I write this with regret as we always try to support a local business over the big box companies. After a week of interaction I would avoid this company. Lot of good talk but that's all. We scheduled their service guy well in advance but got no notice until the last minute when he was at the wrong address and upset. We stopped at their location in Newberg and gave them photo of the washer info 5 days prior. The service tech (Wendell) showed up with preconceived idea of what was wrong despite even the error code on the machine. Did little to no investigation except saying the machine was over 5 years old, we needed to "junk" it, and to go their shop and buy a new Speed Queen. Totally torched any other product including our Maytag (which they sell). He did no investigative work and walked out. My step son looked on the internet and found the exact problem...unplug and let it re-set. Its now been 2 days since and numerous loads (after a week without a washer) with it working fine. Wendy (the Owner) called my wife today and admitted that their service guy "lacks communication skills". We also have a email from their sales person saying the same thing. It appeared to us he only wanted a show up fee and to sell us a new machine. And they marked us as "out of the area" on the service call even though we are only 2 miles from their business. I hate putting down a local business but I'd avoid this company even if it means going to the big box companies. read more

Tech was friendly and prompt. However that being said - I was clear in my request that I had a Kenmore Refrigerator. It took him 2 seconds to tell me that is was most likely the closed system and since the Kenmore is made by LG that they don't work on them. It was $125 and took longer to hook up the card reader to his laptop for payment than it did for him to look at it. Had the information provided been reviewed prior to anyone coming out the business could have told me they don't service my model. Instead they sent someone out to basically take $125 from me. I would not use these people they are not, very professionality told me i had bugs in my refrigerator but there where no bugs .and when we asked them to use a different door to bring in the new refrigerator they did not do what was asked of them and we had to wait for a week to get the new on they told use that they took pictures of the bugs but they did no show them to us and they just left the old refrigerator in my drive way in all taken apart and i had to haul it way to the dump read more

