Lol now a few days after posting my review the Dr's office says they are terminating their services to me, w no reason why. They loved my 1st review which was 5 stars in 9/2020. But they don't like the feed back on my 2nd review. That just shows my point, they have no conflict management skills. Just make a better effort to communicate better. And I would have gladly updated once I experienced an improvement. This has never happened to me, but I have already found another PCP and didn't plan on going back. Growth is inevitable, whether they took this opportunity to provide better service in this instance or not. It will happen again to another patient. They can stay comfortable, kicking ppl out that are dissatisfied. But that not how you run an effective business or grow. Whoever is in charge should know this. read more

Somebody gave me a NASTY cold with a severe nighttime cough. Dr. Manuel made a phone version of a house call and sized me up. He prescribed me azythromycin and recommended Robitussin DM and a couple other things. I haven't finished the azythromycin yet, but I was feeling better in only a few days. My mucus switched back from green to clear in no time. I can sleep again. I'm grateful to Dr. Manuel. On my first visit, he spent much more time with me than any other doctor ever has. He got a clear picture of my family's medical history, from which we discussed my possible risks. He followed up with an emailed order for blood work, and which we had also discussed during the visit. He displayed a genuine concern for my overall well-being. Found Dr. Manuel through Yelp. After reading all the reviews (as they seemed very genuine), I have decided to give him a try. I got food poisoning; I was thinking of going to an urgent care at first. But then I said to myself let Dr. Manuel help me out ... maybe he will be my permanent family doctor (currently I don't have a good one; no luck at all). Also, Dr. Manual is like less than a mile away from my home! That's a plus! I sent him a message last Thursday night/early Friday morning like 1am or so through his website about my situation. Dr. Manuel replied promptly! I was a bit surprised about it. I never ever had a doctor who would talk to me at 1am! He even gave me an appointment for Friday afternoon. That made me very happy as I would rather see him versus going to an urgent care. My appointment went very smoothly. His staff was very nice. Dr. Manuel listened to all my complaints carefully. In the past, most of my doctors loved to rush me out of my appointment. Heh ... but not with him! Per my situation, he checked my blood work. It only took him less 2 days to get the results. Once again, Dr. Manuel was able to provide a very detailed follow up (it was over the weekend, how amazing)! Whatever questions/concerns I have, he will have the answers for me. read more

I've had the chance to work with Dr. Manuel for many years as my doctor. He is so much more than a normal doctor, though. He takes the time to have a personal connection with his patients. And, his sense of humor is great--so disarming of any anxiety you might have about seeing a doctor. My insurance situation has changed, so unfortunately he is out of network. I have been seeing Dr. Manuel for about 12 months shortly after a cardio vascular event. He has been tireless in helping to align me with top-notch team of specialists and in co-managing my care. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Manuel, truly. He really listens, is inquisitive, offers virtual visits and has availed his services endlessly without complaint. Three months ago he prescribed PCSK9s to help my body lower bad cholesterol. Due to genetic predisposition, beta blockers and diet alone were unable to get very favorable results - and blockages were/are a big problem for me. Dr. Manuel is very thorough. He reviewed my records going back years, and adjusted my blood pressure medicine until he was sure that I had the right dosage to keep it under control. Previous doctors had just renewed my prescription with little or no comment. As a result of Dr. Manuel's careful approach, I was able to undergo a vascular surgery with little noticeable surge in my blood pressure. This man has a passion for medicine, and an interest in his patients. His experience as a hospitalist means that he is familiar with specialists, and able to make recommendations with real knowledge. I worked with him a few years back to address some troubling recurrent issues, and while I'd rather not go into depth here regarding the specifics (it feels strange enough to write a doctor review on Yelp, but I guess this is 2019), I can say that Dr. Manuel was always astute, attentive and available to me, in a way that no other doctor I've worked with before or since has been, wont as their species are to live behind ancient scheduling software and answering services. Dr. Manuel is one of a kind, I have always gone to the major healthcare systems and their doctors are typically the "lets have you wait forever and then have our actual visit last 5 minutes". I am so used to New York doctors rushing their patients in and out of an appointment, but Dr Manuel took his time to assess my issues. I had some sinus problem that was bothering me from time to time. Dr Manuel was able to make a diagnosis and ordered the meds I needed right away. I had seen other doctors for the same issue before but always ended up being sent to an allergist or ENT that could not solve my problem, only more bills for me to pay. Only on one other occasion have I had the pleasure of such personalized service when seeing a physician. Dr. Manuel seems to be extremely competent, can talk one-on-one with the patient in a setting unlike the typical doctor offices where you are up on a table. During my initial appointment he sat with me, went through all of the medical history I had brought for review by him, thinking it would go into my file and never get looked at - but he read through every page with me asking me questions and making notes on his laptop according to how I replied. The visit was easily well over 1 hour and his care and attention to me made me feel fantastic about my new doc here in Houston. Not only is the bedside manner great but I honestly believe he is extremely capable and confident about what he says, unlike so many other docs who will say something just to say something and not look like they do not know. This guy is spot on and will flat out say what he knows, what he thinks and what he doesn't know, which I respect alot since docs are just people like us and not soothsayers or fortune tellers. One of the biggest reasons for coming to Dr. Manuel was the option of being able to get insurance covered virtual doctor's visits. Virtual visits are something I've come to depend on, but they can be an iffy thing to navigate. Without recommendations, you don't know who you're getting on the other end of the line. Dr. Manuel comes highly recommended and working with him has improved my comfort level around hospitals and doctors dramatically. I don't feel pressured or judged for not wanting to come into an office, but I also feel more open to come in and see him in person should the need become more urgent than I was willing to accept. He really does put his patient need and care first and foremost. I have a tendency to avoid on calling in on doctors and have been known to switch doctors out of shame for not following up on previous visits. Manuel's offices are a direct line to the doctor himself and he doesn't hesitate to answer your questions openly without scaring you off. It's really hard to find a private practice...or doctor's appointment in general that doesn't have a month long wait in some cases. Being able to get this quality of care without waiting has been fantastic. read more

On my first visit he informed me that a new symptom I was experiencing was likely due to a newly found interaction between two of my medications. He was able to solve my problem with a very minor change. My previous physicians were unaware of this possible interaction. An Excellent MD! Follows up thoroughly and makes time for his patients to follow up with the progress. Super responsive and does what's the best for the patient given the circumstances. I've been sent to see specialists and hospitals and he had been the quicker communication hub than speaking with the specialists directly.
