insinuating that I either can't read or see. Not sure why this manager was so bent to prove me wrong in front of everyone after already working with another manager and employees. He should be ashamed from himself for treating Customers like that, especially for a person at his position. read more

I'm new to Yelp but Miner's Ace Hardware in Nipomo has been a friend of mine ever since they opened. They're close, which is a good start, but then they have the one-two punch of having a staff that knows what it's talking about, and somehow they always seem to have exactly what I need. I just spoke with them about a fill valve I need for one of our toilets. I had to search the internet to figure out what everything inside the toilet is called, but once I identified the needed part I called, was put in touch with a young lady who knows her plumbing, and she instantly knew what sort of fill valve I needed and has one waiting on her desk for my wife to pick up. OK. Full Disclosure; I'm in this store several times/week and know staff by name and they know us. The reason I go back to this store is the quality of the employees, both in their knowledge of product and helpful, courteous service. The women in the plant dept. are great at helping find the right item for anything we need, whether it's plant food, the right plant or diagnosing problems with the plants we have. The hardware selection is great, much better than the local big box stores, and there are people here who know how to use/install/repair anything we buy. Lumber is a better grade than Big Box and generally the same price or less expensive. The paint counter is fast, helpful and friendly and know their stuff. There are some things you cannot find at Miners that you can find at Big Box but they will order them and I always go to Miners before anywhere else to find a specialty item or talk about ways of engineering a fix for something. Fun place to visit, great place to find just the right hardware item and helpful, friendly staff; no wonder I am a regular. read more

I have always LOVED Ace in Nipomo because of their awesome staff, but today they went up ten tiers in my book. Amelio and Vincent not only helped me find a grill that suited my needs, but helped me find everything else I needed to not destroy dinner for my family (which charcoal would be best, how to start it, etc.).
