When I called, I spoke with Shawn in the office who professionally scheduled a service call at a time that was convenient for me. Zach came out and was able to diagnose that the blower motor was bad and would need to be replaced. The next day I spoke with Dave to find out they had a lead time of around 14 weeks for that motor. Dave could have just stopped with that news, but instead he offered to send Zach back out to pull the blower motor, so he could attempt to repair it to get us going before the cold came. Long story short Dave was able to make a repair to our ECM motor, so Zach returned and got our heat working. A great deal could have gone better with this situation, but not much of that was in the control of Dave' Services. They offered a professional service and went above and beyond to help take care of a "new" customer. You see I have never used an HVAC company, as traditionally I would perform most work like this myself. I have been in the service industry for more than 30 years and have most of the skillsets needed to make repairs, but in this situation, I did not have the time nor the specific industry knowledge. I sincerely appreciate the extra effort it took to get heat for my family this winter season, and you can be certain when I do replace the unit it will be done by Dave's Services. When we discovered that our furnace suddenly quit working, we had determined that it needed a new transformer. So my husband purchased a new one (for $17) and hooked it up. We then learned that not only was the transformer bad, but also the pc board. After talking to several different reputable heating/cooling businesses, we decided to go with Allied Services since they were relatively local. My husband immediately explained to the supervisor (Mark) on the phone that there was a brand new transformer already in place and that we probably only needed a new pc board and to make sure that whoever made the service call was not to turn on the furnace and run it for a period of time, or the brand new transformer would blow. For whatever reason, the service guy apparently didn't know this or chose to ignore this information because the next thing we knew, he said the transformer had blown and needed replaced. I was at home and gave the ok to replace it, not knowing any better. The original transformer cost us only $17, but Allied Services sold us their versionfor $88 (very large difference in price). Long story short, they wouldn't put a new pc board in without a new transformer and now they refuse to give us even part of our money back. This situation is clearly their error, especially when the service guy even admitted the transformer looked brand new to him. They were on site on Friday morning, I asked them specifically if they could install a specific Trane system that I wanted to purchase or if they could get me a better price on their system. I had the exact make/model/price of a unit that they could compare with. They promised me they would write it up both ways and have it to me by the end of the day. I give them all of Friday and Saturday with no response and message them Sunday and Monday to see what's going on and get promised by the end of today again. I was lied to again and had to message them again before they finally sent me a quote on Tuesday. It was only at this time that I was told that they couldn't install the unit I wanted and that their "competitively" priced equivalent unit was over 200% the cost of what I told them I was initially looking at. Their eventual quote for their Goodman system was also 20% more expensive than the carrier system that one of the most reviewed and reputable companies in Dayton/Springfield quoted me. I understand that installing third party systems is not common in the industry which is why it was the first thing I asked. It should not take 5 days of leading me on to tell me they can't do it.
