Loveee a good Miners Ace Hardware, especially their outdoor garden section. This was my first time visiting the Grover Beach location and it was a bit smaller than I was hoping for but they still had some nice outdoor plants, flowers, and fountains! And the best part is that they are dog friendly. :) Overall, a nice little Miner's where you can still find generally everything you need (Just not with as big of a selection)! read more

Security is obnoxious! While looking For large specimen in nursery it was Obvious that 'they were checking on Me.' I was carrying a purchase they seemed To think I was pocketing from the paint Section I had found earlier. In line a bit later, to buy the one purchase, a 60-70 Year old balding man came up behind me-- Startling me- and literalky yelled 3" from My ear 'SIR, over there get in that line with THAT CASHIER ! In a tone like warden to prisoner! Not the first time I've seen obnoxious Attitude by manager types at Goleta Miner's. A 50's manager supervising at check out (dark hair, dark framed glasses) ignores Customer's greetings and only interacts with his underlings obnoxiously. Today he ignored customers and called out To a working checker. 'There's no WE in hardware.' I was going to come back with my truck To pick up large nursery specimens But went to a competitor instead. THESE PEOPLE DON'KNOW RETAIL OR HOW TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS IN THE SANTA BARBARA MANNER! I recently too my broken window screen to Miners in Grover Beach and I was thoroughly impressed by the leve of customer service I receive. the first person that met me in the store directed me to a department downstairs and radio them I was on my wa and I was met at the bottom of the stairs to take me to the aisle where my item was buying. I felt well taken care of. I also needed to drop off my window screen. Today I had to return the screen to have the length shortened because I measured wrong., when I brought the screen in today, I dropped the screen off at 3:30pm and Esaul informed me that they were not to busy so he could have it done by today and it was completed by 6:30pm. They sell outdoor furniture, which I've bought and I'm so please with. Their seasonal crafts are must buys when you see them. They also sell The Big Green Egg grills! There's everything you want and they will special order for you. The also carry a wife variety of paints, tools, etc. I love this small business and would encourage others to take a look. There today to get a couple of house keys made. A female employee with lots of tats was Manning the machine. There was one person ahead of me, so I gave tats my keys and took a stroll around the store. About 10 minutes later I came by to check on my keys, the original customer was just getting her keys, they were done. Tats then started working on my keys. A moment later an employee edged me out of the way with a bundle of keys. He was thin with long grey hair. Tats then pulled my keys out of the machine to help this employee and the customer he had in tow. I watched a minute or two incredulous as to what's going on. I then said if your not going to do my keys, give them back and I'll go elsewhere. Tats gave them back with out question, or sorry or I'll do them now! Terrible! read more

Needed some garden soil/amendments. Inside staff helpful, checked out no problem. Heard them call to staff to load my order. Drove to pick up my stuff- nobody there. Waited, and waited some more, and waited even more. 10 minutes -no one to help. I loaded large bags of wet ( heavy and dirty) 3 cubic feet of soil and other items. Then an employee saunters over and I ask for assistance. He did load the rest of my order. Spoke with the manager who apologized, doesn't do much good when I have other things to do, and now am filthy and wet. Go to True Value or OSH. read more

Recently, I needed new locks for my home. I thought of my local Ace Hardware first and boy am I glad. I could not imagine getting this done in a Home Depot or Orchard Supply. I was helped by Adam and Frank and they took amazing care of me. I needed some locks rekeyed and they work through everything for me. Each year, while on vacation, we pass through Grover Beach with something that we end up needing for our camping time. We'll normally end up at Miner's for our camping or vacation needs. It helps that Miner's is conveniently located and easy to access. Miner's not only has an impressive stock of items from which to choose, but their customer service is second to none. As soon as we walk in and are greeted, we are offered help in finding what we need. We are immediately directed to where we need to go. The staff there has always been friendly and helpful to us. The aisles are clean and well organized, and if you can't find something yourself, the staff is always quick to help. Went in for some more chalkboard paint and came out with some more chalkboard paint. As far as hardware stores go this one is pretty good. They usually have what I'm looking for and if a project is a little outside my normal realm they usually have someone with some experience in that area. Such a cute little hardware store!! It's always so clean and organized, and has the best customer service!!! I had someone check on me and offer to carry big items if need be as well. The only downfall is, it's a tourist town and the small hardware store is a little pricy. It was $8-9 for a bag of mulch, when home Depot was $4 and Osh was $5 per bag. But honestly, you're paying for the quality of service and sometimes that's totally worth the extra few bucks. read more

We come here from the Los Angeles area every weekend and long holidays. I do all kinds of shopping for my homes and found this really great down to earth hardware store just near by in Grover Beach. And all the people are very kind and always asking if you need any assistance. Have a good selection of practical items including plant section. I recently came to miners to get soil and seeds for starting my garden. The staff were extremely friendly and greeted me as I entered the store. The garden staff advised me on what plants would do well in Grover Beach. The prices here are always reasonable. I really enjoy when they have their weekend sales. The free popcorn is always a bonus if you come during the weekend. Parking is ample. read more

I've always wondered how local hardware shops can compete against the big box retailers like Lowes and Home Depot. Well, I figured it out a few months ago! Miner's Ace Hardware (in Grover Beach) is local, and staffed by truly superb employees. Even if Home Depot were across the street, I'd continue shopping at Miner's. The Grover Beach location is always filled with employees waiting to help you. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and go the extra mile to help you in whatever project you're working on. Each project I've needed help with, I've been given great advice, and if they don't carry something I need-they point me in the right direction in where to find it. They also have some pretty smoking deals to boot! Yesterday, they had a 20% off sale, and were giving away a free can of paint! What a deal! Combine unbelievably excellent service, with great pricing, a wide selection, and proximity, and you have a recipe for success! The employees in the hardware & lumber dept have changed (except good ol Wally's there once in a while) but the kids in hardware hide and can never be found to help customers...even when paged.
