Very disappointed in the lack of respect for a client's schedule. I waited for weeks to get a Friday 6-7pm furniture delivery appointment at my beach house after cancelling patients and arranging driving for 4 hours Charlotte to Ocean Isle. No one working at store or the number that they give you has a number for the delivery service to find out why I just received an email saying the delivery is scheduled for 8-10am tomorrow. The only response I have gotten is to reschedule the delivery. I am cancelling my furniture purchase and will not be ordering anything else from them. read more

This isn't about this store but the company. I will never shop online at William Sonoma again. Twice they shorted me on quantity ordered. There is no online reporting for these events. You must call within 30 days and wait and wait and perhaps they answer. If you miss their 30 day window they blame you for their incompetence and refer you to their policy to keep your money and not send you the missing item. They might as well add a policy that states they are incompetent at order delivery and it's the customers fault. read more

My 79 yr old mother, my sister, and I just stopped in Williams Sonoma to buy a new coffee pot and food processor. I also needed some spices and utensils. We are nicely dressed, as we are celebrating my sister's 53rd birthday and Mother's Day. We've been shopping and getting tired. Needed a restroom before picking out our items. We were quickly told that they do not offer a public restroom. I was told to go next door to Birkdale offices. I went, walked around first floor. No signs for a restroom. Looked at elevator signs, no restroom signs. I walked back over to Williams Sonoma and said I didn't see a restroom. At this point I really need to go! I asked the same associate about where the bathroom is next door. She said she didn't know. Then she said, "oh, my co-worker said it's on the 2nd floor, but she doesn't know where.?" I said, "can I please use your restroom?" She told me no, as it's in their back room and we aren't allowed in there. At this point, I'm thinking, "can't someone walk back and wait for me?" I'm a potential customer. I was so excited about my new food processor and my sister about her new coffee pot. Seriously. I cannot bring myself to go back in there , just because of the way we were treated. Why would I run all over the place to go to the restroom, and go back over there? Our shopping experience went from fun to aggravation and No gifts. I felt people should know to definitely not need a bathroom, even if you're shopping in there for a long time! read more

This is a truly lovely store. I would like to spend a day in there. I always have a smiling look on my face when I walk in and walk out. I love all the demonstrations that they have and the tastings of different items. They helped me make my choice of the Espresso maker that I wanted. They have unique items and quality items that you cannot find anywhere else. The staff and service has always been quality to me. Also, if you choose to order online they are extremely helpful and every item that I have sent out has been delivered in just the right amount of time and in wonderful condition. Wow, if money was no option, I would be here shopping on the regular! I only went in to purchase a $15 avocado cuber that I saw on realsimple.com. This store has THE WWWWWWORST customer service ever!! I have on several occasions been treated like I'm not good enough to shop in there , I did file complaint about it because of The store staff communicated with me in a most rude and vulgar manner, she was basically a racist person. I had to visit the store yesterday and the same rude & disrespectful staff was there ,I believe her name is Heidi from the survey I received a while ago, she recognized me and she made big deal out of it , She got huge upset because I did not use the the eMerchandise Card in the store right away after returning the faulty items. I was being nice and responded that I have not received the eMerchandise Card and I have my teenagers waiting for me in the car, I would like to visit the store next time , She basically yelled at me it will Be the last time the store serves me, and pointed to the door asked me to leave the store , I was completely shocked, I have been loyal customer of Williams Sonoma for years, I doubt that she is typical of WilliamsSonoma employees.I called customer services to escalate her behavior, she refused to give her name , I laughed when she said she does not have a name.. while I was on the call with customer service , she called security on me , and ask security to call police. I was denied service based on my race,color,national origin, accent, I am an IT professional and I am well respected by many, There are many federal laws against discrimination, I will certainly defend my rights. read more

