Great store. Always helpful and friendly staff. Goes beyond sales to services offered. They sharpened our chainsaw chain. Sold replacement plug ends and installed them at a fair price. Keys they make always work correctly. Military discount and points earned gets a bonus coupon. I always pay with cash so that this and other small businesses do not have to pay credit card fees. Needed a couple key fobs cut and they accomplished it with expertise. I had to program the keys but once that was accomplished they start the car. In and out in less than 15 minutes and just under $8.00 total. Great job! read more

I called to inquire about replacing the screen on our sliding glass door, and the gentleman who answered (who I later learned was the owner!) was incredibly patient and informative--not rushed in the slightest, even after being on the job since 5 AM. His professionalism and kindness impressed me so much that I decided to browse for other items I needed. To my surprise, the store was incredibly well-stocked, and I found everything for several home projects. I ended up purchasing more just to support this fantastic local business. I've stopped here twice in my travels and both times I had a great experience with staff and products. Today I stopped in to get a copy of an old and worn key for my vehicle. They worked on it until I walked away with a working key. We went on Wednesday June 19th, I usually enjoy shopping here and spending money locally for people who want my business, I was planning on buying a new electric lawnmower here but not anymore, I asked about mowers and all the guy said "Yeah... This is a long overdue review of OKH. I love this place, they always seem to have what I need and the prices are very fair. Service is fantastic, you would have to sneak in to get past the employees without them asking if they can help. I'm a huge fan of locally owned businesses and this is locally owned, not only that but it's Veteran owned and they do a TON of giving in our community. And they will often some unusual (gourmet pretzels) or local items (potted pumpkins plants) available. Love the knife sharpening service they provide. read more

My fiancé and I come here on a regular basis for any hardware needs. Customer service has never been over the top but nothing that bothered me. My mother came here for the 3rd time to get a key fixed bc they did not fit the lock. She walked in today, explained her situation to the nice man at the counter, the other man who has obviously been here too long says " weren't you just here yesterday?!!!" My mom replied " yes, this is my third time here bc my key doesn't work!" The man then says "we're not wasting a third key on this lady, just give her, her money back!" I'm appalled that someone would treat a customer this way! Shame on you old man! We will never be back! read more

I am new to the area and have been in this store only a few times. They are extremely friendly and helpful. I was in the store tonight and a young man with brown hair, tall and maybe 25ish helped me. He not only helped me find the correct lightbulbs, he made sure they worked in my old school Santa. The electric cord still was not working, he changed the fuse and Voila. Thank you so much for your help tonight. Santa will live another year. I would not have gotten this help in a big box store. read more

Small store, limited selection. The last time I was there, there were only two other people in the store. One was one of the regular employees. The other person was much older - he could have been another employee or a customer, I couldn't tell. They were talking loudly about killing "Japs" in the war. I don't know if I overheard a casual conversation or if it was for my benefit. I am Japanese-American, I have not shopped at this store since and will drive much farther to shop at Lowes or HomeDepot instead for my hardware needs. read more

This hardware store always seems to have everything you need despite its size. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful (at least 20x more than you would get at a larger store). I believe the hours posted here might be out of date because they are weren't open as late as 6PM on weekdays. read more

Purchased Arrow P22 Stapler there. I called about #224 &#225 staples for it & now they do not carry the staples. The guy on phone searched, didn't find them and did not offer to get the staples from their Arrow wholesaler. He then said I should come down there to look around for staples he could not find after he searched for them. I told him I live in Lompoc and will not be driving to Orcutt to look for the staples that he could not find. Still no offer to order the staples. One Star for this hardware store... read more

For some strange reason, this store ALWAYS has exactly what I am looking for and at a very fair price. Smaller store means less hassle and greater accessibility to staff who can help. Very convenient location as it saves me a trip into Santa Maria. A real asset to the neighborhood. read more

I've been a customer of this great little place for 30 years. It never fails that when I need something they have it. Anytime I ask where something is, I always find it. For a small cozy store, they have an incredible amount of items. And a good selection of those items. The owners are always there: 2 guys who have years of experience between them and know exactly what they have in their store to help you accomplish it.
