I was transported via ambulance from a local hospital located in Las Cruces, NM to Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX. From the time I entered the ER the medical care I personally received was simply outstanding. The ER nurse assigned to me was very good, polite, caring, and professional. Shortly after arrival the ER M.D. on staff Dr. Oliver Dobbs came into my section of the ER. Dr. Dobbs asked many questions to try to get a handle on my medical issues. He wanted to know what medications I was currently taking, wanted to know my medical history. Dr. Dobbs spent a lot of time with me, and we reviewed my medical history. Dr. Dobbs was very knowledgeable, professional, courteous and kind. Most of all, he listened. My estimated time spent with the attending ER M.D. was close to 30 minutes. After our long and thorough discussion he made the decision to admit me into the hospital. I was transported to 1 West room 1214. Not feeling very well, I was greeted by a host of staff members, RN, Techs, etc. At first arrival, the care and staff at Memorial Campus was simply outstanding. The night nurse Denise V. was professional, courteous, and listened to my concerns. The care throughout the night from techs monitoring my blood pressure, heart etc. was quite honestly much much better than what I expected. The day nurse Denise R. was outstanding and had a long history in nursing. Denise R. listened, provided answers to my questions and was always around when needed. Denise R was a very special nurse and person to me. The care received over a 3 day period was totally unexpected. I am a patient at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, where health care from the staff at Mayo Clinic is the best of the best. I have to honestly say, the quality from the nurses, techs, etc., at Memorial Campus was at the same quality as Mayo Clinic. That alone is a high quality of compliment to Providence Memorial Campus. Upon getting released, I asked my attending nurse if I could request to speak with the Administrator of the hospital as I was so thankful for the staff that was assigned to my room. I had the opportunity to speak with the Director of Nursing, Medical/Surgical/Oncology. We had a great conversation and I wanted her to know I asked to see her, not for complaints, but accolades to her and her entire staff that I met during my stay. If I should ever need medical care again of this magnitude Providence Memorial Campus near UTEP would be my first choice, even though I live some 60 miles away in New Mexico. If I could give a rating for my care I would rate the care as a 12 out of a score of 10. I would not hesitate to use Memorial Campus again. My respect for the Director and the nursing staff became very high. I cannot thank the staff enough through words. The staff was memorable and will not be forgotten. Great job Providence at Memorial Campus, you should be proud of the employees you have. Thanks again to all. You are "the best of the best".