I want to let people know that if you are looking for appliance repair to be careful if you choose WVA (used to be Walt's). I had a repairman come out to look at my washer, the problem was the drain was blocked, no parts needed. He said if it happens again to "just google it, easy to fix." He was in my house LESS than 20 minutes. And charged me $249, $99 for the home service call and $150 for labor. I called their office to talk about the charges and they said nothing, literally nothing besides asking for my credit card number (technicians cannot take them with the invoice). When tech left today after installing a clamp that ended up not being the problem we "the customer" were instructed to call the manufacture ourselves to order the part, then call WVA when part arrives to schedule installation. Thank you for repairing our oven. The service was quick and easy once we got the date and time all squared away. Originally, I was told to expect a call on Thursday nite for a Friday install. I called and the office staff after recieveing no call on Thursday and she said the install was for the coming Monday. I did receive a email Friday asking me to fill out this survey based on the repair that was supposed to be made. Not a big deal to me though. I understand how communication can get mixed up. A very poor experience! Doesn't rate the 1 star. Incompetent from the start. First visit they couldn't make the 4 hour scheduling window, showed up an hour later. Tech was good, diagnosed the problem & ordered the part. 2nd visit - wrong part was ordered. Rescheduled a third visit with an assurance I would be "first call" @ 9am. 3rd visit- Tech NEVER showed up!!! It took 35 minutes to track him down. His excuse, he forgot!! My washing machine went belly up after 18 years of hard labor, so I walked into Walt's on a Thursday morning. I immediately found its replacement & was back out the door 10 minutes later with an awesome product at an awesome price. The staff are super friendly, no pressure and they offered free delivery (I took it home myself). They had an awesome selection with better prices than the big chains and it's 1/2 mile from my home. I have a new favorite super hero... His name is Mark and he wears a Willamette Valley Appliance "cape"! Top rack of our dishwasher broke Sunday evening, September 29, with a house full of week-long guests...of course! Knew that the chance of getting anyone out to fix it before Thanksgiving was probably slim to none. Called WVA Monday afternoon. The gentleman who answered asked, "Is tomorrow morning okay?" I quickly double-checked to make sure Siri hadn't hacked into my conversation and was making prank responses. "TOMORROW MORNING?? As in, 'The-morning-after-today' kind of tomorrow???" I stammeringly replied. "REEEEALLY???! ABSOLUTELY! THANK YOU!!!" The next day, Mark arrived in his nifty WVA van. I met him at the door and he introduced himself while I led him back to the kitchen. He took one look at the wonky rack, asked me a few questions about the dishwasher's age (close to 5) and usage (lots), then explained that this particular machine probably had just a year or two at most left in it. He gave me several options on how he could proceed, thoroughly explaining each one. I knew I couldn't really wait for the needed replacement parts to arrive (a tiny, cheap, plastic knob that held up the rack had broken off in the sliding support bar), so I asked him what he would do. He walked out to his truck, came back with a couple pieces, and proceeded to brilliantly MacGyver my dishwasher back together. And he did it to both sides of the rack, explaining that - as Murphy's Law always predicts - if this knob has just broken off, the one on the other side will undoubtedly follow suit the minute he leaves our driveway! He did emphasize that this was not a long-term fix and that we would need to consider buying a new machine in the next year or two...even telling me what brand he would recommend and why...but I didn't care about the future machine as much because I had my current dishwasher back in working order - and no mold yet growing on the dirty dishes stacked on the counter!!! Win-Win! WOOHOOOO!!! I then had a great conversation with Mark about his life prior to being an amazing technician (I'll give you a clue... Long-time Hotshot firefighter.) What an incredible career! Anyway, all that to say, how often are you bummed when a repair guy has to leave your home!??? Call WVA next time one of your appliances needs CPR. Under new management. This is my second horrible experience with this company. I called them yesterday wanting assistance on getting a part. The part I needed wasn't out of my appliance but another item I was trying to fix. The part I needed (capacitor) is commonly used in clothes dryers. When I called down there the lady who answered the phone only knew to say what model of machine do you have. When I explained it's not out of a machine but dryers use them she repeated what she had just told me. I then asked to talk with the service guy and I was able to talk with him. The service guy. He tells me the same exact thing. I then told him what type of capacitor I needed and he acts like he doesn't even know what a capacitor is. Do not use this company for sales or service. I was screwed on a service call from this company about a year ago where they came out to look at my refrigerator and tried to charge me $99 to tell me what I already knew. I was needing help from them to get my refrigerator fixed but they were zero help. On top of all that their attitudes are horrible. They talk to you like you are stupid. They don't care at all about serving anybody or helping anybody in anyway. I ended up calling A-Best Appliance 127 SE Baseline St. in Hillsboro at 503-640-5784. A-Best was so nice and told me bring your part down and we will see if we have it. What a genius idea for customer service. From the beginning I experienced issues with ordering and receiving my product. I placed an order for a washer and dryer, then I waited 3 weeks before deciding to cancel the order. Upon trying to get a refund I was told my dryer had come in so I would be charged a restocking fee of $197. Claire was extremely rude during the entire process, and after talking to Wendy, looks like I will still pay for a product I never knew came in. We have taken the predominance of our appliance business to WVA (also known as Walts) for over 10 years. We live in the Sherwood-Tualatin area and used Walts mainly to support an established local business in lieu of larger big box stores. Walts was not always cheaper than the big box stores, but the marginal premium was worth it for the great service they provided. In the last 1-2 years we understand some form of ownership or management change occurred within Walts. With that, we have experienced a significant drop in their customer service that has caused us to discontinue doing with business WVA. Here are our two experiences to share for context: 1. At the end of 2019, we ordered a new appliance from WVA for our kitchen. In January 2020 we called for a delivery update and we were informed it was on back order at the factory. Several weeks go by without any updates from WVA. We begin calling WVA to inquire. We received two types of responses from WVA: either 1) getting a person answering the phone who said they could not give us a status and the owner would have to check and call us back or 2) we would leave voicemails requesting calls back for order status. Both cases went unanswered multiple times. The only update we received is when we called WVA's Canby outlet and they provided us the only one time update. Finally after 5 months we get a random call from WVA that the appliance was in and that they were ready ready to install. We understand COVID probably delayed the unit. However, our frustration with WVA was the lack of response to our inquiries and zero phone calls from WVA to update status. That is very poor customer service and for the owner not to call us back is egregious. 2) our last attempt to get service from WVA was last week when we attempted to get help to order a part for a dishwasher we had previously purchased from WVA. The person that answered had no idea how to help us or where to refer us to get help. They just said we can't help you. 10 minutes later we went to the factory website and found it. Again, a tone deaf response from WVA where just a small bit of help can a long way to help a customer adds value and drives repeat business. A concept that is apparently lost on them. It is sad and regrettable to see a long established local business with a history of great customer service fall down to such colossally poor business practice. I want to support and bring my business to them but we can't given the blind spots they have developed and behavior that acts like they want to close their doors. read more