This is your standard Williams-Sonoma store with your standard Williams-Sonoma goodies (including a FANTASTIC chestnut pannetone and lovely Peugeot salt and pepper shakers, et al) but what stands out here for me is the staff. I am from out of town but I was here with the family, doing some Xmas shopping and I just found the customer service to be very helpful and polite. Way above and beyond the call of duty. Review of the cooking class only. I bought my mother a 2-person gift certificate for a cooking class for Christmas, so both of us could go. We took a class called "10 Essential Cooking Skills." We are both pretty good cooks, but there were a few skills that we wanted to learn. The experience was both really fun and a bit disappointing. If I was just rating the social experience I would rate the class a "5" - the chef teaching us was knowledgeable and entertaining, the food was delicious and it was enjoyable socializing with my Mom and other people while doing some fun. HOWEVER, if you actually want to learn how to cook, you might want to go elsewhere. Based on the what I actually did and learned I would only rate the class as a "3." Though the class was called "10 Essential Cooking Skills," as students, we only actually practiced 4 of the skills on the list (all of which I knew how to do), the rest were either shown to us once done and technique explained AFTER the face (which were the the two things I wanted to learn to do, really?!) or the teacher demonstrated the technique. Despite my reservations, I would actually take a cooking class again, but the knowledge that I am paying for the social experience, not as much the learning experience. Though I did learn that I can make risotto in my instant pot in about 15 minutes! OH YEAH! read more

Unbelievable. I'd been looking forward to coming here for a while because they had a couple special items that I knew I could only get here. When we walked in we were told about the specials they had and then left alone to get our shopping done. Which I appreciated because I don't like being hovered over whole I'm shopping. However, when I walked up to the counter to pay the sales associate did two things that really disturbed me: 1. She made eye contact with me saw the items in my hand and watched me walk to the counter and then walked away. Ummm...okay. Maybe she needed to run and get something?! Or maybe she was changing shifts?! But nonetheless she left me standing there... 2. While I was standing there (assuming she was coming back) I watched her move items around (I guess she was trying to look busy). ..not help another customer, or grab something and come back. She just casually moved some items around. When I got tired of waiting I said to her "Is there someone that can check me out?" The look on her face was absolutely appalling. Like how dare I bother her or try to make a purchase. Seriously?! You just walked away because you didn't want to help me? Unfortunately I have to agree with Maricel, they definetly profile their customers...(or at least this one sales associate did) which REALLY left a poor taste in my mouth for this place. This particular Williams-Sonoma is in Birkdale Village (Huntersville, exit 25). The footprint is smallish, but they make very good use of the space. It's always clean, brightly (but not harshly) lit, and fully staffed. From time to time they offer demonstrations on unique products and appliances, and they often have tastings (so you can sample the end product of a prospective utensil, appliance, kitchenware item, etc.) When I think of Williams-Sonoma, frankly, I think expensive. Now, I won't dock them for this, but I think it's worth noting. It's a legit chef's store though, so I believe in this case you get what you pay for. The staff is always extremely knowledgable. I love WS and the products they sell but I absolutely HATE this location. The sales associates have followed me around the store, repeatedly saying the current promo, repeatedly offering to "help" and following me around the store. This isn't a one time thing, every single time this happens. They come off like they are desperate to sell products and about to go out of business (based on the stores closing at Birkdale lately this might be true). A couple of weeks ago I went with my father and the sales associates wouldn't leave us alone. They acted like we were shoplifters despite both of us being dressed nicely. My father commented that he's never been treated so poorly by sales associates and he regularly goes to WS stores by his house. I'll just go down the street to Sur La Table where I don't get treated this way. read more

I love WS but shopping at a physical store is always a hit or miss. They don't carry everything you see on their site which is understandable and some locations carry certain things than other locations near by which I think is a pain and a waste of time driving back and forth to one end of town to the other. And you ALWAYS get profiled going into them. Especially this store. If you don't 'look' like a certain status they will not entertain your presence. During the holiday season that will be the only time you will feel "accepted" since they have to sell-sell-sell! They will hound you until you literally buy something. read more

The following is part of the sales associates job description listed for Williams-Sonoma. "Ensure all internal and external customers receive exemplary customer service and receive a positive store/brand experience. Ensure sales associates build relationships with customers." I was in today to return a $20 item that did not work. I realize that the purchase was 1 year ago but in new condition, as it was used just once, and forgotten in storage. When I entered the store there was no sales person to be seen for approx. ten minutes. I was also interested in a large ceramic surfaced cast iron fry pan ($229). The 2 staff people finally became available and were rude and did not even give me the chance to inquire about a discount on the fry pan purchase. Perhaps part of the $20. I left them the faulty product to dispose of and I was not treated with a positive store consultative sales experience nor positive relationship marketing techniques. This will force me to be directed to other stores, rather than Williams-Sonoma, for my high end cooking supplies.
