--- **BEWARE BEFORE…read moreYOU SPEND THOUSANDS HERE** I have never written a review in my life, but after what happened, I couldn't stay quiet. My wife took my **2004 Ford Crown Victoria with only 140,000 miles** to T & D Auto because it developed a strange noise and was smoking. After looking at it, they told us the **entire engine needed to be replaced** and quoted us **approximately $9,000**. **Nine thousand dollars for a 2004 Crown Vic.** Fortunately, I decided to inspect the car myself before authorizing such an outrageous repair. The problem wasn't a blown engine at all. When I had previously replaced the alternator, **I had accidentally left the alternator bolts loose**. The alternator shifted, contacted the belt, and caused the noise and smoke. I tightened the alternator correctly, and the "bad engine" magically disappeared. Since then, I've driven the car **thousands of miles** without a single engine problem. Based on my experience, I have **serious concerns about the accuracy of the diagnosis** I was given. Had I trusted it without question, I would have spent thousands of dollars replacing a perfectly good engine. My advice: **Always get a second opinion before approving major repairs here.** It may save you thousands of dollars. I can only speak to what happened to me, but this experience completely destroyed my confidence in this shop. I will never return, and I cannot recommend them to anyone. Imagine all the elderly folks that they ripped off!!!Garbage

I wasn't going to leave a review until I was reminded by DeLand Auto Fix's efficient marketing…read moreoperation that my car was due for some services that they had recommended. I went there because I generally prefer to deal with family-run operations. My Acura RDX needed a wheel alignment, which was a service I was told they provided there. I agreed to the alignment, bought two tires, and asked them about the "check engine" lights. The error codes are available on the dash display, so I did not really need to "diagnose" the problem. Many auto repair shops plug their diagnostic reader into your car at no charge, or you can buy an inexpensive OBD2 Scanner online or at a parts store and get the codes yourself. But I was assured that "sure, anyone can plug in a scanner, and you can get it done for free at other repair shops, but OUR mechanics are experts," etc. Because of a scheduling conflict, I needed to pick up my car sooner than expected, but was told that I could not -- because they send the car out for wheel alignment. They do not provide that service on the premises. So, I could have (and should have) gone directly to a tire and alignment shop and saved some money. The expert diagnosis of the results from the OBD scan for errors (free elsewhere) cost $149. I have before me a recommendation from the experts at DeLand Auto Fix to replace the fuse panel (cost $1,835.80) and run "programming" (cost $479.25). The total proposed repairs estimated at $2,315.05 That did not include $75.11 for the recommended "Clean Engine, Add Dye and Inspect" for a supposed "heavy buildup of oil in the engine bay," which was not readily visible to me. It turns out that the wire harness to the rear spoiler brake light was disconnected. Total cost to repair: $0. (If the experts at DeLand Auto Fix had bothered to do a routine online search, they would have learned that a $10 brake light switch is usually the culprit for the error code displayed.) So I wound up paying $479.25 for 2 tires and a lot of bad advice. If I were, say, a trusting young woman who knew nothing about cars or the wily ways of repair shops, I would have laid out about $2,500 more than that. I highly recommend avoiding DeLand Auto Fix.

I called the office, Denise answered and I explained that I was not able to come back today due to the time of day and being far away. I told her that the next morning my wife had cancer treatment scheduled. Denise said come in when you can. Tuesday afternoon I took the car back. It was after 3 o'clock, Denise said there was not enough time to evaluate the car and fix before closing and asked me please bring it back in the morning. She asked me to be there at 7:30am when the owner John would be there. I agreed and showed up Wednesday morning at 7:30. I meet John no small talk, no asking what I did to the car, just professionalism and calm, and he just asked for the key and as soon as he had evaluated it he would tell me. He said the compressor had failed. By 11:00am it was fixed, a new compressor installed at no cost to me. While I was very stressed out, they were calm and always told me they would fix it and they did. These people are trustworthy and honest. They stand behind their work. Everyone here is very knowledgeable and can explain car issues/situations very well in a simple to understand explanation. They push towards OEM parts for just about everything, which isn't a bad thing. It's also good to know that what you are getting is OEM unless stated otherwise for any part replacement. Pricings also very good. Consistent with other shops in the area, Yes you can probably find a shop to do some stuff cheaper or a shop that would throw in a shady aftermarket part to make it a "cheap" fix. But if you respect your time and overall money. Since a cheap fix can lead to needing it to be fixed sooner than if it was done right the first time and/or with high quality parts. Than definitely come here. While it's not a major negative worth taking any stars off, but wait times can be high to get your car in to be seen/worked on.