We bought a range, refrigerator and range hood. The delivery person said he would install the hood for $50. The fan's never worked correctly and now I have to pay another person to re-install it so exhaust air doesn't blow into the kitchen. The store installed a ice maker in the freezer and it quit working after 3 months. When I called about a repair, Tom told me they don't service my area. They sell and deliver, but don't service I found an appliance repair person who checked all the parts and plumbing, then told me the "add on" unit had been substituted for one from the factory. I'm now another $120 into the new ice maker and a service call. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! read more

I've had to ask Walt's for help twice, both with great results. The first was when the electronic console on our oven malfunctioned. The service agent found the problem right away, said it was a known problem for that model (though unfortunately not a recall or under warranty), ordered and installed the correct part quickly. This wasn't a cheap repair, but cheaper than replacing the entire oven. The second was for our dryer and ice maker. One listen to the noise the 14 year old dryer was making, and the service agent told me it was beyond repair and to start shopping for a new one. I appreciated his honesty. He took apart the ice maker, defrosted it, reset it, told me what might be wrong, but said to see if the reset worked. He said I had 30 days to call and have him return for the repair, and he wouldn't charge for the return service fee, just the parts and labor. That was months ago, so it's fixed. In both cases, I felt like I was given honest answers at a very fair price. I would definitely recommend Walt's, and I plan to purchase my next set of appliances there as well! read more

We recently moved to the area from out of state and needed a washer and dryer. In an effort to be a good neighbor, we decided to patronize a local business instead of a bog box store. What a terrible mistake to choose Willamette Valley Appliance. It has been nearly 2 months and I have no washer and dryer. Communication has been nonexistent. The owner is now blaming the virus situation but the communication issues existed long before this crisis. Buy from this business at your peril. read more

A freezer died at the local food pantry and I went here t replace it. I was shown one for $700. After getting approval from the BOD, I went back the next day and was told the floor model was not for sale but I could buy the upgraded model for $800. Unfortunately Walt's service is now terrible. We bought a microwave that they did not have in stock but could get it in about two weeks. We had to wait 9 weeks. We were told our microwave would be put in on a Wednesday between 9 and 1. No show. Next between 1030 and 1100 on Friday. No show. They truly do not care anymore about their customers. These guys made my day! I called them when my newer microwave went out, this review is going to start out rough but has a happy ending. First of all they were prompt and on time, however, they showed up with the wrong microwave and it was missing parts, installers still took my old unit and had it prepped for the replacement, so I called them back, told them what happened, they were so apologetic and immediately sent out two guys and changed it out, with a huge FREAKIN UPGRADE!!! Buyer beware. Prices might be a little better but if you have any problems good luck. They damaged an appliance while installing it and promised to replace the damaged part. I was lied to and drug along for over a year before I had to file a small claims court case. When the owner finally reached out he was arrogant and dismissive about the situation. If I hadn't filed small claims I'm confident this wouldn't have been resolved. My advice is don't buy from them but if you do and you have issues file a small claims case sooner then later. read more

I cannot speak any more highly of the service we received from Walts. The sales gentlemen on the floor was down to earth, friendly, and didn't try to over sell me anything. Delivery and set up were prompt quick and efficient, with phone calls letting me know when they were on there way which I appreciated. We had an issue 3 weeks in with a faulty dryer door latch ( Which I do not fault them for- I feel like it was probably user error or just happens sometimes) The repair was covered under warranty and they were able to come out within a few days, and right on time to repair it. Our repair man's name was Chris and he did amazing work- fast-friendly- above and beyond from a customer service and satisfaction stand point all while explaining what he was doing. He also gave me a few tips while he was here for how to prolong the life of our new appliances which I really appreciated. Overall a great experience working with them! read more

Fantastic customer service. We had them out to fix a whirlpool Washing machine. They were responsive and great with communication on when they would arrive. On the first visit they did not have the correct part, which was our mistake on what was actually wrong with the washer. They had the correct part within two days and had our washing machine up and running better than new.
